Abstract

Abstract Khilafah is a state system in Islam that is intended to realize human goals in his life, namely to manifest God's will on earth. This divine will can only be realized if the state system is based on tauhid. Al-Faruqi is a modern Muslim thinker who is deeply concerned with integrating tauhid into various aspects of life, including the state system known as the khilafah in Islam. The objective of this study is to expound al-Faruqi's thoughts on the integration of tauhid teachings and the khilafah concept. This work is a library research with data sources in the form of books, articles, and various other publishing materials, both printed and non-printed. The data was gathered using documentary techniques, and it was analyzed using descriptive-analytical methods. This research finds that according to al-Faruqi, the khilafah is an Islamic state political system that is integrated with a belief system in the form of tauhid. According to al-Faruqi, the integration of tauhid with the khilafah was accomplished comprehensively and completely through three consensuses: consensus of vision (ijma’ al-ru’ya), consensus of will (ijma’ al-iradah), and consensus of action (ijma’ al-‘amal).

Abstract

This researcher aims to analyze Ibn Rushd's thoughts about the Ideal State. This research uses the literature study method by collecting data from various reports in the form of books, articles, official records, and others. The collected data are analyzed with the aim of creating a systematic, factual, and accurate picture of the object under study.  With this method, the researcher found several important points in the ideal state according to Ibn Rusyd; First, the Ideal State is not seen in terms of its physique or its buildings, but from the strength of its human soul. If the human soul is good then, the state will be good. And if the human soul is corrupted then, the state will be damaged. Secondly, Man is a social being, who needs help from others to help him and meet his needs. With this, Man will not be able to live alone. In addition, Man is the Being of Allah Swt who was created to recognize Him by submitting to the laws of Allah Swt in living life on Earth, whether man's relationship with God or man's relationship with a man. Third, leadership characteristics are good character, love of science, education, honesty, physical strength, and being a philosopher, because the leader has an important role, namely as a regulator of world affairs and maintaining religion.

Abstract

This research focuses on religious issues used as messages in political communication. A campaign is a form of political communication by one of the candidates for local leader dan vice local leader of Gresik regency Sambari Qosim (SQ) in the 2015 regional election. This study employed a qualitative approach; therefore, the researcher used observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation to collect data. The study found that the SQ candidate pair used religious issues as a message in their political campaign because the local vice leader of Gersik Regency, Mohammad Qosim, was the son of a Kyai. Thus, such a strategy made it easier for him to gain sympathy from the voters, who would ultimately determine his choice of the pair. This strategy was implemented due to the socio-cultural community of Gresik Regency, a religious society that considers religion to be sacred, including the figure of a Kyai. As a religious figure, the Kyai must be obeyed and become an example in attitude and behaviour. This condition prompted the SQ candidate to take advantage of religious issues to gain as many votes as possible to win the 2015 regional elections.

Abstract

The social contract is a critical concept in the democratic system brought by the West. This concept agrees with the existence of agreements and the transfer of power from the people to the authorities based on the principle of the general will, in the form of individual freedoms that must be protected and realized. It is then very contrary to the conception of Islamic politics, which has a concept equivalent to a social contract in the form of the Bai’at concept. Therefore, this research objectives were to examine the Bai’at concept put forward by Ibn Khaldun to be a mirror for comparison of the Western social contract; and to see its implementation in the state system. Based on the library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach, it could be concluded that: first, the Western social contract contained three interconnected concepts, namely: society, sovereignty, and liberty. Second, according to Ibn Khaldun, Bai’at was very relevant to be referred to as a social contract with three pieces of evidence: the ummah or society in the position of giving the bai'at; power aimed to maintain the benefit of the ummah; and shari’a which is the agreement value. Third, its implementation in the state system was seen in the appointment of leaders in Islam: the existence of a contract between the leader and the community to benefit the hereafter

Abstract

This paper critically analyzes Indonesia's discourse on identity politics through Ibn Khaldun's theory of asabiyah (social solidarity). It aims to diagnose issues surrounding the weaponization of identity for political ends that have polarized society and eroded unity. A qualitative approach scrutinizes empirical evidence on divisive identity politics before theoretically examining it via asabiyah. Recent history shows Indonesian identity politics exacerbating intergroup intolerance and discrimination by fracturing communities along ethnic and religious lines for power consolidation, violating asabiyah's emphasis on cohesion. However, moderate identity politics can enable democratic representation of societal diversity. Moving forward requires recalibrating identity discourse by fostering the unifying religious and nationalist solidarity underpinning asabiyah to balance inherent identity affiliations with preserving pluralistic national harmony.

Abstract

It is known that the number of BMI in Singapore in 2020 was 88 thousand people, including those from Ponorogo. On the other hand, the population in Singapore consists of various ethnicities and religions. Of course this also has an influence on religious life. The aim of community service with Madani Intitut Singapore is to prepare guidelines for national and state life for BMI in Singapore, especially in worship. The implementation method used in this service is in the form of collaboration with Madani Intitut by carrying out various activities, including: hearings, counseling and hearings. The results of this collaborative service, apart from obtaining an MoU with Madani Intitut Singapore, are also the preparation of practical guidelines for national and state life for Indonesian female workers in Singapore, especially in worship for Indonesian female workers in Singapore. The conclusion from the activity is that Singapore is a country that upholds pluralism, meritocracy and the supremacy of law. The key is that all agreements are stated in the employment agreement, including in worship. Then the state will guarantee the rights of the community, including BSI in Singapore, to worship.
