Abstract

Preliminary research, through observations, questionnaires, and interviews, showed problems in fourth-grade science learning media about force. This research aimed to develop a digital pop-up book on the concept of force This research used the research and development (RnD) method. The stages of the research were finding potential problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design improvements, product test, product revision, usage test, product revision, and mass production. Media experts validated the pop-up book and assessed it in a category of qualified with a score of 89.50%, meaning that the media emphasized information accordingly to the target; the choice of font and size was correct; the media was attractive, easy to use, made it easier for students to understand the material, and made it easier for teachers to deliver the lesson. The content expert validated the content on force and assessed the accuracy of the content in the category of very suitable with a score of 91.25%, which means that the material was presented coherently, encouraged students’ curiosity, was appropriate to support the lesson, activating students, increased students’ knowledge, had clear visuals and text, had concise and clear language, and delivered suitable language level. The effectiveness of digital pop-up books in improving students’ understanding of the material was shown in the t-test result (13.513) and an average increase (N-gain) of pretest and post-test data of 0.55 with medium criteria. Participants’ questionnaire showed their opinions on the excellent quality of digital pop-up books. This research indicated that digital pop-up books on the concept of force met the media and content qualification criteria, which motivated and helped the students comprehend the information.

Abstract

The lack of diverse learning media was a factor that impacted student understanding, resulting in low learning outcomes. This study aimed to develop a problem-based learning (PBL) flipbook on environmental damage content as a media for science education in fifth-grade elementary. The research utilized the ADDIE model. The study used two classes: one experimental class with 22 students and one control class with 20 students. Data collection instruments included questionnaires and tests. The results indicated that the PBL flipbook media was highly suitable and effective for supporting science learning in fifth grade. Media experts validated the flipbook and rated it in the qualified category with a score of 93%, meaning that the media emphasizes presentation according to the target; the supporting presentation was interesting; the learning presentation was appropriate; the language used was appropriate; and the cover design and content were interesting. Content experts validated the flipbook and rated it in the very suitable category with a score of 91%, which means that the content was presented following the learning objectives; the content was presented appropriately; there were appropriate presentation supporters; the language used was appropriate and the level of language was appropriate for students; and appropriate learning syntax. The average user response was 91%, meaning that the flipbook content was presented appropriately; the flipbook was easy to use; the language level was appropriate, the flipbook was interesting; the flipbook was useful; and the learning steps were appropriate. The effectiveness of PBL-based flipbooks in improving students' understanding of the content was indicated by the results of the Sig (2-tailed) 0.01 t-test, meaning that there were significant differences in learning outcomes between experimental and control classes after treatment.

Abstract

Conventional learning and limitations in learning media made students passive in learning, which resulted in students' lack of interest in learning and achievement. This research aimed to develop innovative, technology-based instructional media, and to determine the validity and effectiveness of UTAYA, snakes and ladders media for contextual teaching and learning (CTL) of forces in fourth-grade. The research was developed using the Borg and Gall model. UTAYA was categorized as very appropriate for use with a validity percentage of 93% media experts, meaning that the media presented was interesting and appropriate to the content, easy to use by teachers and students, practical and fun, and had an appropriate appearance to the students’ level of development and character, Content experts validated and assessed the accuracy of the content of the media in the very appropriate category with a percentage of 91%, which meant that the content presented was appropriate to the learning objectives and made it easier for students to understand the content. The forces topic content was covered entirety in the media, stimulated students' curiosity, which was appropriate to support learning and increase students' knowledge, it used of appropriate language, according to students' development.  Based on the pretest and posttest results, UTAYA was effective to improve learning outcomes, as seen from the effectiveness of the t-test and Ngain tests. The t-test showed a Sig. <0.05, meaning there was a significant difference between learning outcomes before and after treatment. The N-gain test showed a medium criterion, 0.70 on a large-scale test, and a medium criterion, 0.64 on a small-scale test, that the students were very enthusiastic and could understand the lesson. From these results, UTAYA was valid and effective to be an instructional media to improve learning

Abstract

Technology-based learning media in social science are not readily available in primary schools. Meanwhile, learning media, especially technology-based, supports social science competencies for primary school students. This study aimed to develop learning media, named Raya-In (Ragam Budaya Indonesia), based on Smart Apps Creator to improve the social science learning of fourth-grade students in SDN Kangkung 01 within the Indonesian cultural diversity theme. This study used the Borg and Gall model design, which consisted of 8 stages: potential and problem analysis, data collection, product design, product validation, revision, small-scale trial, large-scale trial, and final product. The study involved media experts and content experts to validate the media. The subjects were fourth-grade students of SDN Kangkung 1 (n=39). Data was collected by observation, interview, pretest, questionnaire, documentation, and posttest. The final result showed that Raya-In passed the media and content experts' evaluation and revision processes. The media and content experts gave high scores in the qualified category. The Pretest, posttest, T-test, and N-gain tests showed that Raya-In supported social science learning. The study aligned with learning in the current era, using technology-based media. Raya-In development based on Smart Apps Creator was validated to support social science learning in primary school.

Abstract

This research was a quantitative research conducted in a fourth grade elementary school. The study aimed to determine the effect of the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model on students’ activeness and learning outcomes in fourth grade subject of changes in matter on the natural science subjects. Data collection techniques were observation and questionnaire. Data analysis in this study to finded the validity, reliability, hypothesis, and N-Gain Score tests. The hypothesis of was tested using t-test to find the influence of variables X1 to Y and X2 to Y. The results showed the t-test coefficient of the TPS learning model on learning outcomes obtained a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that there is an influence of the TPS learning model on learning outcomes. N-Gain results was 61.40, the meaning that the application of the TPS learning model improved students learning outcomes in the category of moderately effective. The result of TPS learning model on students’ activeness obtained a value of 1972 in the very active category. It was showed the TPS learning model was very influential on increase student activeness.
