Abstract

Abstract – PT. Aneka Adhilogam Karya is a national private company engaged in the sand-casting industry supplying its products to the Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum (PDAM) Indonesia. One of the products of piping supporting components manufactured is Clamp Saddle. Many of these products still have casting defects, such as gas porosity and shrinkage. Gating system is one of the most crucial factors to determine the quality of cast products. It is necessary to design a gating system for Clamp Saddle products. Then the casting simulation using ProCast 2018 needs to be done to get an optimal design and detect the presence of defect shrinkage or gas porosity. Furthermore, the sand casting process is carried out, and radiographic testing is carried out to detect defects in the inside of the Clamp Saddle product. The results of the study obtained agating system design with a pattern size of 400 mm x 335 mm then analyzed defects using ProCast 2018 on the variable total shrinkage porosity and air entrainment so that optimal results were obtained. Clamp Saddle product results from sand casting experiments were tested using radiography test(RT) to detect shrinkage or gas porosity and found some gas porosity but were still tolerable because of their small size of about 1 mm then they were few in number and were not gathered together

Abstract

It can be known that in the efforts to maintain and repair the railway, especially in the process of replacing the old rail into a new rail, sometimes overall still using human power or conventional means. However, there are generally tools used for the rail change process. The tool used for rail change is with rail mover. The use of rail movers is limited to the removal of rails only, while for the transfer of rails from one place to another by transporting by human power. So that in the process of working on the rails become less efficient. In addition, it only has one hook block, meaning that in one operation it can only move one rail. With such conditions, researchers will conduct a rail mover product development. The design result obtained safety factor H Beam has a value of 9,985 , deformation value of H Beam of 0.093368 mm, top buckling support value 50,465 times and bottom support 176.94 times, pin shear stress value of 7,618 N/mm2, hydraulic pressure value of 636.97 N/cm2 and scissor able to lift weight 36,440.59 N at highest position and can lift load 9,739.42 N at lowest position. The need for the number of rail movers used in the operation of the lifting and moving of the railway is as much as 1 piece of rail mover. The total cost for the manufacture of rail movers is obtained from the calculation of raw material costs and manufacturing costs. In the cost of raw materials for the manufacture of rail mover is Rp15,678,427 while for manufacturing costs of Rp13,350,000.

Abstract

One of the efforts to increase productivity is skillful and competent human resources, Surabaya State Marine Polytechnic as one of the Higher Education Institutions, has implemented the Teaching Factory Learning model, with this method the campus could do an cooperation with companies to make commercial products, in order to support Teaching factory, an innovation in conventional lathes is needed to duplicate and produce large quantities of manufactured product, therefore it is necessary to make a Turning Attachment for duplicating workpieces on conventional lathes. From those problem leads to an invention and investigation regarding the design, manufacturing process, cost of production, strength analysis, and working method of the Turning Attachment. In this study, the Ulrich method was used with the output of a tool that could perform duplication process that produced the desired shape. The results of the trial shows that this tool can duplicate the workpiece according to the mall with an angle below 39º, with acceptable tolerance of 0.1. The total production cost budget for the Turning Attachment is Rp. 3,144,000.00.

Abstract

Determining the combination of machining parameters is very important. The right machining parameters can produce optimal machining performance. EDM sinking is used to produce automotive components, aerospace, molds, and dies. AISI P20 is material that is widely used by manufacturing industry for dies and mold because of its hardness and resistance to heat. Based on these reasons, optimization is carried out to get appropriate parameter combination for the EDM sinking process using AISI P20. Process variables in this study are type of electrode, gap voltage, on time, and off time which aims to produce optimal response. Response variables observed were material removal rate, surface roughness, and electrode wear rate. Based on Taguchi method, matrix orthogonal L18 (21 × 73) was chosen for design of experiment. Taguchi method and Grey Relational Analysis used to optimize multiple responses simultaneously. Parameter optimum condition could be obtained by using graphite and setting values of gap voltage 50 volt, on time 250 ?s, off time 40 ?s. Percentage contribution of electrode type is 39,0733% whereas off time give contribution 32,4311%, on time 6,4574% and gap voltage 4,3590%.

Abstract

Outdoor Furniture Company is a company engaged in the manufacturing industry that produces goods according to orders received. In the production process, one of the orders currently being produced is found a condition that makes the production process not effective, namely the process of preparing raw materials which is still done manually. Therefore, this research was carried out by making a design for an uncoiler as well as being useful as a cutter for the process of preparing raw materials. The method used in this research is the Ulrich method, where this method consists of the stages of the development process to get the best design as needed. Based on the results of design, manufacture, and testing, an uncoiler cutting plate strip is produced as a tool for one of the manufacturing processes for cutting strip plate material. This tool is designed using Fusion 360 software and the Ulrich method for selecting the best concept from 3 existing concepts. After testing, this tool is able to cut strip plate material with various dimensions according to the plan and has a precision level under 5 mm, and is able to cut at a speed of less than 38 seconds, which means this tool is better than existing products in the company.

Abstract

PT. Rekaindo Global Jasa is a company engaged in manufacturing and engineering consulting services and railway component support, most of the production is to support the trainproduction process of PT. INKA (Persero). PT. Rekaindo Global Jasa participates in producing electrical components such as Static Inverter (SIV), and Variable Voltage Variable Frequency (VVVF) Inverter. Electrical components such as transformers, batteries, and controllers contained in SIV and VVVF which weigh more than 100 kg, of course require tools for the lifting process to fit into the frame box of the SIV and VVVF. PT. Rekaindo Global Jasa uses forklifts to install these components, because the only lifting equipment available in the workshop is forklifts, hand pallets, and hoist cranes. The process of installing components using the lifting equipment is very inefficient and takes 1 hour to lift and install only 1 component. From these problems, the authors raised these problems as research material for the final project regarding the Design of Floor Crane with a Maximum Lifting Capacity of 1 ton. In this study using the Ulrich method with an output in the form of a floor crane that can lift objects easily and can be adjusted in height and arm length, so as to simplify and speed up componentassembly. Based on the results of the tests carried out, the floor crane was able to lift an object weighing 500 kg as high as 50 cm in 1 minute, 1 second, 8 seconds and by moving the object as far as 5 meters in 20 seconds, 40 seconds with 1 operator.

Abstract

The development of the furniture industry in Indonesia is experiencing its heyday in recent years. The national furniture and handicraft industry is able to break into the international market through a variety of superior products that are considered to have attractive quality and designs. Products that have high demand in the international arena are chairs. The product in this study has a component, namely a woven plate that needs to go through a spot welding process. To simplify the welding process, it is necessary to have tools, namely jigs and sliding tables in order to save processing time during mass production later. Seeing these problems, tools will be made to support the spot welding process, namely jigs and tables that will be made specifically to adjust the material to be worked on and also adjust to the spot welding specifications contained in the company. Making the concept of jig and table as a tool will use the Ulrich method with stages starting from formulating problems and analyzing needs in the field, followed by making and selecting concepts, then proceeding with analyzing loading calculations. Based on the jig and table trials on spot welding, it produces products with a precision level of distance between product components and an angle precision level between product components above 90%.

Abstract

Building construction projects carried out by construction company in Sidoarjo are almost always equipped with handrails to secure the edges of the structural area of the building. The pipe in the project handrail must be notched first so that it can be assembled into a protective fence. Manual pipe repair is still used so that the contour of the resulting pipe is less precise and requires a long process. Base on the problem, it will be made an Adjustable pipe notcher design equipped with dual ragum to help the pipe repair process. Ulrich method will be used in the design concept of adjustbale pipe nocther with problem analysis stage and up to design concept making. Then it will be calculated the required motor power, shaft diameter, bearings. Machine manufacturing includes cutting processes, milling processes, lathe processes, grinding processes, and welding processes. Based on the test results of the machine obtained the results of pipe repair diameter 1.25 inch, 1.5 inch and 2 inch for 4.45 minutes, 6.30 minutes and 9.27 minutes which is faster than the process of manually disuffling pipes that takes 10 minutes, 12 minutes and 15 minutes. The total production cost of making adjustable pipe notcher machine is Rp. 3,421,000.

Abstract

In this study, designing a slopeway construction that serves as a connecting bridge between No. 1A Deck with No. 1B Deck on KM. Dharma Rucitra VIII so that it can be used as access to unload and load motorbikes. The stages of the slopeway construction design process will follow the applicable standards of the Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI). Thestages of the slopeway construction design process begin by calculating the cross-sectional modulus of the planned slopeway construction. Comparing the results of the calculation of the cross-sectional modulus of slopeway construction with the requirements of the crosssectional modulus that have been determined by BKI. Furthermore, carrying out the loading simulation process will use the FEM (fenite element methods) approach using the ANSYS Workbench software. Comparing the simulation results of slopeway construction loading with the allowable stresses determined by BKI. The results of this study indicate that design 3 has better quality than designs 1 and 2. The size of the construction is 8 mm thick plate, main web beam T 250x100x10, side and center girder T 250x120x10, supporting web beam L75x75x6, long girder L75x75x6. The equivalent stress value is 122.16 MPa, the bending stress is 75,458 MPa, the shear stress is 70,452 MPa, the strain is 6.30E04, the deformationis 5,1674 mm and has a construction weight of 5099.8 kg with a total budget of Rp. 18,159,579.27.

Abstract

One of the strategies to accelerate economic in facing global competition is to improve the development through community empowerment efforts in various fields of life through the implementation of appropriate technology. The oyster mushroom cultivation food industry sector also got the influence of technology. The use of technology in the food industry is one of the solution to meet the needs of oyster mushrooms in society. Therefore a machine is needed that can help the process of cultivating mushrooms, of which are still in the micro and small business category. Filling and pressing machines for mushroom growing media are expected to accelerate and increase the productivity of farmers. The production speed and worker effectiveness can be increased through two work processes in one machine. Integrated design method is used in designing and manufacturing the machine. The selection of the AC motor driving concept and only using the mechanical motion of the screw conveyor to fill and the crank slider to compact the planting media on the machine aims to avoid damaging the composition of the mixture. With the design of filling and pressing machines, it is expected that the mushroom growing media can meet the standard criteria for planting media, namely a height of between 21 to 22 centimeters and weighing between 1.3 to 1.4 kilograms.
