Abstract

This study aims to describe how to improve student self-concept through the implementation of project based learning with scientific approach. The research design used is Classroom Action Research Kemmis and Taggart model by dividing the action research procedure in four stages of activity on one cycle (cycle), namely: planning, action, observation and reflection. Subjects in this study were students of class VIII which amounted to 33 students. The research data was collected using questionnaire instrument, observation sheet and test and data analysis using quantitative descriptive statistical analysis with the success criteria of the action seen from the average ability of self-concept of students ≥ 74.45 and percentage of learning based learning project with scientific approach ≥ 85%. The research or action ended in cycle II in the second meeting with the results of the study showed: students' self-concept ability with an initial average of 70.58 to 75.15 in the high category, while individually from the initial condition of students who categorized as very high 3.03 % to 21, 21%, medium category from 36, 36% to 18, 18%. Learning using project based learning with scientific approach at the end of the second cycle reached 94% and students who passed KKM 93, 94% with an average student 84, 70 from the target average student ≥ 75 or complete ≥ 75%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the differences in student learning outcomes in mathematics courses between school graduates majoring in science and social studies. The type of research used is non-experimental quantitative research, namely comparative research. The sample of this research is the students of UNMAS Denpasar PSDKU Mataram Campus. The results showed that (1) the average (mean) learning outcomes of students majoring in science were 71.78 while the average learning outcomes for students majoring in social studies was 62.50. This means that in terms of the average learning outcomes, it can be said that the learning outcomes of students majoring in science are higher than the learning outcomes of students graduating from social studies and the standard deviation of learning outcomes for social studies graduates is greater than that of science. (2) There is a significant difference in student mathematics learning outcomes between school graduates majoring in science and social studies with a significant number of 0.024 < 0.05 at UNMAS Denpasar PSDKU Mataram Campus

Abstract

Teachers must be able to make and develop learning plans, create student activity sheets according to learning needs, and valid learning outcomes test. This study aims to describe the competence of beginner math teachers in making learning tools for SMP / MTs in East Lombok. This research is a survey research with descriptive statistical design that uses concurrent embedded strategy of mixed method approach. The number of samples in this study is 246 mathematics teachers who teach in SMP / MTs in  East Lombok region, which are determined using purposive sampling technique. The research data is collected using instruments in the form of checklists and questionnaires. Data analysis uses quantitative descriptive statistical analysis with competency tendencies in five categories: very competent, competent, quite competent, less competent, and incompetent. The results obtained are 1) the beginner's mathematics teacher competence in making lesson plans is categorized as competent with a percentage of 60.98%, an average value of 81.287 and a standard deviation of 7.983. 2) Competence of beginner mathematics teachers in making LKS included in the category of quite competent with a percentage of 54.07%, an average value of 76.659 and a standard deviation of 7.739. 3) Competence of beginner math teachers in making THB included in the competent category with a percentage of 74.39%, an average value of 81.664 and a standard deviation of 7.135.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of student confidence in mathematics on students' mathematical problem solving abilities. This type of research is a quasiexperimental study and the sample in this study is a class XI student majoring in hotel accommodation with 31 students. Retrieval of data using questionnaire and test instruments. The results of this study obtained the average student confidence in mathematics at 60.23 with a standard deviation of 3.66. While the mathematical problem solving abilities of students obtained an average of 66.94 with a standard deviation of 9.63. Students 'trust in mathematics and students' mathematical problem solving abilities are quite sufficient. There is an influence of students 'trust in mathematics on students' mathematical problem solving abilities indicated by F count (4,746) ≥ F table (4,18) or significance number at 0,038 ≤ 0.05 ANOVA. The magnitude of the influence of student confidence in mathematics on students' mathematical problem solving abilities is 14.1%. The regression equation obtained by Y ̂ = 7.455 + 0.988X + ϵ. This means that if the value of student confidence in mathematics is 1 unit, then the value of the predictive variable will increase by 0.988. The higher the confidence of students in mathematics, the mathematical problem solving abilities of students will also increase.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of student confidence in mathematics on critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes. This research is a quasi-experimental study, the sample in this study is X class students majoring in hotel accommodation as many as 30 students. Retrieval of data using questionnaire and test instruments. The results of this study indicate that the average student confidence in mathematics is 58.06 with a standard deviation of 3.65. While the ability to think critically and student learning outcomes obtained an average of 56.94 with a standard deviation of 9.63. The influence of students' trust in mathematics on critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes have a positive effect shown by F arithmetic (4,485) ≥ F table (4.18) or the significance number in ANOVA 0.043 ≤ 0.05. The magnitude of the effect of students' trust in mathematics on critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes of 13.4%. The regression equation obtained by Y ̂ = 0.866 + 0.966X + ϵ. This means that if the value of students' trust in mathematics is 1 unit, the value of the predicted variable will increase by 0.966. The higher the student's confidence in mathematics, the ability to think critically and student learning outcomes will also increase.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the type and location of student difficulties in solving matrix problems. This research is a survey research with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The sample in this study were 13 students from the Civil Engineering Study Program at Mataram UNMAS Denpasar Campus. Retrieval of data using test instruments and analyzed using quantitative-qualitative analysis. The results of this study indicate that the type of student difficulties related to facts is 13.64%, the difficulty in the concept is 31.31%, the difficulty in principle is 28.79% and the difficulty in the skill is 26.36%. While the location of students' difficulties on points is known to be 12.52%, points were asked at 12.52%, formula points were 4.46%, systemic completion points were 15.78%, inter-concept links were 11.15%, relationship points facts - concepts 12.35%, mathematical basic operating points 12.41% and final answer points 16.81%. The type and location of the most dominant difficulties students have in solving matrix problems lies in understanding the concepts and final answers of students.

Abstract

Learning or lectures that have to be carried out with an online system after the Covid-19 have surprised universities and students who are particularly underdeveloped in the field of science and technology. The purpose of this study is to describe the effectiveness of learning mathematics using an online system. The research design used was Classroom Action Research with the Kemmis and Taggart model. The results of this study indicate that: (1) Learning or lectures with an online system in mathematics can be implemented by 83% or 5 points out of the 6 specified criteria have been implemented. (2) The effectiveness of learning mathematics using an online system after being held for 1 semester or 14 meetings obtained an average student score of 75.50 with a specified target of 70. This means that it is effective when viewed classically. (3) The effectiveness of learning mathematics using an online system after being held for 1 semester or 14 meetings, the number of students who completed it was 69% or from the specified target of 75%. This means that 31% of students are still incomplete, so it can be said that the online system for learning mathematics is not yet effective when viewed individually.
