Abstract

 In this paper, a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller for solar power system is modeled using MATLAB Simulink. The model consists of PV module, buck converter, and MPPT controller. The contribution of the work is in the modeling of buck converter using equation model approach rather than circuit model one.  The buck converter model is developed using equation model that allowing the input voltage of the converter, i.e. output voltage of PV is changed by varying the duty cycle, so that the maximum power point could be tracked when the environmental changes. From the experiment, the developed model comforms with the circuit model provided by MATLAB Simulink Power Simulation. Furher, the simulation results show that the developed model performs well in tracking the maximum power point (MPP) of the PV module using Perturb and Observe (P&O) Algorithm.

Abstract

This paper presents a non-linear optimization algorithm for alleviation of under-voltage and over-voltage conditions in the day-to-day operation of power networks. Voltage control for varying load and generation conditions can be achieved by coordinated control of switchable shunt VAR compensating (SVC) devices, on load transformer taps (OLTC) and generators excitation. The proposed algorithm for voltage control uses a non-linear least square minimization technique. Results obtained for 6-Bus Ward-Hale system and a modified IEEE 30-Bus system are presented for illustration purposes.

Abstract

This paper presents the implementation of Web-SCADA on the hybrid wind-PV power system. Both the electrical paramaters such as current, voltage, power and the environment parameters such as wind speed, solar irradiation, and PV temperature are monitored remotely via Internet using a web browser. The SCADA system allows the user to control the hybrid power system remotely. The low cost sensor systems, RTUs and PLC are developed for implementing the SCADA system. The IntegraXor SCADA is employed as the Web-SCADA software. It provides the easy way for developing the Web-based SCADA application. The experimental results show that the Web-SCADA works properly in the monitoring and controlling the hybrid power system. The developed sensor systems provides the average error of 2.87%. The developed RTUs are able to acquire the sensor data and communicate with the SCADA server in real-time.
