Abstract

In addition to formal education, informal education has an important role in realizing competent Indonesian human resources. The form of strengthening informal education is to maximize the role of the Community Learning Activity Center. The Community Learning Activity Center has the principle of long-life education where every community has the right to get a proper education so that citizens are created superior and faithful. To realize excellence and faith, we need an appropriate concept and technique to motivate learning citizens. Self-efficacy is a concept that encourages learning citizens to grow motivation in themselves so that they are confident in solving problems and being able to achieve their dreams. The location for the implementation of community service is at PKBM Harapan Bunda located in Hamlet 1 Belilir, Balai. Kasih Village. The method of implementing the activities consists of case studies, brainstorming and focus group discussions. There are 15 learning residents who take part in this community service activity. The results of the activity showed that the residents were enthusiastic and active while participating in this community service activity. The team also conveyed motivations for learning citizens to stay enthusiastic about learning

Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan aset penting bagi kemajuan sebuah bangsa, oleh karena itu setiap warga negara harus dan wajib mengikuti jenjang pendidikan, baik jenjang pendidikan anak usia dini, pendidikan dasar, pendidikan menengah maupun tinggi. Penguasaan bahasa inggris merupakan salah satu langkah dalam memajukan sebuah bangsa. Bahasa Inggris adalah bahasa internasional di era globalisasi saat ini. Bahasa Inggris penting untuk dipelajari karena digunakan sebagai alat komunikasi internasional. Sebagai bahasa pengantar internasional, Bahasa Inggris hendaklah diajarkan kepada anak-anak sedini mungkin, agar mereka mampu bersaing di Era Kemajuan teknnologi yang sangat cepat seperti saat ini. Pemerataan pendidikan harus merata di tingkat perkotaan dan pedesaan. Sering kali terjadi ketimpangan didalamnya, terutama pada pedesaan yang sering terlambat atau bahkan tindak mendapat pendidikan yang layak setingkat dengan perkotaan, beberapa desa di kabupaten langkat mengalaminya, salah satunya desa Telaga Jernih kecamatan secanggang. Kondisi daerah yang cukup jauh menuju kota dan kendaraan umum yang jarang dan tidak ada bagi mereka yang tinggal sedikit lebih kedalam didaerah perkebunan dan pesisir pantai, terkadang mempengaruhi semangat dan minat belajar mereka. Kegiatan ‘English for kids’ adalah bermain sambil belajar untuk meningkatkan minat dan dan semangat anak anak tingkat sekolah dasar yang ada di desa tersebut dalam pelajaran bahasa inggris, para siswa merasa senang dan mudah memahami materi pelajaran pada mata pelajaran Bahasa inggris. Program ini sangat membantu mereka dalam keberanian untuk berbicara dalam kegiatan keseharian mereka, ditambah lagi saat ini mereka mendapat banyak tambahan vocabulary baru membuat belajar semakin menyenangkan.

Abstract

Penerapan model pembelajaran terkait dengan proses pembelajaran di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah menjadi hal yang harus disesuaikan dengan perkembangan zamannya. Saat ini pembelajaran di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah dituntut untuk menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis literasi, yaitu: literasi membaca, social budaya, sains dan numerasi. Penerapan pembelajaran berliterasi tentu harus menggunakan model pembelajaran yang sesuai. Maka oleh itu, model pembelajaran Literasi Orientasi Kolaborasi Refleksi (LOK-R) cocok digunakan untuk pembelajaran di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Sosialisasi Model pembelajaran Literasi Orientasi Kolaborasi Refleksi (LOK-R) di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 12 Langkat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan kepada para guru tentang system, tata cara, prosedur atau runtutan pada pembelajaran di kelas dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Literasi Orientasi Kolaborasi Refleksi (LOK-R) sehingga peserta didik/siswa mampu mengaitkan materi pembelajaran dengan peristiwa nyata yang terjadi dalam kehidupan di sekitarnya. Luaran kegiatan ini adalah para guru Madraasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 12 Langkat mampu mengaplikasikan model pembelajaran Literasi Orientasi Kolaborasi Refleksi (LOK-R) dalam kegiatan pembelajaran dikelas kepada para peserta didik sehingga pembelajaran berbasis literasi dapat direalisasikan dengan tepat.

Abstract

As the mother of knowledge, philosophy of science plays a crucial role in the development of science, particularly language education, which is a subfield of science. This study's objective is to examine language instruction in terms of three facets of the philosophy of science: anthology, epistemology, and axiology. The research approach employs a systematic literature review (SLR) to identify research publications pertinent to the research questions and objectives. Following the screening phase, five research articles that are pertinent to the research questions and objectives enter the analysis and study outcomes phases. According to the study's findings, the ontology component of education stresses the objectives of language instruction, which include core competencies, basic competencies, attitudes, knowledge, and abilities. The epistemological part focuses on language-teaching techniques that prioritize student needs. The axiological part of language learning focuses more on practical values, allowing pupils to effectively communicate following language acquisition. To ensure the continued survival of language education as a science, it is imperative that the development of language education adhere to the ontology, epistemology, and axiology characteristics that are central to the philosophy of science.

Abstract

The aim is to implement the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) model increative writing classes for students in higher education. The background is thatstudents need help finding ideas, topics and themes relevant to their writing,especially in writing poetry and short story. The pre-experimental research is usedwith one group pre-test and post-test. The sample is thirty students, which usedsimple random sampling to select the sample. Assessment criteria for poetry and ashort story are used to check the quality of students' creative writing. Thequestionnaire is used to know students' perceptions of applying CTL in creativewriting. The author used t-tests and descriptive statistics as data analysis in thisresearch. The result showed that contextual teaching and learning influencedstudents' learning outcomes and motivation and improved the production of writingpoetry and short stories. Abstract

This study explores the role of food in English language learning. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews with language teachers and learners, classroom observations, and analysis of teaching materials. The findings suggest that food can be an effective tool for engaging learners, enhancing motivation, and facilitating language acquisition. Food-related activities such as cooking, tasting, and discussing recipes can provide authentic and meaningful contexts for language learning. Food can also serve as a bridge between different cultures and facilitate intercultural communication. However, the use of food in language classrooms should be carefully designed and implemented to avoid potential issues related to cultural appropriateness and sensitivities. The study highlights the importance of considering the cultural and pedagogical implications of using food as a language learning resource. Abstract

Menulis adalah salah satu keterampilan berbahasa yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa selain mendengar, berbicara dan membaca. Dengan menulis, siswa mampu mengungkapkan ide dan gagasan berdasarkan pengalaman yang mereka alami. Recount text adalah salah satu jenis teks yang bisa ditulis oleh siswa dalam upaya untuk mengungkapkan ide dan gagasan mereka berdasarkan pengalaman yang mereka alami sendiri ataupun orang lain. Dengan menulis recount text, siswa diharapkan menjadi lebih aktif dan kreatif dalam menulis. Recount text adalah salah satu bentuk text dalam bahasa inggris yang menceritakan pengalaman-pengalaman di masa lalu baik pengalaman pribadi, kelompok atau segala peristiwa yang ditulis dalam bahasa inggris. Recount text mempunyai struktur atau elemen-elemen yang ada di dalam teks terdiri dari orientation dan sequences of events and activities. Agar siswa mampu menulis recount text, siswa membutuhkan pelatihan tentang penulisan recount text agar supaya text yang dihasilkan memiliki konten yang khas serta memenuhi kaidah-kaidah penulisan recount text. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa siswa dapat menulis recount text secara baik dalam bentuk 3-5 paragraph dan siswa dapat mempersentasikan hasil recount text di depan kelas. Pelatihan recount text merupakan bagian dari penerapan Bahasa Inggris untuk siswa paket c untuk mempersiapkan siswa dalam menghadapi globaliasi dan moderinisasi yang membutuhkan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris. Abstract

This research explores the ethnographical values in the Muram Batu’s book Hujan Kota Arang. The ethnographical values refer to the human culture, faith, belief, and language depicted in the literature, such as a short story. The author used universal categories of culture proposed by Clyde Kluckhohn consists of language, knowledge systems, social organizations, living and technological equipment systems, livelihood systems, religion, and the arts.This research is library research, and the research design is descriptive qualitative research. The author used content analysis and descriptive analysis to analyze the ethnographical elements in each short story. The result shows the ethnographical features depicted are language, social organization, religion and the arts. The language is revealed in the story of coffee shop, analieoita and dugan ragi manis. The social organization revealed in the the nemui nyimah and a story of the coffee shop. The religion is depicted in in the anaileoita and the death of sipatitik. The arts depicted in the dugan ragi manis.

Abstract

This study was structured with the aim of increasing students' vocabulary mastery, increasing motivation and learning outcomes of English for 4th grade students of MIS Baiturrahman Basilam BL 2022/2023 Academic Year using the Sing and Play method. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). In this study, researchers applied research in three cycles. Researchers used two data collection techniques, namely: observation and tests. Data is classified in the form of qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data were obtained from observations while quantitative data were obtained from student learning outcomes. The subjects of this study were 4th grade students at MIS Baiturrahman Elementary School, totaling 16 students. Data were analyzed and presented in tabular form. These results also simultaneously show that the use of the Sing and Play method can improve English vocabulary mastery and learning activity for 4th grade students at MIS Baiturrahman Elementary School. Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the use of mind mapping as a tool to improve the writing skills of students in Yaspen Nurul Huda Serapuh ABC 2023. Four students with writing difficulties participated in the study. In the study, researchers used observational techniques to determine students’ writing abilities through mind mapping. Teacher performed descriptive analyzes of students’ writing test scores before and after they applied the ”mind mapping” technique in their writing. The purpose of this study was also to determine the effectiveness of mind mapping in teaching writing. The results of this study provide insight into the effectiveness of using mind mapping in writing classes in these schools to improve students writing skills.
