Abstract

Mangrove forest are typical forest growing on along coasts, river mouth saffected by tides. This study was conducted on April to September 2018 in Mantehage Island, Bunaken National Park, North Sulawesi. It was aimed to evaluate vegetation cover change during the period from 1995 to 2017 and to deskrip condition of mangrove vegetation at locations where the vegetation covers were identified to have been change. Image interpretation method and ground checks were applied in the study. RGB composite results of 473 1995 Landsat-5 images, RGB 453 of Landsat-7 images in 2005 and RGB 564 of Landsat-8 images in 2017 showed the area of mangrove vegetation cover in 1995, 2005 and 2017 respectively were 1333.95 ha, 1371.53 and 1383.21 ha. There was an increase in the area of mangrove vegetation cover in 1995-2005 covering an area of 37.58 ha and in the years 2005-2017 covering an area of 11.68 ha. In total there was an additional vegetation cover change of 49,26 ha for 22 years. Result from ground check indicated that the change in vegetation covers occurred at locations subjected to sedimentation, natural recovery at previous clear-cutting areas and area of artificial plantation. The phenomenan of mangrove diebach was found in the middle part between the two mainlands of Mantehage Island. Abstract

The Tongkeina coastal waters have relatively extensive tidal areas. In addition to the seagrass community, there are also distinctive coastal communities such as mangroves and coral reefs. Coastal resources in this region are often used by the local community as a food source and have been used as a place of recreation and hotels as well. This is the reason for this study to find out the existence of gastropods on the seagrass beds in the Tongkeina area. It is expected that this study will provide information on the development and existence of the gastropods in coping with the pressure due to the construction of the hotel several years before. The methods of analysis used in this study including identification of gastropods, density, dominance, and diversity. The same research has been conducted several years before, and therefore this information was used as a comparison of the development of gastropods in the area. Thirty-five species (23 genera) were identified, with the highest density recorded was Nassarius gruneri, 0.8667 Individual/m², the dominance of 0.13972, and diversity (H'= 2.6853) which is greater than the results of the previous study 5 years ago (H’=1,9382). These results indicate that these waters are in the process of improving from previous environmental conditions. Keywords : Gastropod, coastal, domination, diversity, Tongkeina. ABSTRAKPerairan pesisir Tongkeina memiliki wilayah pasang surut relatif luas.

Abstract

The purposes of the morphometrics of seagrass Thalassia hemprichii study (based on samples taken from the coast of Bahoi Village, Likupang Barat Sub-district, North MInahasa District) were as follow: (1) to know the environmental conditions (temperature, salinity, pH, substrate) on the coastal area of Bahoi Village, (2) to describe the morphometrics of seagrass T. hemprichii,  and (3) to compare the morphometric of seagrass Thalassia hemprichii based on sampling stations. Data were collected using a survey method, to sample the seagrass T. hemprichii in three locations. As many as 30 individuals at each study location, were then measured using a digital caliper. The results of the measurement analyzed statistically show that the value was not significantly different. There is no significant difference in the size of the seagrass growth due to environmental conditions or environmental parameters that exist at these 3 stations and supposedly are still within the safe limits for seagrass growth. This evidence was gained based on the results of the ANOVA test (one way ANOVA) which was not significantly different.Keyword : Morphometrics; Thalassia hemprichii; Seagrass; Bahoi Village; Coast ABSTRAKTujuan Penelitian ini adalah mengetahui morfometrik Lamun Thalassia hemprichii berdasarkan sampel yang diambil di Pesisir Pantai Desa Bahoi Kecamatan Likupang Barat. yaitu : (1) Mengetahui kondisi lingkungan perairan lamun (suhu, salinitas, pH, substrat) di Pesisir Pantai Desa Bahoi, (2) Mendeskripsikan morfometrik dari lamun Thalassia hemprichii, (3) Membandingkan morfometrik lamun Thalassia hemprichii berdasarkan stasiun pengambilan sampel.
