Abstract

Anxiety in pregnant women can affect the labor process due to the psychological instability that occurs. Self-efficacy is one of the factors that can reduce anxiety in pregnant women. This study has a general objective of analyzing the relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety in third trimester primigravida pregnant women in agricultural areas. This study uses correlational quantitative research with a cross-sectional survey design approach. The sample consisted of 83 respondents, selected through non-probability sampling, specifically total sampling. The research instrument for measuring the level of self-efficacy was a self-efficacy questionnaire, and the level of anxiety was measured using the Pregnancy Related Anxiety Questionnaire-Revised 2 (PRAQ-R2). Data were analyzed using Kendall's Tau-b test, and the results obtained (p-value = 0.000, p < 0.05) showed a relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety in third trimester primigravida pregnant women. Self-efficacy affects the mother's mentality during pregnancy and childbirth because high confidence in her abilities makes her more motivated to maintain her health and feel satisfaction during the childbirth process. Pregnant women with high self-efficacy may better withstand reactions that trigger anxiety because they can solve problems using their abilities and think positively about situations. The conclusion obtained is that most respondents had high levels of self-efficacy and mild anxiety levels, and there is a relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety in third trimester primigravida pregnant women. Abstract

Cumulative exposure to solar UV radiation is linked to chronic skin and eye diseases such as skin cancer, photoaging, actinic keratosis, pterygium, cataracts, and possibly macular degeneration. This study aims to determine farmers' knowledge about UV rays on eye health in anticipating the dangers of excessive UV rays and increase farmer awareness of the sources and risks of UV rays for eye health. The method used is a literature review to examine the effects of UV Lights on the health and productivity of farmers in more depth. This literature search was conducted until March 19, 2023, using the PubMed and Science Direct article search engines, with the following search terms using the BOOLEAN Operator technique: "UV Light effects" AND "Farmer," "UV Rays" AND "Farmer," "Heat Effects" AND "Farmer." The analysis carried out in this study concluded that outdoor workers (PL), especially those working in sectors such as agriculture, construction, and fishing, are at high risk of exposure to the harmful effects of UV rays. Fishermen and farmers have a higher risk of cataracts due to excessive UV exposure to the eyes. One of the prevention efforts that can be done is health promotion regarding farmers' knowledge about UV light on eye health in anticipating the dangers of excessive UV light and increasing farmer awareness about the sources and risks of UV light for eye health. Health workers, especially nurses, can provide health services through supportive therapy to overcome physical and psychological problems in cataract patients and helps anticipate the dangers of UV rays at work.

Abstract

The community health center in Jember Regency has not been optimal in overcoming mental disorders in the community, causing increasingly complex mental health problems and impacting not only individuals but families and society itself. The family approach using self-help group (SHG) therapy is one way to be able to provide treatment for Person With Mental Illness (PWMI). The role of mental nurses is to explore mental health problems in PWMI and psychosocial problems in families with PWMI by giving SHG therapy. This study aimed to analyze the effect of self-help groups on the family's ability to care for PWMI. This study uses a pre-experimental design approach with a one-shot case study method. The measuring instruments used were self-help group SOP, PWMI daily living activity observation sheets, and a questionnaire on the family's ability to care for PWMI. The SHG will be held for four sessions involving PWMI, families, and the person in charge of mental health programs at the community health center. The results showed a significant increase in the family's cognitive abilities before and after getting a self-help group with a P-value of 0.040. and a significant increase in psychomotor abilities with a P-value of 0.043. It is hoped that nurses can form SHG to improve PWMI care in the community

Abstract

Pesticide exposure can have various negative impacts on pregnant women, especially for fetal development so that it can cause low birth weight. This study aims to analyze the literature findings over the past five years related to the relevance of pesticide exposure to the incidence of low birth weight in agricultural areas. This research method uses a literature review of 10 selected articles. The databases used were ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and PubMed, with the keywords pesticides, low birth weight, and agriculture. A total of 10 articles were obtained, and they will go through the screening process through inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results showed that pregnant women in agricultural areas have a greater risk of being exposed to pesticides, which can have an impact on the growth and development of the fetus they are carrying. In addition, it can also cause a decrease in IGF1 levels, which can impact the incidence of LBW. Pregnant women can do prevention by minimizing the use of chemicals containing pesticides and using personal protective equipment. This study found that pesticide exposure can increase the risk of low birth weight incidence in agricultural areas, where most people, especially pregnant women in agricultural areas, feel the negative impact of pesticide exposure on the incidence of low birth weight

Abstract

Introduction: Parental divorce has significant negative impacts on children’s psychological well-being, particularly in adolescents. Self-efficacy, which is influenced by an individual’s belief in their own abilities, is believed to influence the coping mechanisms employed when dealing with stressors. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-efficacy and coping mechanisms among adolescents affected by parental divorce in junior high schools in Jember Regency. Method: this study used a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The respondents were 60 adolescents aged 12-15 years selected using purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria. Data were collected using the general self-efficacy scale (GSES) to measure self-efficacy and the brief cope inventory to measure coping mechanisms. Data analysis was conducted using the kendall tau test. Result: the results showed that most respondents had high self-efficacy (91.7%) and employed adaptive coping mechanisms (90%). there was a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy and coping mechanisms (p-value = 0.000; r = 0.362). Analysis: these findings suggest that adolescents with high self-efficacy tend to be more able to use adaptive coping strategies. It is important to get support in building self-efficacy and understanding of adaptive coping mechanisms so that they can adjust well. Discussion: nurses as educators can teach effective coping strategies and can provide emotional support through counseling sessions. The role model method can be used to use emotional management that can be applied by adolescent victims of divorce. Keywords : adolescents, coping mechanisms, parental divorce, self-efficacy

Abstract

Problems experienced by early adolescents are often triggered by stressors related to physical, cognitive, and emotional changes, which may lead to low self-confidence and self-harming behaviors. These issues can cause psychological distress, thereby increasing the importance of family support. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between family social support and self-harm behavior among early adolescents in the agricultural region of Jember Regency. A correlational research design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The study population consisted of early adolescents enrolled in public junior high schools (SMPN) in Jember, totaling 2,191 students. A sample of 376 students was selected using proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the Perceived Social Support from Family (PSS-Fa) questionnaire and the Deliberate Self-Harm Inventory (DSHI). Bivariate statistical analysis using Kendall’s tau-C revealed a significant relationship between family social support and self-harm behavior in early adolescents in the agricultural region of Jember (p = 0.002, r = -0.081). These findings indicate that family social support plays a crucial role in maintaining adolescents' emotional stability and preventing self-harm behaviors resulting from difficulties in adapting to stressors.

Abstract

Crop failure often happens to farmers, so they are vulnerable to considerable losses, and farmers experience psychosocial disorders such as stress, sadness, and anxiety due to crop failure. When facing crop failure, it is necessary to have a stress-coping strategy to help farmers control their emotions. The method used was a literature review, with a search using three databases, namely Google Scholar, Pubmed, and ScienceDirect, using the keywords psychosocial, farmers, crop failure, and coping mechanisms. The journal articles used for review were 10 journals, with four international and six national journals. Psychosocial pressure on farmers is marked by increased stress in the form of anxiety, disappointment, low self-esteem, antisocial behavior, and loss of motivation to return to farming. Stress coping mechanisms carried out by farmers are perfect for controlling farmers facing crop failure. Besides, farmers have different coping mechanisms; for example, some do their favorite hobbies to distract their minds; on the other hand, some choose relaxation therapy and pray to calm their minds. Stress coping management is effective in helping farmers manage emotions when experiencing crop failure; many farmers can control stress when experiencing crop failure even though they divert it to something positive and some to something negative. In addition to crop failure, stress-coping management strategies can also overcome problems related to farmers' work.

Abstract

Introduction: The involvement of pregnant women in agricultural activities causes pregnant women to be exposed to chemicals contained in pesticides, which will have an impact on the health of pregnant women, especially on reproductive health, which can pose a risk of low birth weight babies. This study aimed to determine the relationship between pesticide exposure and the incidence of low birth weight in agricultural areas. Methods: This research was conducted using the literature review technique; the literature search process used three databases, including Google Scholar, PubMed, and Science Direct, with a publication range from 2020-2024. Results: Pesticide exposure in female farmers influences a determinant of LBW, namely participation in agricultural activities; some articles found that there was no relationship between pesticide exposure and the incidence of LBW; this is because the participation of mothers in agricultural activities is mostly not too long so that the intensity of pesticide exposure in the majority of mothers is still low, in addition, exposure non-organophosphate pesticides had more impact on skin problems in infants rather than low birth weight. Conclusions: Pesticide exposure during pregnancy influences the incidence of LBW; the role of nurses is needed in raising awareness of farmers and their families such as the use of personal protective equipment, managing pesticides according to standards, avoiding direct contact with someone who is bound by pesticides, and storing pesticides out of reach.

Abstract

Introduction: Parents of children with intellectual disabilities often deal with complex emotional and psychological challenges. This can affect parents' acceptance of their child's condition. Parental acceptance plays an important role in determining the ability to manage caregiving burden, which will have an impact on childcare. This study aims to analyze the relationship between acceptance and caregiving burden in parents of children with intellectual disabilities.  Method: This study used a cross-sectional design with total sampling technique involving 74 respondents. Inclusion criteria were biological parents who live together and care for children with intellectual disabilities at SLB-C TPA Jember and SLB Negeri Jember. Data was collected using the Parental Acceptation-Rejection Questionnaire (PARQ) and Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) and analyzed using Kendall's Tau-C correlation test. Results: The results showed that most respondents 68 (91.9%) had a high acceptance, while 42 (56.8%) experienced a mild burden. The p- value = 0.005 and the coefficient correlation r=-0,298, shows that there is negative relationship with a weak correlation between parental acceptance and caregiving burden in parents of children with intellectual disabilities. Conclusions: This study found that there is relationship between parental acceptance and the caregiving burden. The higher the parental acceptance, the lower the caregiving burden. Parents who can accept their children with intellectual disabilities tend to be more ready to deal challenges and are able to perform their parenting role with an adaptive attitude. Parental acceptance can reduce the perception of caregiving burden. The findings highlight that parents should increase their acceptance to children with intellectual disabilities to deal with parenting challenges more easily.
