Abstract

Utilization of mental health services In Indonesia is still low, while the need for mental care is relatively high. Poor mental conditions will affect individuals in deploying their abilities or potential, leading to any daily pressure that is difficult to cope with. Prior to National Health Insurance (JKN), financing for mental health services was based on fee for service (out of pocket). Currently, the government is trying to grant access to mental health services with the JKN system in primary, secondary, and tertiary services. Implementing the JKN policy is expected to escalate the community's access to mental health. Since JKN was implemented in 2014, no one has seen how JKN participants actively participate in mental health services. This study will reveal how the participants utilized JKN mental health services in 2020. This quantitative study used a nested case-control design to take secondary data on BPJS Health Sample Data for 2015-2020. The bivariate analysis results using the chi-square test point out a significant relationship between age, marital status, FLHF type, participant segmentation, and the utilization of mental health services. Meanwhile, the multivariate analysis using the logistic regression test results demonstrates that age is the most influential independent variable in utilizing JKN mental health services, specifically the unproductive age group (p-value < 0.001).

Abstract

The spread of HIV/AIDS in Indonesia is increasing and dominated by housewives. This study aims to analyze the knowledge and sociodemographics that influence HIV/AIDS prevention behavior among housewives in Indonesia through data from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS 2017), the data used were women of childbearing age (15-49 years) with 12,445 samples. Cross-sectional study design with Chi-square test on bivariate analysis and logistic regression test on multivariate test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge and HIV/AIDS prevention behavior. Woman who had better knowledge about HIV/AIDS tended to use condoms more often and take HIV tests and had positive attitudes towards safe sex also positively correlated with better prevention behavior. Regression results also revealed that sociodemographic factors such as knowledge, age, latest education, economic status, and place of residence had a significant impact on HIV/AIDS prevention behavior. This suggests the need for a diverse approach in designing prevention education programs that suit the characteristics of housewives.

Abstract

Reproductive health, including miscarriages and abortions, remains a critical public health issue, especially in low- and middle-income countries such as Kyrgyzstan, where access to quality health services is limited, particularly in rural areas. Unsafe abortions contribute significantly to maternal morbidity and mortality, while miscarriages can have physical, emotional, and social consequences for women. This study aims to explore factors associated with miscarriages and abortions among women of reproductive age in Kyrgyzstan. This study used secondary data from Kyrgyzstan’s Multiple Indicator Survey (MICS) 2023, which provides comprehensive data on health, education, and living conditions. The survey focused on women aged 15–49 who had experienced miscarriage or abortion, analyzing factors such as age, marital status, education, and wealth index. Data analysis was performed using binary logistic regression with STATA software to identify demographic and socioeconomic factors associated with miscarriage and abortion. The finding of this study were 11.47% of women experienced miscarriage and 6.45% experienced abortion, with most participants aged 30-39, married, with a junior high school education, residing in rural areas, and belonging to the Kyrgyz ethnic group. Factors linked to miscarriage included age, marital status, rural residency, Russian ethnicity, and wealth level, while factors associated with abortion included age, marital status, rural residence, and certain wealth levels (second, middle, and fourth). The study suggests prioritizing reproductive health education and support for women, especially those in rural areas and with lower to middle income, to help reduce the risks of miscarriage and abortion.
