Abstract

This study explores the use of conversational implicature in the "Sasa Tepung Bumbu Premium Collection" advertisement, with a specific focus on the slogan "Ada Rasa Ada Harga" (There is Taste, There is Price). It aims to uncover how the advertisement conveys persuasive and symbolic messages through deliberate violations of Grice's maxims. Combining pragmatic discourse analysis with a multimodal framework, the study analyzes verbal utterances alongside visual elements such as gesture, tone, music, and scene composition. Findings reveal that the advertisement uses ambiguity, metaphor, and visual reinforcement to construct emotional and symbolic value. The novelty lies in its integration of implicature theory, affective marketing, and multimodal analysis in the Indonesian advertising context, offering both academic insights and practical implications for marketers.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe how women are portrayed in the Like & Share film by Gina S. Noer. This study uses a descriptive qualitative methodology and examines Sara Mills' Critical Discourse Analysis. The role of women in movies is discussed in this study, focusing on how they are portrayed in stories, characters, and visuals. The information used in this study was gathered through observation and documentation methods and takes the shape of conversation, narration, characterization, and visual representations of female characters in movies. Researchers frequently and thoroughly viewed the film, noting significant details about the study's goals. The findings demonstrated that as the story progressed in the movie, women's status changed from object to subject. Like & Share also succeeded in dismantling patriarchal power relations in the representation of women and providing space for female characters to have agency over their traumatic experiences. The audience is not only positioned as passive observers but is also presented in an empathic position to be able to assess and understand the reality of women victims of digital-based sexual violence.

Abstract

This study analyzes the forms of expressions of acceptance in dialogues between students in Islamic boarding schools from a pragmatic perspective. This study aims to identify various expressions of acceptance used by students in daily interactions and to understand how the social and cultural context of Islamic boarding schools influences the use of these expressions. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through observation and recording of conversations that occurred in the Islamic boarding school environment. The results of the study indicate that expressions of acceptance can be manifested through various forms, including direct speech such as "iyo" or "matur nuwun," acceptance with choice, and nonverbal expressions such as nodding and smiling. In addition, the principles of politeness and cooperation in student communication are evident in the use of acceptance strategies that consider social norms and hierarchies in Islamic boarding schools. These findings complement the study of pragmatics in the context of communication based on Islamic values ​​and show that interaction patterns in Islamic boarding schools reflect a balance between compliance with norms and curiosity in communication.

Abstract

The low level of students’ initial reading skills and the urgent need to instill religious tolerance highlight the importance of developing innovative learning media. This study aims to develop KOPICA (Kotak Pintar Cerdas Aksara) to enhance initial reading skills integrated with religious tolerance and to evaluate its validity and practicality. The research applied the ADDIE development model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Expert validation results showed an overall score of 88.3%, while the practicality assessment by teachers and students indicated an average score of 92%. Data analysis using the Paired Samples t-test formula with SPSS 19 revealed a probability value (Sig) of 0.000, which is ≤ 0.05, confirming a significant difference and validating the effectiveness of KOPICA. The novelty of this study lies in the original integration of religious tolerance values into early reading materials, making literacy learning a natural vehicle for character formation from the earliest stages of education. The practical implication is that teachers and curriculum developers can utilize KOPICA as an innovative medium that not only strengthens students’ literacy skills but also fosters tolerant attitudes in daily classroom practices. This dual contribution aligns with the principles of 21st-century learning that emphasize student-centered approaches, while simultaneously preparing students for harmonious social interactions in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms and functions of deixis in the novel Drama Vendetta by Intanera. The focus of the research includes five types of deixis: personal, spatial (place), temporal (time), social, and discourse deixis. Personal deixis is used to reveal the identities of characters and the relationships between speaker and listener within the narrative. Spatial deixis indicates locations that are emotionally and narratively significant to the characters, while temporal deixis reflects shifts between past, present, and future that shape the story’s emotional and structural flow. Social deixis highlights status differences, emotional distance, and levels of formality in character interactions. Meanwhile, discourse deixis serves to maintain cohesion and continuity within the text by referring to elements mentioned elsewhere in the narrative. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through reading and note-taking techniques. The findings show that Intanera uses various types of deixis strategically to enrich narrative structure, express psychological conflict, and establish social relationships and emotional meaning throughout the novel. This study is expected to contribute to the fields of pragmatic linguistics and discourse analysis in literary texts.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze characterization techniques in short stories by Raditya Dika published on the Medium platform. Using qualitative descriptive methods, data was collected through reading and recording dialogue and character interactions in several short stories. The research results show that Raditya Dika succeeded in creating lively and relatable characters through detailed descriptions, intelligent dialogue and distinctive humor. The characterization techniques used add depth and meaning to his short stories, reflecting sharp observations of human nature and social dynamics. This research reveals that the characters in Dika's works not only function to move the plot of the story, but also enrich the narrative and leave a deep impression on the reader.

Abstract

Al-Banjari is an Islamic art originating from Kalimantan. Until now, there are still many teenagers who really love this art because of its stomping, dynamic, and varied rhythm. Musala An-Nur is one of the service partners who have the Al-Banjari hadroh group. However, Al-Banjari hadroh training activities at that place could not be carried out properly as usual during the pandemic and the PPKM rules. However, the children's enthusiasm for practice did not wane in the slightest. For this reason, the mentoring activity for Al-Banjari hadroh activities is carried out so that hadroh exercises can still be carried out. Based on these assets, the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach is applied in this service activity. The results achieved after carrying out this mentoring are that children in the Musala An-Nur environment can carry out hadroh exercises as usual and can develop their creativity in playing the Al-Banjari hadroh instrument. In addition, Al-Banjari hadroh activities can also increase the spirit of prayer during the pandemic. The selawat which is sung in the Al-Banjari hadroh activity is expected to be able to fill free time with positive activities. Al-Banjari merupakan sebuah kesenian Islami yang berasal dari Kalimantan. Sampai sekarang ini, masih banyak remaja yang sangat menggandrungi kesenian ini karena iramanya yang menghentak, rancak, dan variatif. Musala An-Nur merupakan salah satu mitra pengabdian yang memiliki grup hadroh Al-Banjari. Akan tetapi, kegiatan latihan hadroh Al-Banjari di tempat tersebut tidak dapat terlaksana dengan baik sebagai mana biasanya selama pandemi dan adanya aturan PPKM. Walaupun demikian, semangat anak-anak untuk berlatih tidak memudar sedikitpun. Untuk itu, kegiatan pendampingan kegiatan hadroh Al-Banjari ini dilakukan agar latihan hadroh tetap bisa terlaksana. Berdasarkan aset tersebut, pendekatan Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) diterapkan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini. Hasil yang dicapai setelah melaksanakan pendampingan ini adalah anak-anak di lingkungan Musala An-Nur dapat melaksanakan latihan hadroh sebagai mana biasanya dan bisa mengembangkan kreativitasnya dalam memainkan alat hadroh Al-Banjari. Selain itu, kegiatan hadroh Al-Banjari juga dapat meningkatkan semangat berselawat pada masa pandemi. Selawat yang dilantunkan dalam kegiatan hadroh Al-Banjari ini diharapkan dapat mengisi waktu luang dengan kegiatan positif.

Abstract

Innovations in contextual learning, such as literature instruction at higher education, are necessary for the digital transformation of education. Students' respect, sensitivity, and comprehension of cultural values can all be strategically developed through literature rooted in the local culture. The purpose of the study is to describe the use of flipbooks based on local culture in contextual literature learning and examine students' responses and perceptions. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with 31 students from the PGMI program at UIN Kiai Ageng Muhammad Besari Ponorogo who are enrolled in the Language and Literature Skills course as the subjects. In this study, the research data is the literary learning process using flipbooks based on local culture. Data collection was conducted through classroom observation, in-depth interviews, and the distribution of questionnaires to students. The questionnaire in this study was only used to support student response data in using flipbooks during learning. The results of the study indicate that flipbooks were used in three stages of learning: (a) introduction to the material, (b) discussion of the content of the short stories, and (c) analysis assignments. Students demonstrated high enthusiasm for using flipbooks, particularly due to their attractive format, ease of access, and the relevance and familiarity of local cultural values. The interactive features in the flipbooks further strengthened students' understanding of the cultural context of the stories. Thus, locally-based flipbook media can create a contextual, critical, and reflective literary learning experience while enhancing appreciation for cultural diversity.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis tindak tutur ekspresif dan direktif dalam film Kejar Mimpi Gaspol karya Hasto Broto. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis tindak tutur ekspresif dan direktif dalam film Kejar Mimpi Gaspol. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu berasal dari film Kejar Mimpi Gaspol yang tayang di Bioskop 6 Juli 2023, film ini disutradarai oleh Hasto Broto. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik simak catat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tindak tutur ilokusi yang digunakan dalam film Kejar Mimpi Gaspol, yakni tindak tutur ekspresif sebanyak 26 tuturan dan tindak tutur direktif sebanyak 17 tuturan yang mendominasi dalam percakapan antartokoh. Temuan tersebut mengimplikasikan bahwa penggunaan tindak tutur dalam film tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai sarana komunikasi, tetapi juga menjadi perangkat penting dalam pembentukan karakter, penguatan pesan moral, serta pengembangan alur cerita. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi rujukan dalam kajian pragmatik khususnya analisis tindak tutur pada media film.

Abstract

This study aims to prove whether board learning media and mystery cards can be applied as an effort to improve students' speaking skills, the effect of board and mystery cards learning media on students' speaking ability. Using a quantitative approach to the type of experimental research. Data collection in this study used test instruments in the form of pre-test and post-test. Based on the results of data analysis, it was shown that board and mystery card learning media could improve students' speaking skills. This is evidenced by the increased post-test results in the experimental class, and the influence of board and mystery card learning media onstudents' speaking abilities, evidenced by the results of the independent sample t test, which shows t count 8.792 greater than t table 2.02439, and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. This means that Ho is rejected and Hi is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of board and mystery cards learning media on students' speaking abilities in the Indonesian language subject MI Ma'arif Cekok, Babadan, Ponorogo.
