Abstract

Fantasy literature has grown, diversified, and become famous in recent decades. One such phenomenon is Harry Potter, which has a readership base from all over the world to make this fantasy literary novel one of the world's most famous cultures. However, it is crucial to know how popular culture influences moral practices in its readers, so it is necessary to identify what kind of moral representation appears in the text. This study aims to examine the representation of ideology through moral conceptions. Fairclough's critical discourse analysis was applied to discover the reality behind the text of the Harry Potter novels and The Philosopher's Stone. The finding of this study is that there are ten discourses of moral representation related to morality in education, morality in private and public interactions, morality formed based on social strata, and morality in the view of norms and ethics. Morality is not only about good and bad but how it affects the order of life in social life, even though it is represented in an unlimited imagination.Fantasy literature has grown, diversified, and become famous in recent decades. Abstract

Digital literacy is an important ability to have to succeed in today's era where almost everything is surrounded by digital technologies, tools, services, and so on. This study aims to investigate to what extent digital literacy is incorporated in EFL learning materials for senior high school students, and to describe how digital literacy is incorporated in EFL learning materials. This qualitative study uses content analyses in analyzing the 36 learning materials that have been collected from 4 different public senior high schools in the East Jakarta area from 4 different teachers. This present study found that digital literacy is not yet maximally incorporated into the learning materials. Out of 36 English learning materials, only 16 English learning materials seem to be incorporated with digital literacy indicators, while some others didn't even incorporate digital literacy at all. Digital literacy in learning materials is incorporated in many ways; instruction (43 occurrences), task (31 occurrences), text (8 occurrences), and last is the provision of links (3 occurrences).

Abstract

Microlearning provides smaller units of a subject adapted using technologies that can be accessed anywhere in a relatively short period, making learning activities more efficient and helping students learn with a specific focus in a brief session. This study aims to analyze the extent of microlearning in the existing junior high school English learning materials and describe the description of junior high school English learning materials based on microlearning. This study uses a qualitative research approach to analyze 25 English learning materials applied and used by junior high school English language teachers in East Jakarta, DKI Jakarta. The study found that most of the junior high school English learning materials are not microlearning-based as they do not fulfill the indicators of microlearning-based English materials for the junior high school level. The procedure of deconstructing 36 basic competencies into microlearning object material includes recognizing the topic and the instructional activities as well as finding suitable micro-learning object materials for the activities. The total 195 microlearning object materials are varied, such as Short videos, Games, PPTs, Quizizz, Interactive e-learning Websites, podcasts, YouTube videos, digital flashcards, and many more. In summary, as the existing English learning materials do not fulfill the indicators, the procedure of deconstructing basic competencies is made to form micro-learning object materials.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an English listening learning model infused with project-based learning and digital scholarship for autonomous learners. Digital scholarship (DS) is one element of eco-literacy that uses digital tools and technologies to make teaching and learning easier. Project-based learning (PjBL) is much better at offering contextualized, hands-on learning experiences that encourage critical thinking in the face of challenging problems. The descriptors of autonomous learners are infused into the existing learning model to create a dynamic and enriching educational experience for autonomous 10th-grade students. Conducted at a senior high school in Bogor, West Java province, the four steps of modified design and development research—need analysis, design, development, and evaluation—were applied in this study. The data were gathered by observation, interviewing, and syllabus analysis of the existing learning paradigm and reviewing pertinent research on PjBL, DS, autonomous learning, and listening comprehension. After a review of the relevant literature, it was discovered that three of eleven PjBL descriptors, five of the twenty-five DS descriptors, six of eleven B1 listening skill descriptors, and two of eleven autonomous learner descriptors had been included in the current learning model. A conceptual framework is used to develop the existing learning model to be an English listening learning model infused with project-based learning and digital scholarship for autonomous learners.
