Abstract

Information literacy is closely related to critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills are related to exploring and evaluating information to make argumentation with relevant and appropriate information. It includes analyzing and synthesizing information to solve a problem where these activities are part of information literacy. Thus, information literacy-based learning should be able to enhance critical thinking skills. This study aims to determine the correlation between critical thinking skills and student’s information literacy enhancement through learning chemistry with the PjBL-IL model on the biogas production context. This study used a pre-experimental method - one group pretest-posttest design involving 32 high school students. Students' critical thinking and information literacy skills were measured using tests. Critical thinking skills and information literacy enhancement on high and medium category with N-gain score are 72.90% and 66.20% respectively and show a low correlation with a correlation coefficient value of 0.144. Where the basic support indicator has a negative correlation (r = -0.105). Thus, critical thinking skills enhancement is not always in line with information literacy.

Abstract

The energy crisis is a serious issue that all countries around the world are dealing with, particularly the energy sources used to generate electricity. There are numerous alternative energy sources available in nature, such as solar energy, wind energy, and so on. Wind and solar energy as hybrid energy sources are thought to be promising in electric generation technology. Hybrid Power Plants can also be used to address the issue of limited electrical energy supply in Indonesia's remote areas. The purpose of this study is to describe the effectiveness of the hybrid power plants implementation in Indonesia. The study was conducted using the narrative literature review method. It can be inferred that the purpose of developing this hybrid technology, among others, is to obtain more efficient electrical energy generation by combining the advantages of two or more types of power generation systems that work in an integrated manner as a compact system. The produced electric energy can be stored in the battery. In terms of use, the produced direct current (DC) is converted into alternating current (AC) using the inverter system prior to distribution to consumers. Therefore, this hybrid power plant is suitable to be implemented in Indonesia.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is one of the main keys for education personnel in facing the challenges of the 21st century which continues to experience global changes. Project learning is carried out to increase scientific literacy and achieve sustainable development. This study aims to describe the scientific literacy profile of vocational students in the application of green chemistry-based electroplating learning projects. The principles of green chemistry raised in the electroplating project are the use of safe chemicals, the use of green solvents, and waste prevention. The research method used was a descriptive analysis. The research subjects were 27 students from the Industrial Mechanics Engineering program in the Department of Technology and Engineering at a Vocational School in the city of Cimahi for the 2022-2023 Academic Year, selected using the convenience sampling technique. Data collection techniques were carried out using 20 scientific literacy test instrument questions with four answer choices that have been validated and tested for reliability. Data analysis was carried out by paired t-test on pretest and posttest values using the Microsoft Excel program. The scientific literacy profile of SMK students in the domain of science knowledge is categorized as low with a percentage of 48%, the scientific competence domain is categorized as moderate with a presentation of 66%, and the attitude domain is categorized as moderate with a percentage of 63%.

Abstract

This study aims to synthesis and characterize PES/PEG/PVA/SiO2 composite membranes. The composite membranes were synthesized by phase inversion method with composition (% w/w) Polyethersulfone/ PES (17.25), Polyvinylalcohol/ PVA (3.58; 0.85; 1.43; 2.57; 3.57, Polyethylene glycol/ PEG (3.72), Silica/SiO2 (0.35; 0.85; 1.43; 2.57; 3.57), and Dimethyl acetamide/DMAc solvent. Composite membranes were characterized using FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and water contact angle. The results showed that the interaction between PES, PVA, and SiO2 was indicated by a shift in the typical absorption spectrum of the FTIR. SEM cross-sectional photos showed that the addition of PVA and SiO2 caused significant changes in the morphology and pore structure of the PES membrane. The results of the X-ray diffractogram (X-Ray) showed a shift in the typical diffraction peaks of PES, PEG, PVA and the presence of new diffraction peaks of SiO2. The crystallinity of the membrane increased from 34.99% to 57.25% which indicated that the composite membrane was successfully synthesized. The addition of PEG/PVA/SiO2 also increased the hydrophilicity of the composite membrane. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the PES/PEG/PVA/SiO2 composite membrane has been synthesized through the phase inversion method with the optimum composition of PES: PEG: PVA: SiO2 was 17.25%: 3.72%: 0.85%: 0.35%, respectively. The addition of PEG/PVA/SiO2 increased the hydrophilicity and modified the morphological structure of the PES membrane.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan memperoleh gambaran model mental siswa pada konsep materi hukum laju reaksi. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan menggunakan instrumen penelitian berupa Tes Diagnostik Model Mental Interview About Event (TDM-IAE) dengan subjek penelitian tujuh siswa kelas XII MIPA di salah satu SMA Swasta di Kota Bandung dengan tiga tingkat kemampuan akademik berbeda, yaitu dua siswa kemampuan tinggi, tiga siswa kemampuan sedang, dan dua siswa kemampuan rendah. Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa siswa kemampuan tinggi, sedang, dan rendah mudah dalam menjelaskan level makroskopik, tetapi sulit dalam menjelaskam level simbolik, submikroskopik, serta sulit mempertautkan ketiga level representasi kimia pada materi hukum laju reaksi. Temuan ini didukung oleh tipe model mental yang ditemukan pada beberapa frasa kunci dalam materi hukum laju reaksi. Pada frasa kunci menentukan hukum laju reaksi berdasarkan fenomena, ditemukan dua tipe model mental, yaitu tipe paham sebagian dengan miskonsepsi spesifik (PU/SM) dan tipe paham sebagian (PU). Pada frasa kunci menentukan orde reaksi terhadap masing-masing reaktan, ditemukan tiga tipe model mental, diantaranya tipe paham sebagian (PU), tipe pemahaman utuh (SU), dan tipe miskonsepsi spesifik (SM). Pada frasa kunci menggambarkan grafik orde reaksi, ditemukan tiga tipe model mental, yaitu tipe paham sebagian dengan miskonsepsi spesifik (PU/SM), tipe pemahaman utuh (SU), dan tipe paham sebagian (PU). Pada frasa kunci menentukan tetapan laju reaksi, ditemukan tiga tipe laju reaksi yaitu tipe pemahaman utuh (SU), tipe paham sebagian (PU), dan tipe paham sebagian dengan miskonsepsi spesifik (PU/SM).

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memperoleh strategi pembelajaran intertekstual dengan POGIL(Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) pada submateri pengaruh konsentrasi dan suhu terhadaplaju reaksi yang berpotensi meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan keterampilan proses sainssiswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Research Development (RD) yangdibatasi hingga tahap pengembangan produk awal. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa formatkesesuaian antara indikator penguasaan konsep dengan kompetensi dasar pengetahuan dandeskripsi konsep, kesesuaian indikator keterampilan proses sains dengan kompetensi dasarketerampilan dan deskripsi keterampilan proses sains serta kesesuaian kegiatan pembelajarandengan indikator penguasaan konsep dan indikator keterampilan proses sains. Dalam prosespengembangan strategi pembelajaran dilakukan validasi oleh empat orang ahli pedagogi kimia,dua orang ahli kimia, dan dua orang praktisi kimia. Berdasarkan hasil validasi, dua butirindikator penguasaan konsep dinyatakan valid, sembilan indikator keterampilan proses sainsdinyatakan valid dengan beberapa saran perbaikan. Strategi pembelajaran yang dikembangkanberupa kegiatan pembelajaran yang menggabungkan tiga level representasi kimia ke dalamlangkah pembelajaran POGIL. Secara umum, hasil validasi menyatakan bahwa strategi tersebutvalid dengan beberapa saran perbaikan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh profil model mental siswa pada submateri hukum laju reaksi dengan menggunakan tes diagnostik model mental pilihan ganda dua tingkat (TDMPGDT). Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif, dengan partisipan penelitian berjumlah 35 siswa kelas XII IPA di SMAN Kota Cimahi yang telah mempelajari submateri hukum laju reaksi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah teknik wawancara dan tes dengan menggunakan TDM-PGDT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan model mental siswa pada submateri hukum laju reaksi didominasi oleh tipe-00. Artinya pemahaman siswa belum utuh, sehingga siswa belum mampu untuk mempertautkan tiga level representasi kimia. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh persentase sebesar 34,29% siswa dengan model mental tipe-00 yang mendominasi pada konsep orde reaksi. Sedangkan siswa yang mendominasi pada bahasan hukum laju reaksi dengan model mental tipe00 memiliki persentase sebesar 38,58%. Adapun, pada konsep tetapan laju reaksi didominasi oleh model mental tipe-00 dengan persentase sebesar 42,86%.

Abstract

Dalam proses pembelajaran di abad ke 21 menekankan proses yang berpusat pada siswa (student center). Berbagai pendekatan yang dilakukan oleh guru agar siswa tidak mengalami tekanan/stres dalam pembelajaran, diantaranya dengan pendekatan emphaty dan mindfulness Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan profil emphaty dan mindfulness dalam pembelajaran kimia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desktiptif dan naratif berdasarkan hasil pengamatan siswa terhadap subjek penelitian sesuai fakta ketika siswa mengikuti pembelajaran kimia di kelas. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa lembar skala sikap menggunakan model Guttman (dua pilihan jawaban ya/tidak) serta uraian terbatas melalui spreadsheet dalam google-form. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hampir seluruh guru kimia sudah menerapkan pendekatan emphaty dan mindfulness di kelas dengan saran perbaikan berupa menjalin hubungan dan komunikasi yang lebih baik serta memberi saran dan solusi terhadap masalah yang dihadapi siswa.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the optimum conditions for the synthesis of CaO nanoparticles using the coprecipitation method, determine the characteristics of the CaO nanoparticles synthesized, and determine the effect of the performance of CaO nanoparticles as an adsorbent for indigo carmine dyes. CaO nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using the coprecipitation method at the optimum conditions of 1 M NaOH concentration and formation temperature of 400+200℃ with the highest % yield reaching 74.56%. The successful formation of CaO nanoparticles was proven by the appearance of a 2-theta diffraction peak of 23.12°; 39.2°; 57.9°; and 67.2° which is identical to the lattice structure of CaO with hkl indices (200), (311), (422) and (600) and a crystal size of up to 4.96 nm. SEM images support the formation of CaO nanoparticles with an average particle size of 98.1 nm and a varying size distribution. The IR spectrum of the formation of CaO nanoparticles with the appearance of Ca-O peaks at wavelengths of 3640, 1400, 860, and 791 cm-1. The adsorption capacity of indigo carmine on CaO nanoparticles was greatest at an adsorbent dose of 10 mg, adsorbate concentration of 100 ppm and a contact time of 50 minutes. The most appropriate adsorption isotherm model and adsorption kinetics model was the Koble-Corrigan model and the pseudo second order model, respectively.

Abstract

This review article aims to systematically describe the synthesis methods, characterization, and performances of CS/PVA based hydrogel composites as drug delivery materials. The literature review was conducted through ScienceDirect and Google Scholar, where the article selection is based on Scopus index in the Q1 and Q2 categories within the past 5 years. The synthesis of CS/PVA hydrogel was performed using various methods, including crosslinking, freeze-thaw, and sol-gel. The synthesis methods of hydrogel composites included crosslinking, freeze-thaw, and sol-gel. Characterization of hydrogel composites was conducted using FTIR spectroscopy, SEM, and swelling ratio measurement. CS/PVA-based hydrogel composites as drug delivery materials have been successfully synthesized using crosslinker, freeze-thaw and sol-gel methods. FTIR spectra indicated that drug was successfully loaded into CS/PVA based hydrogel composite matrix, involving the hydrogen bonding as predominant mechanism of interaction between precursors and drug functionalities. The best swelling capacity was obtained in the CS/PVA/Tetracycline based hydrogel composites, up to 949%. The SEM images indicated the homogeneous morphological structure and surface of hydrogel composites. The CS/PVA/Tetracycline based hydrogel composites exhibited the largest cumulative drug release of 99.44%. The drugs loaded CS/PVA hydrogel composites are promising as a drug delivery material.
