Abstract

Abstrak Kebutuhan akan kesehatan diharapkan pada semua orang, namun kesehatan harus perlu dijaga agar tidak terpapar adanya radikal bebas yang berlebihan, karena akan memicu timbulnya penyakit diabetes mellitus disertai adanya peningkatan kadar malondehaldehid. Pencegahan radikal bebas yang berlebihan dapat memanfaatkan biji Cucurbita moschata. Antioksidan pada biji Cucurbita moschata berperan dalam mengatasi dan mencegah adanya stres oksidatif pada penderita diabetes mellitus. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi ekstrak etanol biji Cucurbita moschata terhadap kadar malondehaldehid mencit model diabetes. Metode penelitian eksperimental dengan desain post test control group design, mencit jantan sebanyak 24 ekor umur 1 bulan dengan berat badan 20-30 gram, dibagi menjadi 6 kelompok: kontrol negatif, kontrol positif, kontrol metformin, dan  kelompok perlakuan ekstrak etanol biji Cucurbita moschata dosis 180, 360 dan 720 mg/kg BB diberikan secara sonde oral selama 14 hari. Pengamatan terhadap kadar malondehaldehid. Hasil penelitian pemberian ekstrak etanol biji Cucurbita moschata pada semua dosis kelompok perlakuan dapat menurunkan kadar malondehaldehid (Kruskal Wallis p 0,04 < 0,05), sedangkan dosis yang lebih efektif sebanyak 360 mg/kgBB. Kesimpulan semua dosis kelompok perlakuan dapat menurunkan kadar malondehaldehid, sedangkan dosis yang lebih efektif sebanyak 360 mg/kgBB. Kata kunci: Cucurbita moschata, malondehaldehid, diabetesAbstractEverybody expects of being healthy, but health must be maintained to avoid excessive free radical exposure since it will trigger the onset of diabetes mellitus that is accompanied by an increase in the malondialdehyde level. Prevention of excessive free radicals can be done by utilizing Cucurbita moschata seeds. Antioxidants in Cucurbita moschata seeds play a role in overcoming and preventing oxidative stress in people with diabetes mellitus. The study aimed to determine the potential of ethanol extract of Cucurbita moschata seeds on the malondialdehyde level in diabetic mice. This study applied an experimental research method with a posttest control group design. The subjects were 24 male mice aged one month with a bodyweight of 20-30 grams and were divided into six groups: negative control, positive control, metformin control, and treatment groups of ethanol extract Cucurbita moschata seed doses of 180, 360, and 720 mg/kgBW given orally for 14 days. The results of the study showed that ethanol extract of Cucurbita moschata seeds on all treatment doses could reduce the malondialdehyde level (Kruskal Wallis p 0.04 <0.05), but the most effective dose was 360 mg/kgBW. In short, all treatment doses can reduce the malondialdehyde level, but the most effective dose is 360 mg/kgBW. Keywords: Cucurbita moschata, malondialdehyde, diabetes

Abstract

The aims of this study is to know the effectiveness of ethanol extract of red betel leaf (Piper crocatum) against mortality of Boophilus microplus Larvae in Vitro, as well as knowing lethal concentration 50 (LC50) and lethal concentration 90 (LC90). Method that used in the research was completely randomized design. There were five treatments and each treatment was done in five replications. This research used ten Boophilus microplus larvae in each treatment for all replication. The observation and recording of mortality was done at 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 hours. Boophilus microplus larvae were declared dead if there was no movement. The obtained data was analyzed using ANOVA factorial. The result of this research show that ethanol extract of red betel leaf (Piper crocatum) has effectiveness against mortality of Boophlius microplus larvae in Vitro. In the extract 10% concentration, there is effectiveness that almost the same as Noticks®. The higher concentration of the extract, the higher the effectiveness against mortality lavae.In probit analysis show that LC50 achieved by concentration 5,4% or 2.700mg/50ml and LC90 achieved by concentration 11,3% or 5.650mg/50ml.

Abstract

The aims of this community dedication: 1) Improve the economy of the villagers of Watubonang and Biting, Badegan Ponorogo district through changing mindsets to improve people’s welfare 2) Increasing the knowledge and skills of the villagers of Watubonang and Biting, Badegan Ponorogo district through technology transfer for making pecticide formulations, antiscabies drugs, antiseptik, compost manure disinfectant, dipping solution based on tobacco waste. The result of the communiy dedication implementation showed an increase in participants on how to manufacture various kinds of tobacco waste products from 6.7% to 93.3% and an increase in the skills of participants on how to manufacture various kinds of tobacco waste products from 6.7% to 93.3%. in addition to the increased knwoledge and skills of the community dedication participants in Watubonang and Biting villages, Badegan Ponorogo district, it showed a decrease in the average cost of using medicines, antiseptiks, and disinfectants per house from 210 thousand rupiah to 42 thousand rupiah. Form the results of community dedication in the villages of Biting and Watubonang, Badegan Ponorogo district, it is hoped that they will become fostered villages of FKH Unair.

Abstract

AbstractGracilaria is a species of red algae which has potentially to culture. Generally, the culture is done in ponds, but today some ponds are use for housing and the pond number are decreasing, and the other hand the water quality of ponds is contaminated by industrial wasted. To overcome these problems, the solution is doing culture in a controllable tanks, no large space is needed, it can do in house, no seasonal influences and the supporting factors like o onutrient, pH, light intensity, temperature (C), salinity (/ ) and water circulation are easily to control. The purpose of oo this research is to determine the effect of water replacement on growth and the total number of chlorophyl a on Gracilaria verrucosa. This research was held at June 19 th 2009 – July 22 th 2009 in Laboratorium Kering, Fakultas Perikanan dan Kelautan and as the comparison is Desa Pulukerto Kecamatan Kraton, Kabupaten Pasuruan, Jawa Timur. The growth measurement in Public Health Veteriner Departement Faculty of Medical Veterinary Airlangga University Surabaya. The chlorophyll a measurement was held in Patology Clinic Departement Faculty of Medical Veterinary Airlangga University Surabaya. This research use Fully Randomized Design method with 5 treatments : in treatment A there was no water replacement (0%), in treatment B the replacement was 25%, replacement in treatment C was 50%, treatment D was 75% and in treatment E, all the water taking out from the tank was 100% replaced by new water from the reservoir, replicated four times. The growth data (heavy and length), with Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and continueted with Duncan Multiple Range Test.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penggunaan probiotik yang mengandung Enterobacter sp., Cellulomonas sp., Actinomyces sp., Bacillus sp., dan Lactobacillus sp. terhadap feed efficiency dan egg mass pada Ayam Petelur. Sebanyak 36 ekor ayam petelur umur 30 minggu yang terdiri dari 3 perlakuan.  Perlakuan terdiri dari P0 (tanpa probiotik), P1 (probiotik 1 ml/liter), P2 (probiotik 2 ml/liter). Hasil penelitian pemberian probiotik berpengaruh (p<0.05) terhadap feed efficiency dan egg mass. Pemberian probiotik sebanyak 2 ml/liter air minum (P2) menunjukkan nilai feed efficiency tertinggi (66.1b ± 3.29). Nilai egg mass tertinggi (51.9b ± 3.36) terdapat pada P1 yaitu perlakuan yang diberi probiotik sebanyak 1 ml/liter air minum. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian probiotik dengan dosis 1 ml/liter (P1) maupun dosis 2 ml/liter (P2) meningkatkan feed efficiency dan egg mass.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the protective effect of ethanol extract of kesum leaves (Polygonum minus) on the number of Leydig cells in mice exposed to cadmium chloride (CdCl2). A total of 20 male mice were divided into five groups, each group consisting of four replications and then given different treatments orally for 21 days. The treatment groups included (K-) 0,5% CMC Na suspension + distilled water, (K+) 0,5% CMC Na suspension + 12 mg/kgBW/day cadmium chloride, (P1, P2, and P3) ethanol extract of kesum leaves, respectively. -respectively 200, 400, and 800 mg/kgBW/day + 12 mg/kgBW/day cadmium chloride. Observations were made by counting the number of Leydig cells. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan's test. The results showed significant differences (p<0,05) between groups P1, P2, P3 and K+. On the other hand, the P2 group showed similar results to K-. In conclusion, the ethanol extract of kesum leaves can protect and maintain the number of Leydig cells in the testes of mice from exposure to cadmium chloride, and the optimal dose was 400 mg/kgBW/day.

Abstract

Burns not only damage skin locally but generally affect the body system and have been related as the secondary cause of death. Burns can be effectively treated with a topical drug to prevent chronic inflammation. Burn wound healing is really important for ensuring overall health and well-being. This study aimed to determine the effect of Sauropus androgynous leaves extract gel on the number of fibroblasts, fibrocytes, and collagen density on burn wound healing in albino rats. A total of 50 male albino rats were randomly divided into five groups i.e. (C-) was normal skin, (C+) was skin burn treated with placebo, (T1) was skin burn treated with 2.5% of S. androgynous leaves extract gel, (T2) was skin burn treated with 5% of S. androgynous leaves extract gel, and (T3) was skin burn treated with 10% of S. androgynous leaves extract the gel. The amount of 25 albino rats' skin samples were collected on the 8th day, and the remaining samples were collected on the 15th day. The results showed that 10% of S. androgynous leaves extract gel improved faster, as indicated by the increased number of fibroblasts, fibrocytes, and collagen density. This study can be concluded that 10% of S. androgynous leaves extract gel was the effective dosage to increase the number of fibroblasts, fibrocytes, and collagen density in burn wound healing.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the level of stability of Megestrole acetate-retention time in storage period for six, eight and 12 hours using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The research method used posttest-only control group design by using three treatments and six repetitions. The three repetitions consist into six hours, eight hours and 12 hours. The data were obtained analyzed by Summery Independent T-Test with SPSS 24 for windows. The result showed six hours retention time of Megestrole acetate is stable and eight hours treatment and 12 hours treatment are not stable there is one unstable point of 12 hours treatment that indicates the substance is break down. Based on those result, it could be concluded that the storage time of Megestrole acetate in Eluent Mobile Phase began to show unstable at eight hours of storage.

Abstract

According to WHO (2010), the Trimeresurus albolabris snake is a venomous snake with a high number of bite cases in Indonesia. Information on the character and level of toxicity of snake venom in Indonesia, including Trimeresurus spp. snakes, is still minimal. This study aims to determine the LD50 value (lethal dose 50), clinical symptoms, and to determine the macroscopic appearance of the liver and kidneys of mice (Mus musculus) after being injected by a the white-lipped pit viper (Trimeresurus albolabris) venom. The LD50 value of Trimeresurus albolabris venom injected subcutaneously into mice was 5,09 mg/kgBW. Clinical symptoms that appear increased movement activity, increased respiratory rate, lethargy, decreased activity, and reduced grooming. Macroscopic appearance of the liver that looks abnormal is found (1) color changes in the form of pale, pale yellowish, and red spots (petechiae). (2) changes in surface structure found only one liver that is not flat. (3) changes in consistency in the form of brittle easily. In the kidney that looks abnormal, found (1) changes in color in the form of pale. (2) changes in surface structure were only found in one kidney in the form of nodules. (3) changes in consistency in the form of brittle easily and soft.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the anthelmintic activity ethanol extract of porang tubers (A. oncophillus) against F. gigantica worms in vitro. There were five treatments and each treatment was done in five replications and used 10 F. gigantica. The treatments of this research were K- with CMC Na 1%, K+ with Albendazole 2.4 mg/ml, P1 with extract concentration 5%, P2 with extract concentration 10%, P3 with extract concentration 20%. The results showed that the extract of Porang tuber (A. oncophillus) had an anthelmintic effect against F. gigantica worms in vitro. In the extract with a concentration of 20%, there were anthelmintic properties that almost the same as Albendazole. The higher the extract concentration, the higher the anthelmintic properties. The longer the immersion time, the higher the number of dead worms. The morphological changes was evaluated by light microscopic examination and the results showed many histopathological changes on the morphology of F. gigantica. The results indicate that the possible use of the tubers as a potential anthelmintic against F. gigantica.
