Abstract

Patin fish is one of cultivication fish which familiar and have high economical price in Indonesia. Intensive cultivication can be done bya optimizing the stocking density. This research aims to determine optimum stocking density with an average length is 10 cm and weight is 5 gr. Patins are use as much as 324 fishes and maintenance container use are 9 aquariums with size 40 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm and the volume water are 12 liters each aquarium. The method use is Completly Randomize Design with the treatment of stocking density 1 fish/liter (P1); 3 fish/liter (P2); 5 fish/liter(P3). Ended treatment showed length P1 12,34 cm; P2 12,01 cm; P3 11,76 cm and weight P1 7,49 gr; ; P2 7,08 gr; P3 6,71 gr. Stocking density significantly affected on the length and weight growth rate. Keywords : Pangasius pangasius, patin, stocking density, growth rate

Abstract

Probiotic are considered as beneficial bacteria. They may live in digestive tract of vertebrate including fish. Probiotic bacteria can inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria and improve water quality as well as control of bacterial diseases that occur in fish culture. They may suppress bacterial population through competition by producing antimicrobial compounds or through nutritional competition in the intestinal wall. Bawal (Colossoma macropomum) is a fish commodity that have high economic value and one of the ornamental fish that can be consumed. This study aimed to determine the potential probiotic bacteria live in the digestive tract of Bawal. The study was conducted to isolate and to identify potential bacterial species of probiotics that had been isolated. The results showed that potential probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract of Bawal were Enterococcus faecalis, Stapylococcus saprophyticus, Micrococcus luteus and Bacillus cereus. Keywords : Probiotic Bacteria, Enterococcus faecalis, Stapylococcus saprophyticus, Micrococcusluteus, Bacillus cereus.

Abstract

The lake Toba is one of potential water resources for human activities such as agricultural industry development, fishery, transportation, irrigation, drinking water, tourism, and the protection of various aquatic biota. This research was conducted in June-July 2017 at Sibolazi Beach Simanindo Village, Samosir regency of North Sumatera, by analyzing the influence of tourism activity on water quality of Lake Toba and knowing the perception of visitor and manager towards Sibolazi Beach tourism. The parameters observed were Temperature, Brightness, Color, Flow Rate, pH, DO, BOD5, N, P and Total coliform. The results according to the Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001 and with the STORET rating system showed that stations 1 and 2 was classified in Class B (Moderately Polluted) with scores of -10 and -2, while station 3 was in Class A (Not Polluted) by fulfilling the quality standard class I. Visibility of visitors to Sibolazi Beach tour of 91% stated Beautiful and comfort level of 71% included in the category of Comfort and the level of visitor satisfaction of travel by 63%. Managers handle waste burning and there is no board for tourist to put the rubbish into the box.Key word : Water Quality, Lake Toba, Sibolazi Beach, Perceptions.

Abstract

Kampung Nipah Sei Nagalawan Village is a marine biota producer area such as aquatic macrofauna and mangroves. Villagers of Sei Nagalawan generally have livelihoods as fishemen. Their lives depend on seafood obtained through both fishing and cultivation. So the need to increase the potential problems against the biota. However, from excessive community activity on mangroves can damage the ecosystem so that there is a physical decline and water quality degradation of the mangrove ecosystem. This study aims to analyze the level of abundance, biomass, diversity and evenness and to analyze the pattern of the spread of aquatic macrofauna around the mangrove. This research was conducted in March – May 2017. This research was conducted by survey method and sampling was done by purposive sampling method. The results showed that the condition of aquatic macrofauna in the mangrove area of Kampung Nipah Sei Nagalawan was rare and the macro-aquatic macrofauna pattern was very minimal due to the large number of mangrove land that was damaged to reduce the habitat for the biota. Keywords : Mangrove, Aussiatic Macrofauna, Nipah Villege, Sei Nagalawan Village, Serdang bedagai

Abstract

The purpose of implementing this community service is to apply a performance-based real work lecture implementation model with an adaptive program in the new normal period at the implementation of the Riau University Real Work Lecture (Kukerta). Implementation will be carried out in 2021 in all Kukerta locations for Riau University students in 2021. The focus of the model applied is the basis of indicators for assessing Kukerta implementation based on community service performance for universities. In addition, the programs that are prepared are also adaptive during the new normal. The results of the application show that there is a potential for increasing service performance outcomes through the implementation of this Kukerta, namely in the indicators (a) service with non-DRPM funding, (b) publication in the mass media, (c) partners with legal entities, and (d) books.

Abstract

This study was aimed to produce recombinant growth hormone (rGH) from giant grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus), giant gouramy (Osphronemus gouramy) and common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and compare their bioactivity potential by means of inducing the growth hormone of juvenile Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) as the model. DNA fragment encoding mature GH protein of giant grouper (El-mGH), giant gouramy (Og-mGH) and common carp (Cc-mGH) was amplified by PCR method. The purified PCR products were ligated to pCold-1 to generate pCold/El-mGH, pCold/OgmGH, and pCold/Cc-mGH protein expression vector, respectively. Each of the expression vectors was transformed into the Escherichia coli BL21. E. coli BL21 was cultured using 2xYT medium and protein production was induced by cold shock at 15±1oC for overnight. The inclusion bodies of E. coli transformants containing protein expression vector were isolated by sonication method, and rGH production was analyzed by SDS-PAGE. Juvenile of Nile tilapia of average body weight of 12.41±3.28 g was intramuscularly injected once a week for 4 weeks with 1 μg inclusion body containing rGH per gram fish body weight. The result showed that rGH in molecular weight of about 25 kDa was obtained. Fish injected with rGH of El-mGH, Cc-mGH and Og-mGH grew 20.94%, 18.09%, and 16.99% faster, respectively, compared with the control. This result indicated that the three rGH produced in E. coli possessed biological activity when tested on Nile tilapia and further research is needed to find its effect on the growth of other aquaculture fish species.

Abstract

Sukamaju Village that is located in the Sail Sub Regency, Pekanbaru is potential for developing fish culture. The knowedge of the community in fish culturing method, however, is relatively low and to improve it, a socialization program has been conducted in July-September 2020. The community was trained to culture fish and fed the fish with turmeric enriched pellets through mentorial and practice in fish feed pellet manufacture and fish rearing. The progress was monitored weekly and evaluated by the 8th week. Results shown that the community was able make fish feed pellets and also able to culture the fish. The result of monitoring and evaluation shown that the fish farmer in Sukamaju Village is commited to develop the turmeric enriched fish fed pellet processing as the effort of program sustanability.
