This study aimed to investigate EFL Junior High School Teachers’ Perception on the Implementation of Student-Centered Learning Models in the English Leaaon based on the 2013 Curriculum. This study employed a quantitative research design with used survey. The sample of this study are all of EFL Junior High School Teachers in 11 schools in Tabanan town, total 21 teachers. The data were collected by using questionnaire in which this study is close-ended and analyzed descriptively. The questionnaire used five-point likert scale to measure the level of response from the statements, namely; 1 (Strongly disagree), 2 (Disagree), 3 (Neutral), 4 (Agree), 5 (Strongly agree). The result showed that a lot of Teachers in Tabanan give positif response.

This qualitative descriptive study aimed at analyzing teachers' problems and solutions in implementing Student-centered Learning. This study involved an English teacher in SMA N Bali Mandara Singaraja. The instruments of this study consisted of voice recorder, field notes, interview guide, and researcher as the main instrument. The obtained data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman (1994) theory which consisted of data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/verification. The results showed that the teacher's problems included problems caused by students, teacher, and facilities to support learning. The teachers' solutions to solve the problems were by identifying the students' ability, motivating students personally, doing the class management well, using "stick talking" game to lead students to ask a question, instructed students to find more resources on the internet or library, giving a reward, instructed students to revise their planning when it was not meeting the minimum score before mobilizing them to the other group or permitting them to choose individual task based on their interest, grouping students evenly based on the identification result, scheduling and instructing them to do a discussion with their friend before consulting their project to the teacher and the last borrowing tools from the school facilities section and rotating the tool usage.

The globalization and 21st century learning needs students to adopt a better approach to learning. As there are two types of approaches namely surface approach and deep approach, it is needed to investigate which are students leaning towards to, including the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence them especially in the sudden transition of online learning in pandemic situation. Using the modified R-SPQ-2F and a semi-guided interview, the study was conducted in one high school in North Bali. Using Slovin formula, there are 200 respondents who participated in the study. The modified R-SPQ-2F were analyzed using the mean score analysis and the results are students leaning towards the surface approach in the context of EFL Online learning. The interview analyzed with interactive model analysis gives comprehensive view of the supporting and inhibiting factors of the deeper approach. Turns out personal motivation, teachers’ style of teaching, and environmental factors directs their approach. These findings showed that the student learning approach is one way to evaluate the learning process. Teachers, students, and government should consider this to re-adjust the current learning situation to improve the quality of education.

This study aims to analyze the character of The Boy as the main protagonist character in Roald Dahl's The Witches. The researcher collected the data by using the method of close reading and note-taking. As the main protagonist in the novel, The Boy was described as cheerful, curious, brave, and intelligent. He was described to be optimistically move on with his life after his parents’ deaths and after he was turned into a mouse. He was also a curious child, which lead him to investigate the witches' activity at the resort. As a brave and intelligent mouse, The Boy found tricks to tackle the Grand Witch and her army of witches. As a child who was turned into a mouse The Boy’s characterizations enabled him to save other children from being turned into a mouse. These characterizations could inspire children and readers in general to be optimistic in facing life.

This study aims to develop TBLT-based digital storybook to facilitate students’ literacy activities for 9th-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja. This research uses the Design and Development model by Richey and Klein (2014) as the basis of the methodology. Design and Development model has four stages, namely analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The data obtained from this study used instruments in the form of questionnaires, interviews, observations, and document analysis. The quality of TBLT-based digital storybook product received excellent product from two experts, and this product is valid to be applied in learning activities to facilitate literacy activities for 9th-grade students. The application of TBLT-based digital storybook was carried out through trial by small group as a formative assessment and get good responses from the teacher and students. The results of this study concluded that digital storybook-based TBLT with "Narrative Text" material for grade 9 students can help students to facilitate their English skills because it contains tasks according to the stages of TBLT which focus on developing students’ English skills. In addition, this digital storybook also helps the teacher in determining learning media that are innovative and can motivate students in learning activities.

This study aims to develop a digital storybook based on the TBLT method as a facility for literacy activities for grade 8 students at SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja. The method used in this research is the methodology of Richey and Klein (2014), namely the Design and Development research model. The data obtained in this study were collected with data collection instruments in the form of questionnaire interviews, observation, and document analysis. The quality of the digital storybook has been assessed by two experts with very good results and is tend to be valid to be used for learning media and encouraging literacy activities of grade 8 students.Â This digital storybook has been trialed in small groups of grade 8 to get responses and conduct formative assessments. The results obtained from the trial of digital storybooks based on the TBLT method with "Recount Text" material for grade 8 can help teachers and students in creating innovative and communicative learning activities through the tasks contained in the storybook. This digital storybook product helps students in facilitate literacy activities.

This paper aims to explore the influence of blended learning method on the teaching of English recount text writing and examine students’ perceptions toward the implementation of the method. The design of the study was a mixed-method research designs. The data were collected by using a pre-test, post-test, and an open-ended interview. The quantitative data were analyzed using independent samples t-test, while qualitative data obtained from interviewing students were transcribed, categorized, and interpreted using interactive model analysis. The quantitative data analysis showed there was a significant effect of the blended learning method towards students' English recount text writing with a large effect size (1.03). From the interviews, it was found that the students gave positive responses to the implementation of blended learning methods in teaching writing of recount text. It can be concluded that blended learning is an effective method for teaching writing recount text for senior high school. Other researchers are expected to expand the research variable and explore this method's implementation on different English skills.

This study investigated the learning approach of tenth-grade students in SMK Negeri 1 Singaraja in the EFL online learning context. The study employed quantitative research. The sample involves 89 students in tenth grade in the Hotel Accommodation program. This study used the R-SPQ-2F questionnaire which was modified for the online learning context. The data analysis was implemented in the R-SPQ-2F questionnaire mean score analysis. The results showed that tenth-grade students in SMK Negeri 1 Singaraja tend to surface approach (tsap= 29.55 > tdap= 28.32). It is suggested students will study in-depth to build meaningful learning by understanding concepts and developing potential optimally in the implication of learning English as a foreign language in the online learning context.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kompetensi menulis siswa yang diajar dengan Pictionary game yang diintegrasikan dengan Board Race game. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu. Sampel penelitian diperoleh dengan cara cluster random sampling dan diperoleh kelas V di SD Negeri 1 Lokapaksa sebagai kelompok kontrol dan SD Negeri 3 Lokapaksa sebagai kelompok eksperimen. Kelompok eksperimen diajar dengan menggunakan Pictionary game yang diintegrasikan dengan Board Race game, sedangkan kelompok kontrol diajar dengan menggunakan strategi konvensional. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah skenario pengajaran dan post-test. Penelitian experimen ini mengimplementasikan desain penelitian post-test only control group. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok siswa di kelas eksperimen mampu menunjukkan hasil yang lebih baik daripada kelompok siswa kelas control. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dari hasil t-test dimana nilai tobs adalah 2.816, sedangkan nilai tcv adalah 1.666 (tobs > tcv). Hal ini berarti bahwa penggunaan Pictionary game yang diintegrasikan dengan Board Race game mampu memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan pada kemampuan menguasai grammar Bahasa Inggris pada siswa kelas lima SD.Kata Kunci : Board Race game, strategi konvensional, penguasaan grammar, Pictionary game This study aimed at investigating whether or not there was a significant effect on the use of Pictionary game integrated with Board Race game as a learning strategy towards the fifth grade students’ grammar mastery. This study was a quasi experimental one. The sample of this study was selected by using cluster random sampling technique and SD Negeri 1 Lokapaksa was decided as a control group while SD Negeri 3 Lokapaksa as an experimental group. The experimental group was taught by using Pictionary game integrated with Board Race game, while the control group was taught by using conventional strategy. The instrument used in this study were teaching scenario and post-test. This experimental research implemented post-test only control group design. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The result showed that the group of students in experimental group could perform a better result rather than the group of students in the control group. It could be proven from result of the t-test in which the tobs was 2.816, meanwhile the tcv was 1.666 (tobs > tcv). It means that the use of Pictionary game integrated with Board Race game give significant effect toward the fifth grade primary school students’ English grammar mastery.keyword : Board Race game, Conventional strategy, Grammar Mastery, Pictionary game

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) yang bertujuan untuk (1) mengembangkan materi Bahasa Inggris yang dibutuhkan oleh siswa kelas X Jurusan Keperawatan di SMK Negeri 1 Kubutambahan; (2) mengidentifikasi desain materi Bahasa Inggris; dan menentukan (3) kualitas materi Bahasa Inggris yang dikembangkan berdasarkan kriteria dari materi ESP yang baik dan kriteria e-learning yang baik. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan pada desain penelitian dan pengembangan oleh Lee & Owens (2004). Desain ini meliputi: need analysis, design dan development. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, rekaman, interview, dan uji ahli. Data yang didapatkan dari hasil observasi, rekaman dan interview selama proses need analysis, telah dianalisis secara deskriptif, sedangkan data yang didapatkan dari hasil uji ahli, dianalisis secara kuantitatif dengan mengikuti rumus dari Candiasa (2010). Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa; (1) siswa kelas X Jurusan Keperawatan membutuhkan materi Bahasa Inggris yang spesifik sesuai dengan target pekerjaan yang mereka lakukan di masa depan; (2) materi Bahasa Inggris telah didesain menjadi beberapa unit, yaitu: General Assessment, Handling Patients, Patient’s Hygiene, Checking Vital Signs, dan Dimensions of Symptom; (3) dari hasil uji ahli yang berdasarkan dengan kriteria materi ESP yang baik dan kriteria e-learning yang baik, materi yang dikembangkan tergolong sangat bagus. Kata Kunci : need analysis, e-learning, materi bahasa inggris, R&D This study was a research and development (R&D) was aimed at (1) developing English learning material that are needed by the tenth grade of Nursing Department students at SMK Negeri 1 Kubutambahan; (2) describing the design of English learning material; and finding out (3) the quality of the developed material based on the criteria of good ESP material and good e-learning. This study followed the R&D design by Lee and Owens. This design involves: need analysis, design, and development. This study was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Kubutambahan, the subjects of the study being the tenth grade of Nursing Department students. The data were collected through observation, recording, interview, and expert judgment. The data from the result of observation, interview and recording during the need analysis process were analyzed descriptively; the data from expert judge were analyzed quantitatively. The result of this study shows that: (1) the tenth grade of Nursing Department students need specific English materials that are related to their future job. The existing syllabus and material did not cover their needs; (2) the materials were designed into some unit based on the data gathered from the need analysis. Those units are: General Assessment, Handling Patients, Patient’s Hygiene, Checking Vital Signs, and Dimensions of Symptom; (3) from the result of the expert judgment based on the criteria of good ESP material and good e-learning material, the developed material was categorized into an excellent material.keyword : need analysis, e-learning, English learning material, R&D
