Abstract

Denpasar City is the center of economic, education, health, and government activities in Bali Province. Denpasar City has the highest population compared to other regencies. The increase in population causes the demand for educational infrastructure also increasing. Fulfillment of educational infrastructure will certainly burden the road network, such as the School Safety Zone (SSZ) facility whose function is to maintain student safety when going to and from school. The objective of this study is to analyze the performance of roads before SSZ and in the SSZ area. The traffic volume survey at 3 elementary schools in Denpasar was conducted at peak hours in the morning and afternoon. The analysis of the performance of road sections using the Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (MKJI) 1997. The results showed that the degree of saturation before SSZ in SDN 5 Pedungan is 0.83 while at the SSZ area is 0.85, the degree of saturation before SSZ in Harapan School is 0.72 while at the SSZ area is 0.81, and the degree of saturation before SSZ in SDN 3 Peguyangan is 0.68 while at SSZ area is 0.71.

Abstract

Passenger Car Equivalent (PCE) is the conversion factor of various vehicle types into passenger car units. Characteristics and geometric road conditions affect the PCE value. The PCE value on urban roads has been determined in the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (IHCM) in 1997. Previous studies show that the PCE value for motorcycles according to IHCM isn‘t appropriate. The COVID-19 outbreak that occurs at Denpasar in early March 2020 led to a policy to restrict community activities outside the home, affects the traffic flow conditions in Denpasar City. The study's aim is to estimate the PCE value for the motorcycle at COVID-19 pandemic on mixed traffic flows in Denpasar and compare it with the PCE value in the IHCM. The PCE value is determined using the time headway method. The analysis results show the PCE value of the motorcycle during the COVID-19 pandemic was different from the PCE value of the IHCM.

Abstract

The development of development in urban areas will also have an impact on the land cover area. Efforts that can be made to determine urban development are by looking at land cover information through land cover maps. Land cover data can provide information in studying climate change and understanding the relationship between human activities and climate change. The method used is descriptive with interpretation of Landsat 8 imagery, using a Geographic Information System (GIS). Normalized Diffrence Vegetation Index (NDVI) is a calculation on an image that is used to determine the level of greenery as the initial division of vegetation and land cover areas. Klungkung Regency in the last five years continues to experience changes. The area of paddy fields in Klungkung Regency in the past five years tends to decrease. In 2013 the area of paddy fields was 3,843 Ha, reduced to 3,779 Ha in 2017. Based on the results of Landsat 8 satellite imagery, from 2016 to 2021 there was a decrease in the area of vegetation density by 35.11 km2 or 11.39% while the area of residential land cover increased by 29.98 km2 or 9.73%.

Abstract

Bali has been one of the most popular tourist destinations in Indonesia. However, on the other hand, Bali has a high risk of natural disaster vulnerability. The number of landslides in Bali took the first position compared to other natural disasters. Currently, remote sensing platforms can present Grid Satellite Rainfall Products (GSRPs), which provide rainfall information that can identify rainfall conditions for landslide events. This study aims to analyze the potential GSRPs application of Precipitation Estimation from Remotely Sensed Information Using Artificial Neural Networks (PERSIANN), the Integrated Multi-satellite Retrievals for Global Precipitation Measurement (IMERG), and Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation (GSMaP) in determining the mean rainfall intensities and duration (I-D); accumulated rainfall and duration (E-D) thresholds for landslide occurrences over Bali Island. The method used to develop I-D and E-D thresholds is the power-law equation and frequentist sampling method in various probability levels (5%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%). The result shows that I-D and E-D thresholds established by GSRPs are generally lower than the threshold defined by rain gauge observations. Among the three GSRPs, IMERG is performing the best in establishing the I-D and E-D thresholds for landslide phenomena. The level of potential that IMERG can use in developing the I-D and E-D thresholds is 59.16% and 84.06%, respectively. The E-D threshold derived from the IMERG product can be used to establish the landslide early alert system over Bali Island because it has a high spatial-temporal resolution, word-wide coverage, and near-real-time observation.
