Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital communication model to enhance public trust in election monitoring in Magelang Regency, classified as a high-risk area in the 2024 elections. Using a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving observation, interviews, and documentation, the research focuses on creating a communication model that effectively increases public trust. The findings reveal that digital communication implemented by Bawaslu through social media is more effective in engaging the public, but synchronization with the website requires improvement to ensure better information transparency. Website management is centrally integrated to facilitate maintenance and address server issues, with hosting responsibilities handled at the national level, while local branches are limited to content management without access to modify the website. This study recommends a digital communication model that provides practical guidelines for creating digital content to strengthen public trust in election monitoring institutions.

Abstract

Public speaking is an essential skill that should be mastered by all individuals, including middle school students, as it is valuable not only in academic settings but also in social and professional contexts. This community service initiative aims to enhance public speaking skills and boost the confidence of middle school students through a combination of presentation and role-playing methods. The training consisted of a series of sessions where students were given opportunities to prepare and deliver structured presentations, as well as practice speaking in simulated, real-life scenarios. The results of the program showed significant improvement in both the verbal and non-verbal communication skills of the students. Those who initially lacked confidence became more capable of organizing effective presentations, utilizing appropriate body language, and responding to their audience effectively. Additionally, the training helped students overcome anxiety associated with public speaking, increasing their courage to speak in front of others. While some students may still require a more personalized approach, the overall methods proved to be effective in developing public speaking skills. This training is expected to provide long-term benefits in students' soft skill development and could serve as a sustainable program within schools.

Abstract

The Bigaran Cocoa Edupark business combines aspects of education and tourism with a focus on the chocolate industry. However, the Bigaran Cacao Edupark tour which was just pioneered in 2022 does not yet have a visual identity and is not widely known by the wider community. This community service activity aims to improve partners' skills related to the program related to digital branding of tourism and designing the visual identity of Bigaran Cocoa Edupark. This program is carried out with a participatory method which is focused on 1) training on tourism digital branding, and 2) designing the visual identity of Bigaran Cocoa Edupark. The implementation of activities is starting with observation, socialization, visual identity design, digital branding training and assistance, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The result of this program is the establishment of Instagram and Tiktok social media accounts accompanied by a time schedule content for 1 year as a promotional media. In addition, 1 set of graphic standard manual visual identity of Bigaran Cocoa Edupark consisting of logo, packaging and business card was also created along with the grant of chocolate molding goods.

Abstract

Domestik violence remains a critical yet often hidden social issue with profound psychological impacts on victims. This study analyzes the 2021 Indonesian film Paranoia directed by Riri Riza to explore representations of domestic violence and its psychological consequences. Employing a descriptive qualitative method and Roland Barthes’ Semiotic Theory, the research examines denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings in selected scenes. The findings reveal symptoms such as emotional instability, anxiety, and recurring trauma, often triggered by interactions related to the perpetrator. Physical signs, such as cigarette burns, serve as symbolic representations of deeper psychological scars. The film also portrays the effects of trauma on family dynamics, particularly through overprotective behaviors. Ultimately, Paranoia demonstrates the power of film in raising awareness and encouraging social reflection on domestic violence.

Abstract

Potensi pengguna internet terutama media sosial di Indonesia sangat besar. Dengan banyaknya pengguna tersebut mengakibatkan besarnya potensi kegaduhan nasional. Apalagi, munculnya berbagai elemen masyarakat yang intoleran dan penyebar hoaks semakin menambah kegaduhan nasional di sosial media, serta mengancam kebhinekaan. Keadaan tersebut mendorong pemerintah untuk melakukan langkah-langkah dalam menghadapi perpecahan negara. Seperti tindakan pada momentum tertentu pemerintah melakukan upaya pembatasan internet dengan tujuan menjaga stabilitas negara. Tindakan tersebut tentu mendapat respon beragam baik positif maupun negatif. Berdasarkan berbagai hal tersebut penelitian ini ingin melihat, bagaimana peran new media sebagai ruang publik dalam merespon ancaman kebihnekaan. Teori yang digunakan adalah Ruang Publik dari Jurgen Habermas, dimana internet harusnya bisa menjadi ruang komunikasi guna menciptakan rasionalitas publik dalam mewujudkan Demokrasi Deliberatif. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan mix methode studi pustaka dan deskriptif kuantitatif, dengan responden berjumlah 25 orang yang dipilih secara purposif untuk disebar di wilayah Magelang sebagai sebuah studi pendahuluan. Analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis SWOT, untuk melihat kekuatan, kelemahan, peluang dan tantangan/ancaman dari new media. Hasil kajian menunjukkan kekuatan berupa jumlah dan lama pengguna internet dapat dimaksimalkan. Kelemahan berupa kualitas dan karakteristik pengguna. Potensi adanya sarana prasarana, jangkauan, kedekatan. Ancaman yang dapat dilihat ada dua yakni manifest berupa hoaks dan hasutan, serta laten berupa tidak terakomodasinya kebutuhan masyarakat.

Abstract

Masalah stunting pada anak masih menjadi perhatian serius di Indonesia, khususnya di wilayah pedesaan seperti Temanggung. Melihat urgensi tersebut, mahasiswa Program Studi Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang berkolaborasi dengan pengurus Posyandu Mawar Temanggung melaksanakan sosialisasi mengenai pencegahan stunting. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat, terutama para ibu, mengenai pentingnya pemenuhan gizi anak sejak dini. Metode kegiatan meliputi penyuluhan interaktif dan simulasi pemberian makanan sehat bagi balita. Kegiatan diikuti oleh 30 peserta dari warga sekitar Posyandu. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta mengenai stunting dan pentingnya pencegahan dini. Kegiatan ini memberikan manfaat berupa peningkatan literasi kesehatan masyarakat serta memperkuat kolaborasi antara mahasiswa dan lembaga masyarakat. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan pentingnya pendekatan komunikasi dalam penyuluhan kesehatan masyarakat.

Abstract

Waste management remains a complex environmental issue in Indonesia that requires an interdisciplinary approach. This study aims to design and develop the Clean Earth application as a digital solution for community-based waste management by integrating the User-Centered Design (UCD) approach with Participatory Development Communication principles. A qualitative-descriptive method was employed through field observations, user interviews, interface prototyping, and limited user testing. The Clean Earth app consists of three core features: GoPah (scheduled waste collection), Barter (digital waste-bank system), and Education (interactive learning media on waste utilization). The System Usability Scale (SUS) evaluation involving 25 respondents yielded an average score of 84.6, categorized as Excellent Usability. Moreover, the Education feature effectively enhanced public awareness and understanding of sustainable waste practices. The findings demonstrate that integrating information technology with development communication can create a digital medium that is both functional and participatory, fostering behavioral change toward environmental responsibility. This study contributes to the formulation of an adaptive and inclusive Smart Circular Waste Management model applicable to various local community contexts in Indonesia.

Abstract

Donorejo is a village located in Secang sub-district, Magelang district. During the observation and interview process with the village, there were 12 children with stunting problems. One of the stunting factors in Donorejo Village is the lack of parental knowledge about nutrition. Therefore, the PPMT activity program implemented includes a nutrition improvement program for stunting children. In addition, the training program on how to make additional food for stunted children The mentoring program is also carried out in providing play therapy for stunted children. Partners in running this program include the village government, youth organization, PKK, cadres, and the local community. The purpose of this activity is to increase knowledge and competence to Donorejo Village community groups related to stunting. With this PPMT program, it is expected to be a preventive effort to prevent and reduce stunting problems in Donorejo village.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada mahasiswa yang terjebak dalam gaya hedon di media sosial. Permasalahan utama mengenai gaya hidup yang hedon dipamerkan di media sosial yang tidak sesuai dengan kehidupan nyata. Kata “Gaya Elit Ekonomi Sulit” sering terucap oleh netizen yang mengetahui kehidupan nyata. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara dan pengamatan (observasi) pada objek yang dituju.Peneliti menyerahkan sepenuhnya narasumber untuk memaparkan jawaban yang diberikan terkait pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang diajukan sebagai bahan data penelitian.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gaya hedon mahasiswa diunggah di media sosial namun tak sesuai dengan kehidupan nyata.Kebayakan mahasiswa saat ini lebih mengutamakan penampilan agar terlihat mewah dan menggunakan brand-brand ternama sebagai ajang pamer dan menjadi pusat perhatian.Maka dari itu penelitian ini dilakukan guna untuk mencari informasi secara tepat dan akurat.Nama anonim yang digunakan di media sosial membuat seseorang yang tidak mengetahui kehidupan aslinya dan orang lain mudah terbohongi atas ke tidak benaran kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

Viral marketing has become a popular phenomenon in efforts to disseminate information and marketing of a product or service. Information and content is disseminated on digital media in social networks. This study used a quantitative method by distributing questionnaires with the Google Form platform which was shown to student respondents in Communication Studies, University of Muhammadiyah Magelang. Respondents were active students in semesters 2, 4, 6, and 8 of the Communication Studies study program and there were 92 respondents. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using statistical techniques, including validity tests, reliability tests, normality tests, and regression analysis tests to see the magnitude of the influence between the variables. The purpose of this research is to find out the effect of live streaming on the tiktok shop on purchasing decisions for Erigo products, to analyze the effect of live streaming on tiktok shops to viral marketing, to analyze the influence of viral marketing on purchasing decisions for Erigo products. The results of this study can provide valuable insights for marketing practitioners in designing more effective viral marketing strategies. The results of this study indicate that viral marketing on live streaming of the Tiktok brand Erigo has a positive and significant influence on purchasing decisions for the Erigo brand.
