Abstract

The goal of the study was to analyze the water quality of dug wells based on Bali Governor Regulation No. 16 of 2016 and Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No.492/Menkes/Per/IV/2010, which analyzes the quality status of dug well water and its distribution based on the Pollution Index (IP) value and community behavior in Sanur Kauh Village, South Denpasar. Purposive sampling at three stations with three repeats was used to determine the sample. Temperature, color, taste, odor, TDS, turbidity, pH, DO, BOD, COD, Nitrate (NO3-N), Phosphate (PO4), Chloride (Cl-), Iron (fe), E. Coli, and total coliforms were among the parameters measured in situ and ex situ (laboratory). Questionnaires and interviews with respondents who used dug well water were used to collect data on perception and behavior of components (households, business actors and/or activities, farmers, and the government), which were analyzed using a Likert scale and binary model. Surfer and GIS were used to map the water from an excavated well. The results of the analysis of the quality of dug well water exceeded the Class I Water quality standard set by Bali Governor Regulation No. 16 of 2016 for BOD, COD, phosphate, nitrate, iron, total coliform, and turbidity parameters, as well as the Indonesian Minister of Health Regulation No.492/Menkes /Per/IV/2010 for BOD, COD, phosphate, nitrate, iron, total coliform, and turbidity parameters Population activities, pollution sources, climate, soil type and topography, height and depth of the well all influence the water quality status of dug wells, which is classified as moderately polluted. The average community's impression of the provision of dug well water, water pollution, and waste management is positive, and the average community conduct is positive. Abstract

Rainfall is one of main causes of floods. Monitoring of the rainfall is essential for understanding flood mechanism and early warning. Ground-based rain gauge is a conventional device to measure rainfall amount and considered as a point measurement. Satellite-based rainfall estimates provides complement measurement over wide area having few or even no in situ data. This study evaluates rainfall intensity variation and patterns preceding flood events in Indonesia for the period of 2003-2010 using the GSMaP_MVK satellite-based rainfall product with one hour and 0.1o x 0.1o resolutions and rain gauge station data as a benchmark. The analysed data are 3-hourly average and daily accumulation time steps. The chosen research locations were Medan City, Pekanbaru City, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Samarinda City and Manado City. Graphical comparisons of the GSMaP_MVK with the rain gauge data show discrepancies in capturing rainfall events and intensity. The GSMaP_MVK performs underestimation for the most areas, except Samarinda City, which is overestimated. Short-term period rainfall pattern is the most frequent occurred preceding flood events for the entire study areas which indicate that the areas are more susceptible to flash floods and river overflows. Overall, the GSMaP_MVK product provides promising potentiality for the application of monitoring rainfall conditions preceding flood events over the research locations. Statistical verifications reveal that on average, correlation coefficients are (0.22-0.54) and (0.65-0.83) for 3-hourly and daily scale, respectively. While, probability of rain detections (PODs) are (0.57-0.75) and (0.93-0.99), accordingly.

Abstract

Precipitation is one element of climate that mostly studied in Indonesia because it has a very high diversity both temporal (time) as well as spatial (place). The diurnal cycle is one of the important factors in the occurrence of rain in the islands of Indonesia that have an impact on regional rainfall patterns in Indonesia. The diurnal cycle of precipitation is an essential component of the tropical climate and one of the predominant components of atmospheric variations. The aims of this research were to determine and analyze the spatial patterns and the characteristics of rainfall diurnal cycle in Java Island and the surrounding areas (Java Island, Java Sea and Indian Ocean) using remote sensing data. In this study, data from Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission satellite (TRMM) Precipitation Radar level 2A25 and wind data from National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) for 5 years period from 2007 to 2011 are used. The results of this research are the spatial patterns of daily rainfall in Java Island and the surrounding areas are different between land and sea. In the land, rain generally occur in the afternoon (12.00 to 18.00 LT), whereas in the ocean (the Java Sea and Indian Ocean) generally occur at midnight and noon (00.00 to 12.00 LT). The characteristics of rainfall diurnal cycle in Java Island and the surrounding areas are effected by land-sea physical properties, day-night cycle and by land-sea location.

Abstract

The conversion of paddy fields that occurred in Tabanan district has caused concern because the number continues to increase every year. Of the various forms of agricultural land use, paddy fields are land that has undergone many changes in designation so that the conversion of paddy fields occurs rapidly and massively. The total area of ??paddy fields that decreased in the 5 years from 2016 to 2020 was 1,193.54 hectares. Seeing this phenomenon, it is important to know how the status of rice fields in Tabanan Regency is sustainable using five dimensions, namely economy, ecology, social, technology and institutional. The data were obtained through interviews with Pekaseh (kelihan subak) and farmers who carried out the conversion of paddy fields in nine subaks in nine sub-districts in Tabanan Regency, namely Pupuan, Penebel, Baturiti, Kediri, Tabanan, Kerambitan, Selemadeg, West Selemadeg, and East Selemadeg Districts. The analysis used is MDS (Multi Dimension Scaling) which is an adjustment of Rapfish using RSI TM Software (Rapid Sustainability Index) which was developed for the assessment of sustainability functions in general. The results showed that the multi-dimensional sustainability index obtained a value of 59.70 with a moderately sustainable sustainability status with the index value for each dimension being 74.56 for the ecological dimension with moderately sustainable status, 48.82 for the economic dimension with less sustainable status, 75.42 for the social dimension with sustainable status, 52.43 for the institutional dimension with moderately sustainable status and 47.25 for the technological dimension with less sustainable status. It is suggested that the local government of Tabanan Regency should to pay attention to the attributes that exist in the economic and technological dimensions so that it is expected to change its sustainability status to be quite sustainable, or sustainable and the attributes that exist in the ecological and institutional dimensions (sufficiently sustainable) can shift its status to continyu so that the value of the multi-dimensional index can increase. Abstract

The growth of tourism in the Nusa Penida Tourism Area has an impact on the socio-cultural environment due to the development of tourism supporting facilities and infrastructure. Socio-cultural spaces also experience pressure due to conflicts of interest in the use of sacred areas for tourism, resulting in a process of desacralization. Social interactions are declining and arrogance is increasing at some tourist attraction points. Some physical spaces have become economic spaces. Road border, roadside, coast have become economic space. The way of thinking has been hegemony by the interests to get more economic access. The construction of the mind is filled with capitalist desires. Arrogance and ego between groups began to be seen in each particular area. The narrowing of social and cultural space has increased the critical power of the community towards the use of the area, especially spaces that are related to religion. Fighting egoism and social cultural conflict to catch up with the material culture. The social and cultural life of the Nusa Penida people is forced to adapt to material cultures. So fast tourism to Nusa Penida leaves the mindset, knowledge and culture that has been developing in the Nusa Penida community. Keywords: impact, social, culture, tourism, nusa penida
