Abstract

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is an infection that attacks the body’s immune system, specifically the white blood cells called Lymphocytes CD4+ T cells. Antiretroviral therapy is the main treatment used in the management of HIV / AIDS. Antiretroviral therapy proved able to suppress viral replication and increase the number of CD4 T-cells so as to suppress the progression of the disease. CD4+ T cell counts is an important indicator to determining the level of immunity of the human body, maintaining the number of CD4+ T cells in normal limits to defend themselves from complications related to HIV/AIDS in particular to prevent opportunistic infections. The number of CD4+ T cells will determine when people living with HIV should begin antiretroviral therapy. To determine the immune status and disease progression in a person infected with HIV, a CD4+ T cell count is performed. Without antiretroviral (ARV) therapy, most people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) will become progressively immunodeficient, which is characterized by a decrease in the number of CD4+ T cells, then progresses to AIDS and can end in death. The purpose of this study was to describe the number of CD4+ T cells in HIV/AIDS patients who had received ARV therapy at Prof. Hospital. Dr. W.Z. Johannes Kupang. Descriptive observational analysed data from medical record of HIV/AIDS patients with antiretroviral therapy. A Total 100 patients who were eligible included in the study had both a CD4 lymphocyte CD4+ T cell count during 2020-2021. The average difference before and after therapy using Test with p-value 0.000 (p-value <0.05) indicates that there is a significant difference between the number of Lymphocytes CD4+ T cells counts before and after therapy.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis which can be transmitted from one person to another by inhaling droplets coughed or sneezed by an infected person. One of the most recent technologies today is the rapid immunochromatography (ICT) method for testing TB antigens. This test detects antigens secreted by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, namely the early secretory antigenic target 6 kDa protein (ESAT6), culture filtrate protein (CFP 10), and Mycobacterium tuberculosis protein (MPT64) encoded by region of difference genes (RDI, RD2, and RD3). The purpose of this study was to determine the validity of TB ICT antigens in diagnosing pulmonary tuberculosis. The research method used is a diagnostic test with a cross-sectional study design. The population of this study was all pulmonary TB patients who were examined at the Prof. Hospital Laboratory. W.Z. John. The samples used in this study amounted to 81 samples which were preceded by smear examination and then 47 samples of M. tuberculosis culture on Lowenstein Jensen media which was used as the gold standard, the results of the examination were 41 samples growing and 6 samples not growing. The sensitivity and specificity of the Rapid ICT TB antigen test were 75.61% and 100%, respectively. The conclusion of the rapid ICT TB antigen test has high validity, so it can be used as an alternative laboratory test for the diagnosis of pulmonary TB.

Abstract

Abstract

Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease induced by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis and can attack human organs, especially the lungs. The entry of this antigen causes the release of various pro-inflammatory cytokines which cause liver cells to synthesize acute phase proteins such as C-Reactive Protein (CRP). C-Reactive Protein is a type of alpha globulin protein that appears in the blood in response to inflammation in the body. The aim of this study was to determine the description of CRP in pulmonary tuberculosis patients at the Naibonat Community Health Center. The method used is descriptive with a cross sectional study design method. This research was carried out at the Naibonat Health Center Laboratory, Kupang Regency from February to April 2024. The examination method used was the qualitative latex agglutination method. The results of CRP examination on pulmonary TB patients from a total of 23 respondents obtained reactive results for 8 samples (35%) and non-reactive results for 15 samples (65%). Based on the results of reactive CRP, the highest number was found in males, 6 people (26%), while the highest number was found in the age range 12-25 years, 4 patients (Teenagers) (17%), with the highest length of treatment at 0 -2 months (intensive stage) as many as 6 patients (35%), with the highest patient status being new TB as many as 8 patients (35%), with the highest treatment status being non-resistant as many as 6 patients (26%).

Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that occurs when the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy joints. The disease can start at any age, but the likelihood of onset is highest in older adults. In Rheumatoid Arthritis the tissue lining the joints becomes thickened resulting in swelling and pain. Elderly is an age that has a greater possibility of having an autoimmune this is based on the statement that the older you are, the greater the chance of having an autoimmune. Early diagnosis and treatment isthe key to successful treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis because joint damage cannot be restored once it occurs. Rhematoid Factor examination is largely used to help diagnose rheumatoid arthritis. Community service activities aim to determine the description of RF levels in the elderly with supply disorders, descriptive research type with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling as many as 62 elderly people in the Social Service of NTT Province. The results of RF examination in all elderly samples 6.45% have positive results and 93.55% negative results.

Abstract

Health is a state of well-being, encompassing physical, mental, spiritual, and social aspects that enable individuals to live productively both socially and economically. Generally, in society, the understanding of clean living behaviors is still low due to a lack of information on the importance of clean living behaviors and the limited facilities that support them. Early introduction to clean living behaviors is crucial so that children become accustomed to practicing them. This community service activity is carried out to enhance the knowledge, awareness, willingness, and ability of the community, especially students of SD GMIT Bone, to engage in Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) and to provide facilities that enhance awareness of clean and healthy living. One way to prevent health problems is by educating children on how to wash their hands with soap and the importance of personal hygiene. The PHBS education and practice provided to children help increase their awareness of clean living behaviors and maintaining environmental cleanliness with the facilities provided.
