Abstract

Dairy cows farm business level of KUD Tani Wilis in Nyawang Kidul, Sendang district, Tulungagung city has some problems resulting low livestock productivity. One of the causes of low levels of dairy reproductivity is the incidence of repeat breeder. Repeat breeder is a condition of a female cow that failed to breed after being mated three or more times with a normal and healthy fertilized bull. The main purpose of this research is to know the risk factor of repeat breeder in dairy cows at farmer level of KUD Tani Wilis in nyawang kidul, Sendang district, Tulungagung city. The type of research is descriptive research. This research was using 32 dairy cows from 6 breeders, the selection of cattles used Simple Random Sampling method. Abstract

Objective from this research was to determine the relationship of udder morphometry which consists of the height of the front udder, the height of the rear udder and the circumference ofudder on milk production in the Bima District of West Nusa Tenggara. One of ways to choose a good lactational mare is to pay attention at the shape of the part external body which is udder. The sample had used 32 mares that were in lactation period. Milk production has been measured from the average milk production per day in the lactation period. Milking process in Bima District, West Nusa Tenggara has done in three to four times a day in the span of four to five hours per day. Body length had been measured from os thoracalis to os coxae, chest circumference had been measured from os vertebrae thoracalis to os thoracalis, posterior abdomen of pelvic to os pelvis and the last of os lumbar vetebrae. The research design in this study was survey on every wild mares rancher. Data that has been collected and processed using Multiple Regression with SPSS program version 23th. The result showed that there was a strong relationship between height of rear udder and udder circumference to milk production with back udder with height coefficient of 0.21 (P <0.05) and udder circumference was 0.11 (P <0.05) and equation in Y = 2.423 - 0.398LA + 0.793TAB. However, there is no significant relationship between the height of the front udder and milk production.

Abstract

Ovarian hypofunction is a condition in which the follicles in the ovary can not develop due to lack of feed. It can affect the pituitary anterior, so the production of FSH and LH was low. GnRH can stimulate the pituitary anterior to produced FSH and LH. This study aimed to prove that GnRH injection in dairy cows with ovarian hypofunction can initiate estrus, followed by pregnancy. This study used 12 dairy cows with BCS ≥ 2.75, with anestrus due to ovarian hypofunction. All dairy cows were divided into two treatment groups, P1 injected with GnRH at a dose of 100 µg intramuscularly and P2 injected with GnRH at a dose of 300 µg intramuscularly. The results were analyzed using an independent t-test and Chi-Square test. The result showed that estrus rate of P1 and P2 were both 100%, meanwhile onset of estrus of P2 (53.83 ± 8.1 h) was shorter p <0.05) than P1 (74.17 ± 4.7 h). Both of P1 and P2 showed 100% pregnancy rate. It could be concluded that GnRH injection could initiate 100% estrus, and followed by 100% pregnancy in dairy cows with ovarian hypofunction.

The tool used in this study is a questionnaire by conducting interviews to study respondents, namely 20 owners of Karapan Sapi. Data grouped by mixed ingredients they use and dose of the mixed ingredients and then analyzed using the Chi-Square method to determine the effect of the mixture and the dose of the ingredients with indigestion. The results of the analysis showed that the mixed ingredients showed a noticeable influence (p<0.05). The results of the analysis of the dose of the ingredients also showed that the dose of the material showed a real influence (p<0.05). Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the provision of mixed ingredients and their doses affect the indigestion in Karapan Sapi in Sampang Regency.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the addition of duck egg yolk in skim milk – fructose extender on sperm motility and viability of Muscovy duck (Cairina moschata) at 5°C storage. Ejaculates of Muscovy duck were divided into four portions equally. The first portion was for the control group (diluted in skim milk – fructose extender), and the second, third, and fourth portions were for the treatment groups of T1, T2, and T3 (diluted in skim milk – fructose extender added with 2.5, 5.0, and 7.5% v/v duck egg yolk). Sperm motility and viability were evaluated two hourly until the motility percentage reached 40%. The data were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan test. The result showed that the highest percentage of spermatozoa motility and viability (p<0.05) was in the T2 group compared to the other groups. It could be concluded that the Muscovy duck semen extended in skim milk - fructose with 2.5 to 7.5% egg yolk of duck qualified for artificial insemination at storage up to 10 hours in 5°C storage.
