Abstract

Fourfinger threadfin Eleutheronema tetradactylum has a local name, namely laosan fish by the coastal community of Lekok Pasuruan District, a type of demersal fish that can swim in brackish waters. This research aimed to determine the biological aspects, namely the relationship of Length to Weight, sex ratio, and to determine the feasibility of catching based on the measurement results of the length of the first caught (Lc) and the length of the gonads first ripened (Lm). This research was conducted based on catches during Januari - March 2020 for total samples of as much as 450 fish, based on the catch of gill nets. The result informed that the length and weight relationship was negative allometric. The sex ratio between male and female was 1.00: 0.00. During the study, no female gonads were found because the fourfinger threadfin had spawned protandrous hermaphrodites. The value of length at first maturity (Lm) and length at first capture (Lc) was 20.99 ± 0.13 cm and 24.66 ± 0.046 cm. Lc > Lm's value proves that the fish caught is dominant gonad ripe fish so that the fish is suitable for catching and the fishing gear used selectively.

Abstract

Shark and ray fishery issues raised in Indonesia as some species have been listed in the IUCN red list. In relation to the conservation of some shark and ray species, critical information is required related to several biological aspects to assure its fishery sustainability. This study was conducted in Brondong Fishing Port in February – March 2020. Length, weight, and maturity level data were collected from 272 shark individuals and 267 ray individuals. Several analyses were performed, such as length-weight relationship analysis, sex ratios, and maturity level analysis. The study found 18 species listed in the IUCN red list were dominantly composed of Carcharias taurus and Dasyatis kuhlii. Both species have negative allometric, while the sex ratios showed that the ratio of the number of male and female individuals for shark and ray are 1:5 and 1:2, respectively. The maturity level of male individuals for Carcharias taurus pointed that 33% full calcification (FC), 17% non-full calcification (NFC), and 50% non-calcification (NC), while for Dasyatis kuhlii resulted that 66% FC, 28% NFC, and 6% NC. It is concluded that the biological aspects of the dominant species indicated that most individuals were in a critical state, thus it is required to monitor and control their fishing pressures.

Abstract

Fisheries data statistics play an important role in fisheries management. The data collection might be provided in landing sites. However, not all landing sites can provide the fisheries data. Kandangsemangkon small landing site is an unreported landing site that land various economically important species, one of species is Trevally fishery. The purposes of this study were to identify the species landed, determine the categorization of species supporting the landed trevally fishery and determine the trevally fishing area and the volume of trevally production that was not recorded or reported at Kandangsemangkon Small Landing Site. The data collection method of this study is by descriptive survey method, which are by taking primary and secondary data. The primary data collection was carried out by interviewing fishermen regarding the species of catch landed and the trevally fishing area, and observing the research location. The secondary data used was the production data of trevally landed at Brondong Archipelago Fishing Port. The results of this study are there were types of target species, secondary species, primary species and there is not endangered, threatened and protected species were found. The trevally fishing grounds are generally in WPPNRI 712 and 713. The volume of unrecorded and unreported production was 46.70%, and did not contribute to the fisheries statistics of Lamongan, East Java.
