Abstract

Armyworm (Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) often lead to decreased productivity and even crop failures by causing leaves, fruits, and vegetables to become torn, cut, and punctured. Crop insecticides are an alternative to eradicating armyworm (Spodoptera litura (Fabricius). One plant that can be used as a vegetable insecticide is bintaro (Cerbera odollam Gaertn.) The bintaro plant (Cerbera odollam Gaertn.) has cerberin content that contribute to insect mortality. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of extract (Cerbera odollam Gaertn.) on mortality of armywork (Spodoptera litura (Fabricius). This study was a type of experiment using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and one control. The results showed that the effectiveness of seeds bintaro extract (Cerbera odollam Gaertn.) could cause death to armyworm (Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) on 1.5% concentration of 55% showed effective on the armyworm. Increasing the dose is to be followed by increasing the effectiveness of mortality. The LC50 value is 1.51%. Increasingly concentration of seeds bintaro extract (Cerbera odollam Gaertn.) cause higher mortality of armyworm (Spodoptera litura (Fabricius). Keywords: Spodoptera litura (Fabricius), Cerbera odollam Gaertn. Seeds Extract, Mortality

Abstract

Each student in the class has different abilities, readiness, and interests in learning. As the provider of materials and as a facilitator, the teacher must be able to adapt to curriculum changes, including enhancing students' creative thinking skills through differentiated and integrated STEM learning in the subject of ecology for grade 7 in junior high school. This research aims to analyze the readiness of science teachers to implement differentiated and integrated STEM learning in the “merdeka” curriculum of junior high school. The analytical method used is quantitative descriptive, employing a semi-open questionnaire consisting of 16 questions. The research subjects are 15 science teachers of grade 7 in junior high schools in Besuki. The questionnaire analysis results show that 66.7% of the teachers have implemented differentiated learning under the principles of the merdeka curriculum. However, they face several constraints, such as time, learning resources, facilities, infrastructure, and lack of training and experience teaching differentiated learning. 33.3% of science teachers who have integrated STEM into the ecology subject also encounter constraints such as time, availability of electricity, availability of materials, internet connection, and lack of training. 0% of science teachers have not yet used differentiated STEM-integrated ecology modules. Thus, 100% of the teachers agree with the development of differentiated STEM-integrated ecology modules, as teachers need learning media that can assist in implementing differentiated STEM-integrated learning.

Abstract

The education system in Indonesia has undergone changes due to several factors such as 21st century education trends and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes have resulted in a shift in student learning behavior towards different learning styles. With the end of the pandemic, students have returned to face-to-face learning, leading to the loss of certain learning behaviors adopted during the pandemic period. This, may result in a decrease in students' thinking ability. The purpose of this study is to develop hypermedia-based e-modules to improve students' creative thinking skills. The method used in this research is the Research and Development (R&D) method. This method follows the ADDIE model which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The development in this research includes hypermedia-based e-modules, learning instruments, creative thinking tests. The validity of the hypermedia-based e-module was assessed using the results of media validation. Effectiveness was measured by analyzing student and teacher responses. Effectiveness was determined through pre-test and post-test methods for creative thinking tests. The validation results showed "very valid" criteria with an average score of 95. Practicality, based on student and teacher responses in each session, obtained an average score of 90 with "very practical" criteria. Effectiveness, measured through a pre-test and the mean scores of the pre-test and post-test scores, showed values of 0.61, 0.55, and 0.56 for the small, large, and dispersed classes, with "medium" criteria. Creative thinking scores ranged from 80-90, indicating "very high" criteria. From these two results, it can be concluded that the hypermedia-based e-module on human digestive system material is valid, practical, and effective to improve the creativity of junior high school students.

Abstract

Feed is one of the main points that determine crayfish successful cultivation. The feed commonly use fish flour tends to be expensive; therefore, it becomes an obstacle for crayfish cultivators. This study aimed to determine the effect of pellet feed made from maggot flour, mealworm flour, and golden snail flour on crayfish growth as an alternative feed that are more affordable. This research was conducted using laboratory experiment design consisted of three treatments and three replications of each. The research design used fish flour-based pellet for control (P0), maggot flour, mealworm flour, and golden snail flour-based pellet for treatment 1 (P1), maggot flour, mealworm flour, golden snail flour, and fish flour-based pellet for treatment 2 (P2). The experiment conducted during one month, using 90 individuals’ crayfish. The effect of treatments on the growth measured by three main parameters such as: dry and wet biomass, carapace length, and supported by feed analysis using feed conversion ratio (FCR) and feed utilization efficiency (FUE). The results showed that P1 has significant effect on the dry biomass growth (p=0.001), wet biomass growth (p=0.000), carapace length growth (p=0.049). Feed analysis showed that P1 has significant effect on FCR (p=0.004) and FUE (p=0.010).

Abstract

Education has undergone significant changes in modern times. Students are experiencing a decline in their thinking skills, particularly in the areas of creativity and critical thinking. This is due to the monotonous nature of their learning, which has resulted in less developed thinking patterns. The EDP model aims to improve creative problem-solving skills, equip students with the ability to overcome difficulties through careful planning, and encourage learning through failure. This study describes the B-ProDe TEct (Brainstorming, Problem Solving, Design Prototype, Try, Evaluate of Conflicts) learning model, which integrates Brain-Based Learning (BBL) principles into Engineering Design Process (EDP). The model has been demonstrated to enhance creative thinking skills and improve science learning outcomes in junior high school students. The study utilizes a mixed methods research approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative methods. This approach enables a more comprehensive analysis of the research question. The practicality scores from each school, derived from the feasibility test, were 87.08%, 83.25%, and 86.67% respectively, resulting in an overall average of 85.67%. The study evaluated the effectiveness of the B-Pro DeTEct learning model on a group of 30 students. The N-gain was 0.37 at the third session and 0.55 at the fourth session, with an average N-gain of 0.46. These results suggest a moderate increase in cognitive learning outcomes before and after using the model. The study concludes that the model is valid, practical, and successful in enhancing creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to develop e-LKPD based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) using Canva on the respiratory system material of fifth grade elementary school students. The background of this study is based on the low critical thinking skills and learning outcomes of students due to the dominance of lecture methods and limited interactive digital learning media. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The validation results show that e-LKPD is declared very valid by material experts (95%), media experts (89%), and practitioners (100%). The practicality test shows the implementation of learning above 87% and very good student responses above 95%. The effectiveness of the product is evidenced by a significant increase in learning outcomes, with an N-Gain value between 0.71 and 0.73 (high category). In addition, indicators of students' critical thinking skills have increased in all aspects after the implementation of e-LKPD. Thus, the PBL-based e-LKPD using Canva that was developed is declared valid, practical, and effective in improving critical thinking skills and learning outcomes of elementary school students.
