Abstract

The importance of knowledge about balanced nutrition is increasing among adolescents, because adolescence is a critical phase for forming a healthy diet that will later have an impact on long-term health. However, the low understanding of the principles of balanced nutrition guidelines is still a challenge among adolescents. This community service activity aims to improve knowledge of balanced nutrition among adolescents at Alwashliyah 1 Private High School, Medan City. The method used is lectures and discussions, involving 30 adolescents at Alwashliyah 1 Private High School, Medan City, carried out in June-July 2024. The stages of the activity include preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Data were analyzed descriptively to see age and gender and tested using a paired t-test to assess differences in knowledge before and after nutrition education. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge of balanced nutrition after the intervention (p <0.05). The conclusion of this community service activity shows that balanced nutrition education through lecture and discussion methods is effective in improving adolescent knowledge about balanced nutrition. Pentingnya pengetahuan tentang gizi seimbang semakin meningkat di kalangan remaja, karena masa remaja merupakan fase kritis untuk membentuk pola makan sehat yang nantinya berdampak pada kesehatan jangka panjang. Namun, rendahnya pemahaman tentang prinsip pedoman gizi seimbang masih menjadi tantangan di kalangan remaja. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan gizi seimbang pada remaja di SMA Swasta Alwashliyah 1 Kota Medan. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah dan diskusi, melibatkan 30 remaja di SMA Swasta Alwashliyah 1 Kota Medan, dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni-Juli 2024. Tahapan kegiatan meliputi persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk melihat usia dan jenis kelamin dan diuji menggunakan paired t-test untuk menilai perbedaan pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah pendidikan gizi. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada pengetahuan gizi seimbang setelah intervensi (p<0,05). Kesimpulan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan gizi seimbang melalui metode ceramah dan diskusi efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan remaja mengenai gizi seimbang.

Abstract

Group guidance and counseling services are fundamental competencies that must be mastered by prospective guidance and counseling (BK) teachers. This study aims to analyze the level of understanding of Medan State University students towards the practice of group guidance and counseling services. The research used descriptive quantitative method with total sampling technique, involving 33 Regular E/Stambuk 2022 counseling students as respondents. The instrument used was an online questionnaire which was analyzed with descriptive tests based on mean and standard deviation. The results showed that the level of student understanding of group guidance practice was mostly in the low category (52%), while understanding of group counseling showed a similar pattern, with 52% of respondents in the low category. This finding indicates the lack of students' ability to understand and practice the stages of group guidance and counseling. This study concludes that there is a need to strengthen practice-based learning, improve professional skills, and master supporting theories. The implications of the research include recommendations for curriculum development that focuses more on intensive practice and real situation-based training. It is recommended to integrate innovative learning methods to improve student understanding.

Abstract

The transition from high school to university represents a significant period of change in the lives of first-year students. This adjustment often involves challenges in academic, social, and personal domains, with students needing to adapt to new learning environments, peer dynamics, and, in some cases, independence from family. The aim of this research is to examine differences in first year students' adjustment based on gender, culture, and domicile and living with parents or in a boarding house. The methodology employed in this study utilizes a descriptive comparative approach, which involves the integration of Two Way ANOVA with the Rasch Ranking Model. This integration is achieved by converting the raw data into logarithmic data. The study obtained politomy data using a self-adjustment scale instrument, which was disseminated online. The data were analyzed using the Rasch model. The findings show there are significant differences between the adjustment of male and female students, as well as between the Batak tribe and other tribes. Adjustment is influenced by interactions between gender and ethnicity, as well as between ethnicity and place of residence. However, no major differences in adjustment were observed with respect to specific residences or housing types.

Abstract

Penelitian ini secara khusus bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model evaluasi layanan Bimbingan dan Konseling berbasis CIPP di sekolah. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Model penilaian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product). Teknik Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara dan Observasi. Sumber data penelitian ini yaitu Kepala Sekolah, 1 Koordinator BK, 2 Guru BK, 10 orangtua dan 30 peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil evaluasi pada komponen Context, Process dan Product berada pada kategori baik, sedangkan komponen Input berada pada kategori cukup baik. Simpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa evaluasi pelaksanaan program Bimbingan dan Konseling dengan model evaluasi CIPP berada dalam kategori baik.

Abstract

This research aims to analyzes the Application of Gratitude Counseling to Improve Psychological Well Being in adolescents of Kasih Murni Teladan Orphanage Medan. This study uses a quantitative approach with the type of research method used, namely experimentation and uses a pre-experimental design research design to determine the effect of the research group before and after being given an intervention in the form of gratitude counseling to 10 adolescents with low levels of psychological well-being. The population in this study were 20 adolescents of the Kasih Murni Teladan Orphanage in Medan. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling so that a sample size of 10 adolescents with low levels of psychological well-being was obtained. Data collection techniques used in this study using questionnaires, observations and interviews. Data analysis uses parametric statistics through the t-test. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the average level of psychological well-being before being given the intervention was in the moderate and low categories but after being given the intervention it increased to the high category, thus there was a significant difference in the level of psychological well-being before and after being given the intervention.

Abstract

The analysis of module development needs in this research was the development of guidance and counseling modules which was carried out to find out how many students needed guidance and counseling modules to prevent bullying. This research is research and development (R&D) research. ADDIE is a development model used in this research including Analysis, Design, Development and Evaluation. The analysis stage is the stage of analyzing needs, curriculum and materials. The design stage involves designing the design and contents of the module. The development stage was carried out with limited trials and the implementation stage was carried out on 100 MAN 1 Medan students. The evaluation stage determines whether the modules and materials presented are suitable for use .

Abstract

In the educational context, interest in reading plays an important role in developing students' literacy and academic achievement. This research aims to find out how to encourage interest in reading through guidance and counseling services with an effective approach. This study followed the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA). Using four databases to search for papers about the study, including: Scholar, researchGate, Science Direct, and Taylor and Francis online. Online search references were found using a procedure that involved typing the keywords “interest in reading” AND “interest in literacy” AND “motivation for reading” for each database. To achieve three articles as a result after the screening procedure, author selection criteria for inclusion and exclusion were applied to the search results of 204 articles generated from the complete database. The conclusion of this review is that to increase interest in reading, it is necessary to implement guidance and counseling services that adopt an appropriate learning approach. Thus, investment in guidance and counseling services that focus on developing interest in reading can make a positive contribution to improving students' overall literacy and academic achievement.

Abstract

Program pengabdian ini bertujuan memberdayakan ibu balita di Kelurahan Kampung Baru untuk meningkatkan status gizi melalui kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Intervensi fokus pada pengetahuan dan keterampilan perawatan gigi yang benar serta kaitannya dengan gizi anak. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan pada Juni–Juli 2025 ini melibatkan 30 kader PKK dan ibu balita melalui penyuluhan, demonstrasi, dan diskusi interaktif. Hasilnya, terdapat peningkatan signifikan pada pengetahuan peserta, dengan skor pre-test rata-rata 61,9 meningkat menjadi 87,5 pada post-test. Perubahan perilaku positif terlihat pada rutinitas menyikat gigi dua kali sehari dan pola makan bergizi. Sekitar sepertiga balita mengalami karies ringan, namun setelah program, ibu mulai rutin melakukan pemeriksaan gigi dan pemantauan tumbuh kembang anak. Program ini meningkatkan kesadaran dan perilaku ibu balita serta memperkuat kapasitas kader sebagai agen perubahan, dengan harapan menjadi model intervensi berkelanjutan untuk pencegahan stunting di keluarga dan komunitas.
