Abstract

The escalating demand and excessive consumption of water resources have led to pollution and elevated water pressure, adversely impacting public health and environmental sustainability. Cibuluh Village possesses significant potential regarding water sources due to its proximity to seven rivers, ensuring a relatively high-water availability. However, this potential has not been fully realized due to the inadequate water resource treatment and management infrastructure. The absence of appropriate technology for water management has resulted in persistent challenges for the residents of Cibuluh Subang Village in accessing clean water. Consequently, the service has been implemented in four distinct stages: analysis of community needs, design and manufacturing of systems, implementation of programs and tool manufacturing, and testing of tools followed by field implementation. The test results revealed that the water filtration system exhibited a TDS reading of 91, indicating a high particle content. Despite these challenges, the service has led to the design and implementation of water purification systems, increased community engagement in addressing water quality issues, and the development of instructional documents on clean water usage

Abstract

Abstract The community service program in Cibuluh Village, Tanjung Siang Subdistrict, Subang Regency aimed to improve clean water quality through the optimization of a water treatment system based on aeration and activated carbon filtration. The main issues included high iron (Fe) content, turbidity, and water color unsuitable for consumption. Implementation methods comprised participatory discussions with the community, surveys of water distribution networks, repair and installation of storage tanks, pump installation, and the application of aeration and carbon filtration. Results showed that Fe levels decreased from 0.45 mg/L to 0.13 mg/L, turbidity reached 0 NTU, and water color decreased from 100 PtCo to 45 PtCo. These outcomes demonstrate the effectiveness of combining aeration and carbon filtration in improving the physical and chemical quality of water. Furthermore, community participation in installation and maintenance activities enhanced their knowledge and self-reliance in managing water resources. This program demonstrates that simple water treatment technology based on aeration and carbon filtration is an effective, economical, and sustainable solution for water treatment in rural areas with high Fe content. Keywords: water treatment; water quality; carbon filtration; aeration.

Abstract

The advancement of steer-by-wire (SbW) technology in the modern automotive industry demands efficient and safe testing methods for complex control systems. Conventional validation on physical prototypes is often prohibitively expensive and highrisk, particularly in the initial development phases where control algorithms are still immature. To mitigate these challenges, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation provides a crucial intermediate step, enabling rapid, cost-effective, and safe iterative testing of control algorithms in a controlled environment. This research presents the design, implementation, and validation of a haptic feedback control system for an SbW application using a low-cost HIL platform. The developed architecture integrates a physical steering wheel plant with a real-time virtual model of the front wheels, controlled via an NI MyRIO and LabVIEW. The control system performance was analyzed by comparing proportional (P) and proportional-derivative (PD) controllers. The proportional controller was tuned using an empirical approach, while the proportional-derivative controller was designed analytically using the pole-zero cancellation method. The results demonstrated a clear trade-off with the proportional controller, which produced physical oscillations on the hardware. In contrast, the proportional-derivative controller successfully eliminated overshoot and damped all oscillations, which was physically validated as a stable and responsive haptic feedback. This research successfully demonstrates that the HIL platform can effectively validate and differentiate the physical performance of control architectures, confirming the superiority of the proportional-derivative controller for achieving a stable, high-fidelity haptic feedback system for SbW applications.

Abstract

There are main issues in optimizing the energy conversion of solar panels, including (1) the movement of the sun's position and (ii) the best capability of solar panels to capture sunlight, which must be perpendicular to the sun's rays. The objective of this research is to conduct a study into the design and development of a solar panel tracking system, specifically to obtain the effectiveness value of the tracking system. The VDI 2206 method is used in the design, which integrates three main systems: mechanical, electronic, and information technology. Based on the test results, the performance of the solar panel tracker increased by 48.38%. With a tracking system power requirement of 5.51%, the percentage increase in the net energy gain of the tracker solar panel is 40.2% compared to static solar panels. Therefore, solar panel systems equipped with tracking devices are more effective and efficient compared to static solar panels.
