This study aims to analyze the influence of caring-based emergency training on the professional competence of emergency nurses. The method used is quantitative with a quasi-experiment design (pre-post test with control group design). The research results showed that the caring-based emergency training given to the intervention group significantly influenced nurses' professional competence (p=0.000). The data testing results between groups after being given the intervention showed a significant change in the professional competence of nurses (p=0.000). In conclusion, caring-based emergency training effectively increases the professional competence of emergency nurses at RSUD Dr. Soetomo, Surabaya. An increase in nurse competency scores in both primary and secondary surveys demonstrates this. Keywords: Caring, Emergency, Professional Competency, Emergency Training, Nurse

Introduction: Therapeutic communication is important in patient care at the hospital in every patient activity and healing. This communication includes verbal and non-verbal communication. Patient satisfaction can be fulfilled if the communication provided is as expected, if not, patient dissatisfaction will arise. This study aimed to determine the correlation between therapeutic communication performed by nurses and patient satisfaction while in hospitalMethods: A cross sectional study in in the hospital with 36 patients. Total 33 respondents were recruited using consecutive sampling. Therapeutic communication and patient satisfaction measured using questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 21 with the Spearman Rho Test. Results: The results showed that most of the nurses' therapeutic communication was good as many as 21 respondents (63.6%). Meanwhile, for patient satisfaction, 17 respondents (51.4%) said they were satisfied. From the results of the Spearman Rho test, it was found correlation between therapeutic communication performed by nurses and patient satisfaction while in hospital with  p = 0.011 (p<0.05) and coefficient value was 0.438.Conclusion: Good therapeutic communication will help accelerate patient recovery and help patients to make decisions in nursing action procedures. The better the communication that is applied, the more satisfied the patient is in accepting and in accordance with his expectations.

Abstract

Introduction: The quality of life between housewives and career women facing chronic hepatitis B shows differences in coping abilities, and is influenced by several causal factors. This study aimed to explore the quality of life of housewives and career women experiencing chronic hepatitis B.Methods: This qualitative phenomenological study consisted of 14 women (seven housewives and seven career women) with chronic hepatitis B. The instruments used to collect information from participants were in-depth interviews about the supporting factors and coping mechanisms that influenced their quality of life. Participants were recruited using purposive sampling, and data were analyzed using the Colaizzi technique to describe the theme. Results: The results showed two major themes from the participants' answers: supporting factors and coping mechanisms. The sub-themes of partner support, family support, peer group support, and social community support made up the supporting factors. Meanwhile, coping mechanisms consisted of adaptive coping, improving knowledge, interacting with other people, problem-solving, and changing lifestyles and controlled routines. On the other hand, maladaptive coping caused participants to isolate, think negatively, grieve excessively, and show stress or depression symptoms. Conclusions: Housewives with chronic hepatitis B have a better quality of life than career women because they are more accepting and have better-coping mechanisms in facing this condition. The research study results can be implicated in nursing interventions to improve the coping abilities of women with chronic Hepatitis B. Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has a deep traumatic effect with high cases and deaths, thus causing survivors to experience a mental health crisis and reduced resilience. The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of spiritual religion on the loss griefing trauma of COVID-19 survivors. This study used a quasy experimental design with a pre and post test control group design. A total of 110 respondents were recruited by purposive sampling and divided into control and intervention groups. The intervention group was given spiritual religious coping interventions and the control group was given according to the intervention so far. Then both groups were measured loss griefing trauma during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test with SPSS version 21. The results showed that there was a significant influence of spiritual religious coping on loss griefing trauma. The level of loss griefing trauma showed a loss of 24.16%, bad feelings of 13.76%, lack of self-acceptance of 11.82% and severe to very large trauma conditions of 37.69%. The results of the study can be concluded that spiritual religious coping can be an effective intervention in dealing with loss griefing trauma in survivors of COVID-19.

Abstract

Introduction: ECG interpretation ability by nurses is still not appropriate, thus affecting the accuracy and speed of the next action that will be given to patients to reduce mortality. This study aimed to develop the use of an Android system based ECG interpretation algorithm application to improve the ability of nurse.  Methods: Research development design to develop the Android system based ECG interpretation algorithm application. The sampling method used purposive sampling as many as 90 nurses in Universitas Airlangga Hospital, Surabaya, Indonesia. The independent variables were interpretation skills (rhythm, frequency, pacemaker, axis, extrasistole, block, enlargement of heart muscle, coronary heart disease, conclusion). The instruments that are used are ECG recording, ECG interpretation sheet, and focus group disscusion. The analysis used an independent t-test with a significance level of α ≤ 0.05.  Results: The results of developing an ECG interpretation algorithm application based on the Android system have received recommendations from experts and feasibility tests have been carried out. There was a relationship between basic ECG interpretation capabilities with the use of an android system based ECG interpretation algorithm application. Increasing the ability of nurses had p value of 0,000. Conclusion: The application of an ECG interpretation algorithm based on an android system can improve nurses' abilities in interpreting basic ECG. For future researchers, it is necessary to develop and refine the Android system-based ECG interpretation algorithm application and this can be applied on a case-by-case basis.

Abstract

Hypertension in the elderly is still a health concern to improve the quality of life of the elderly and prevent sudden death. The aim of this research is to explain how to reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients using non-pharmacological techniques, namely Benson relaxation. This research uses a quasy-experiment research design with a pre-post test control group design. The research population was 63 elderly people with hypertension and 40 respondents were recruited as samples using purposive sampling. This research was divided into 2 groups, namely the treatment group and the control group, each with 20 respondents. The independent variable Benson's relaxation was carried out using standard operational procedures and blood pressure was measured using a spigmomanometer, stethoscope, observation sheet. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon signed rank test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The results of the study showed that giving Benson relaxation therapy to the treatment group showed a p value = 0.003, this means that there was an effect of giving Benson relaxation therapy on reducing blood pressure in the elderly. It can be concluded that Benson relaxation therapy shows a positive effect in reducing blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. So that therapy can be applied by nurses in providing nursing interventions to the elderly to increase the use of non-pharmacological therapy
