Abstract

This study aims to determine consumptive lifestyle of fishermen communities in District of Panai Hilir, Labuhanbatu Regency, Province of North Sumatra it also determined factors that cause consumptive behaviour and problem solving to analyze the methods to prevent consumtive behaviour. Total population of fishermen communities in Panai Hilir district are 2433 people and sample were determined to 100 persons by using purposive sampling. Data was collected through interviewing, documentation, observation and questionnaires. The conclusion of that study shows that more than 70% of fishermen communities in the district of Panai Hilir had consumptive lifestyle. Their consumptive lifestyles were like impulsive buying and non-rational buying. It occured due of low education level in fishermen communities. Most of the fishermen communities in the district of Panai Hilir are in the productive age, increasing number of average revenue in the district Panai Hilir, and access of information from highly technology communication devices. Consumptive lifestyle like this can be changed by improve the education of fishing communities, giving regulary counseling of financial managemet, avoiding and fortify themselves against the new product from the advertisements in electronic media and print media. Keywords : Fishermen Communities , Lifestyle , Consumtive , Consumtive type

Abstract

Plankton is aquatic organism that flying and it is moves within the water current. Plankton is classified into phytoplankton (classified as plant) and zooplankton (classified as animal). The present of plankton in the water is determined by the physic and chemical condition of the water. Plankton has a limitation to tolerate the environment parameter, it’s diversity is different depend on physical and chemical conditions. The research has been done in Maret to April 2014. Samples were taken from three stations, and performed three times repeated checks in different periods of time by using Purposive Random Samplin. The result of research indicates thats there are 9 class of phytoplankton, they are : Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Conjugatophyceae, Coscinodiscophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Dynophyceae, Eulenophyceae, Ulvophyceae, Zygnenophyceae and 8 class of zooplankton : Branchiopoda, Clitellata, Copepoda, Crustaceae, Gastropoda, Secernenta,Tubulinea, and Turbellaria. The highest total number of plankton is found in station I (206,00 ind/l) and the lowest total number of plankton is found on station 3 (33,33 ind/l). The highest diversity index value (H') for each station is found on station 1 (2,56) and the lowest on station 3 (2,16). The Pearson correlation of analysis indicates the brightness, DO, pH and nitrate have positive correlation to diversity of plankton while temperature, current, BOD5, and phosphate have negative correlation to diversity of plankton. Keywords : Water Quality, Plankton, Diversity, Sunggal River

Abstract

Fisheries output need tobe increased to meet the rising demands for fish incomingyears as the increasing of human population. Biotechnology approach has used forincreasing production on aquaculture sector. One of the advances biotechnologies thatused for aquaculture development is transgens technology. Transgenic fish is a speciesthat experience alteration of genetic structure that introduced from other organisms, with the result that change the their genetic function in accordance with the introducedgene. One of the things that support the development of transgenic fish strain formationis the ability of individual transgenic to bequeath the transgenes to the next generation,so that the genetic trait target genes stable in the resulting offspring. This study aims todetect and determine the expression of growth hormone gene (PhGH) on dumbo catfish(Clarias gariepinus) transgenic F3. Transgene detection performed on embryos andlarvae of catfish transgenic F3 using PCR with primers ACT 107 and PhGH2.Transgene expression was analyzed by using reverse transcriptase polymerase chainreaction (RT-PCR) methods with primers β-actin and ACT 107 and PhGH2. Theresults showed that the transgene was detected in some of the embryos and larvaeaccording to Mendel principle. β-actin primer amplification compared to primary ACT107 and PhGH2 showed that transgene can be expressed in some of the embryos andlarvae. Keywords: biotechnology, aquaculture, transgenic, detection, expression, growthhormone

Abstract

Redfin fish is one of an interesting ornamental fish. Intensive cultivation can bedone by optimizing the stocking density. This reasearch aims to determine the effect ofstocking density of redfin fish, on the growth and determine the optimum stockingdensity with an average length is 5,04 cm and an average weight is 1,01 gram. Redfinare used as much as 162 fishes and maintenance container used are 9 aquariums withsize 40 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm and the volume water are 12 liters each aquarium. Duringthe observed, fish are given an artificial feed as much as 5% of body weight per day.Feeding frequency are 3 times a day. The method used is Completely RandomizedDesign with the treatment of stocking density 1 fish/liter (P1), 1,5 fish/liter (P2), and 2fish/liter (P3). Ended treatment showed length P1 5,59 cm; P2 5,49 cm; P3 5,24 cm andweight P1 1,40 gr; P2 1,28 gr; P3 1,15 gr and feed comsumption 409,05 gr. TreatmentP1 shows the best of daily length and weight growth. Treatment P3 shows the lowest ofdaily length and weight growth. Stocking density significantly affected on the dailylength and weight growth rate. Tukey result has showed that the treatment P2 and P3significantly different from P1.Key word: Epalzeorhynchos frenatum, Redfin, Stocking Density, Growth Rate,
