Abstract

Kemampuan berbicara merupakan salah satu dari empat keterampilan berbahasa. Berbicara merupakan keterampilan produktif dalam artian pembicara menghasilkan bunyi bahasa dan komunikasi dalam dua arah. Pembicara dan pendengar dapat menegosiasikan arti dari apa yang mereka katakan. Era industri 4.0, kemampuan berbicara dan mengemukakan sebuah masalah di depan umum sangat penting karena informasi yang didapatkan tidak lagi terbatas. Oleh karena itu, untuk menghindari kesalahpahaman terhadap isi informasi, diperlukan kemampuan berbicara di depan umum. Kemampuan tersebut membantu seseorang untuk mencari dan memahami informasi dengan benar. Selain itu, kemampuan berbicara di depan umum juga mengajarkan cara meyakinkan orang lain untuk mendapatkan informasi yang benar dan berguna untuk yang membutuhkan. Tulisan ini membahas tentang keterampilan berbicara mahasiswa di depan masyarakat Desa Burai mengenai pengelolaan sampah di daerah rawa. Para mahasiswa didorong untuk melatih kemampuan berbicara mereka dengan topik permasalahan mengenai pembuangan sampah masyarakat di daerah rawa melalui teknik wawancara. Metode kegiatan dimulai dari kegiatan pendampingan oleh dosen pendamping dimulai dengan pendahuluan, pemberian materi, dan evaluasi kegiatan. Hasil yang didapatkan bahwa mahasiswa dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara di depan umum dengan rasa percaya diri dan termotivasi, tanpa harus takut mengemukakan pendapat atau butir pertanyaan yang dapat menyinggung masyarakat. Kata kunci: Desa Burai, kemampuan berbicara, rawa, wawancara

Abstract

Scientific literacy is a person's ability to think and behave scientifically, apply scientific knowledge, and make decisions in solving problems in everyday life. Biology students are expected to be able to develop scientific literacy. One of them is in the material of plant metabolism. Understanding the concept of plant metabolism will help students in implementing the concept of biological science in everyday life. This is because biology is a branch of natural science that has the potential and makes a major contribution to solving global problems, such as food, health, social, energy, economic, environmental, and technology. This study aims to see the level of science literacy of biology students on plant metabolism material, which is one of the basic materials for modern biology learning and research in the 21st century. This type of research is descriptive quantitative with a survey method, with respondents of undergraduate students of the Ahmad Dahlan University Biology Education Study Program. The test instruments used were the Scientific Inquiry Literacy Test (SILT) and the Multidimensional Scientific Literacy Test (MSLT). Science Literacy (SL) questions have seven indicators. The question material used in the test instrument is knowledge of photosynthesis, cellular respiration, phytochemical biosynthesis pathways, and implementation of plant metabolism concepts in the fields of health and pharmacology. The findings result showed a significant increase in the seven levels of scientific literacy indicators, where the average post-test score was always higher than the pre-test. Most students were included in the conceptual group. The conclusion of the study was that the fairly high scientific literacy scores at the seven levels indicate that students have understood and internalized the concepts and contents of plant metabolism materials, are able to read, interpret, and analyze data, and know the role and application of plant metabolism processes in the development of the world of health and pharmacology, so it can be said that during the learning process there has been an increase in the science literacy of biology students.

Abstract

Bukit Siguntang Forest, an urban forest on a hill filled by trees that are believed to be a tomb complex of Malay kings. As an ecosystem, Bukit Siguntang Forest also consists of various understorey. Because of the tourist location, the understorey of Bukit Siguntang Forest tends to be easier to encounter cleaning which is considered as weed and disturbs beauty. The study purpose was to explore the aesthetic potential of the understorey vegetation of Bukit Siguntang Forest. The study method used vegetation analysis with the plot measuring 2m x 2m, which was followed by species identification. The results showed that the understorey identified as dominating species with aesthetic potential were Asystasia gangetica, Bidens pilosa, Borreria laevis, Drymaria cordata, and Mimosa pudica. The understorey which is included in herbs and shrubs had beautiful flowers, unique leaf shapes, and attractive colors. These plants provide the beauty of their parts so that they can be applied to form a flower bed, green coverage and refreshing scenery. However, the growth of understorey also needs to be controlled. That is because understorey can grow rapidly, so that will be growing too densely and messy planting mode.Keywords: aesthetic function, Bukit Siguntang, tourism, understorey vegetation.

Abstract

Abstract:  This community service activity aimed to improve the competence of teachers at SMAN 9 OKU in utilizing Augmented Reality (AR) technology as an innovative learning medium. The partner institution faced challenges related to the limited knowledge and skills of teachers in integrating digital technology, particularly AR, into classroom learning. Therefore, a socialization and training program on the use of AR in learning was conducted for teachers. The activity was implemented through several stages, including the presentation of materials on the basic concepts of Augmented Reality, demonstrations of AR applications in learning, and hands-on practice sessions involving participants. The evaluation of the activity was carried out using pretest and posttest questionnaires administered to seven participating teachers to identify changes in their level of understanding after the training. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ understanding across all measured indicators. The initial pretest scores ranged from approximately 14 to 57, while the posttest results showed significant improvement, with most indicators reaching a score of 100. These findings indicate that the socialization and training on the use of AR were effective in enhancing teachers’ knowledge and skills in utilizing AR technology to support more interactive and visual learning processes.Abstrak: Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru SMA Negeri 9 OKU dalam memanfaatkan teknologi Augmented Reality (AR) sebagai media pembelajaran yang inovatif. Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra adalah masih terbatasnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi digital, khususnya AR, ke dalam proses pembelajaran di kelas. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan kegiatan sosialisasi dan pelatihan penggunaan AR bagi para guru. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui beberapa tahapan, yaitu penyampaian materi mengenai konsep dasar Augmented Reality, demonstrasi penggunaan aplikasi AR dalam pembelajaran, serta praktik langsung oleh peserta. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui pemberian angket pretest dan posttest kepada tujuh guru peserta kegiatan untuk mengetahui perubahan tingkat pemahaman setelah mengikuti pelatihan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta pada seluruh indikator yang diukur. Nilai awal peserta berada pada rentang sekitar 14 hingga 57 pada hasil pretest, sedangkan hasil posttest menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dengan sebagian besar indikator mencapai nilai 100. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan sosialisasi dan pelatihan penggunaan AR mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam memanfaatkan teknologi AR sebagai media pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif dan visual.

Abstract

Kreativitas adalah keterampilan yang penting di era disruptif yang penuh tantangan perubahan iklim dan lingkungan. Perubahan lingkungan dan iklim tentunya karena dipengaruhi oleh aktivitas manusia dari berbagai sektor kehidupan sehingga menuntut manusia untuk turut mengambil langkah dalam memelihara keberlanjutan hidup demi generasi mendatang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat profil kreativitas mahasiswa dalam merancang modul ajar berbasis sustainability education. Metode penelitian yang digunakan berupa penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan subjek yaitu mahasiswa prodi pendidikan Biologi FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang yang sedang menempuh mata kuliah Perencanaan Pembelajaran Biologi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen penilaian kreativitas modul ajar berbasis sustainability education yang dikembangkan oleh Wijayanti, et al (2024), dengan teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik frekuensi dan persentase. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah kreativitas mahasiswa berkategori kurang baik sebesar 39,80%; cukup baik sebesar 40,82%; dan baik sebesar 18,37%. Hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa kreativitas mahasiswa masih rendah dalam merancang modul ajar berbasis sustainability education.

Abstract

Background: Metacognitive skills are important in biology learning because they help students plan, monitor, and evaluate their own thinking processes. However, these skills are often not optimally developed in conventional classrooms. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental, nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design to examine the effect of the QASEE learning model on students’ metacognitive skills in learning about the nervous system. The participants were Grade XI students at SMA Aisyiyah 1 Palembang, comprising 20 students in the experimental class and 16 in the control class. Data were collected using essay tests integrated with a metacognitive assessment rubric and analyzed using paired and independent t-tests. Results: Both classes improved, but the experimental class taught using the QASEE model achieved higher posttest metacognitive scores than the control class. The paired t-test showed significant improvement in both groups (p < 0.05), and the independent t-test showed a significant difference between the posttest scores of the experimental and control classes (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The QASEE learning model outperformed conventional learning in supporting students’ metacognitive skills for learning about the nervous system. This model has the potential to serve as an alternative biology learning strategy that encourages more active and reflective thinking.
