Abstract

The Internet of Things (Internet of Things ), also known as the connectivity of various physical objects to the internet for autonomous data exchange, has become an integral part of human life. Its impact extends beyond the conventional use of smartphones for social media, influencing diverse aspect of daily activities. This research focuses on exploring the extent to which women in the city of Manado engage with Internet of Things . Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, with theory of utilization and using phenomenological methods, the study utilizes a Combination Purposive sampling technique based on the analysis of individuals actively involved in various activity (Patton, 2002). Both secondary and primary data sources are employed with the researcher serving as the primary instrument. Initially, ten informants were selected, but to enhance information gathering, an online platform survey was distributed, resulting in responses from twenty one informants. The study reveals that women in Manado extensively leverage Internet of Things technology, particularly through Internet of Things – based application on smartphones, while also utilizing devices in their artificial environments due to their availability.

Abstract

The main problem at the BKPP (Regional Personnel Board) of North Minahasa Regency is the low motivation of employees, influenced by factors such as delayed payment of allowances, political speculation in job promotions, unclean working conditions, and suboptimal implementation of training knowledge. The impact is evident in low work discipline, high levels of absenteeism, and strategic performance targets that have not been achieved. Solutions are needed to improve work motivation and address inhibiting factors to enhance public service effectiveness. This research aims to, first, assess the impact of compensation on the work motivation of Civil Servants at the BKPP of North Minahasa Regency in the context of public service. Second, identify the influence of promotions on employee motivation within the institution. Third, evaluate the relationship between the work environment and the work motivation of Civil Servants at the BKPP of North Minahasa Regency in the implementation of public services. Fourth, determine to what extent human resource development affects the work motivation of employees in the context of public service in the institution. The research method employed is explanatory with a quantitative approach, and data collection is done using questionnaires. The research sample involves 100 Civil Servants selected purposively. Data analysis is performed using SPSS to test validity, reliability, and hypotheses. The research results are expected to provide a better understanding of the factors influencing employee work motivation in the institution. The t-test analysis results show that the variables of compensation (X1), job promotion (X2), and the work environment (X3) significantly influence the work motivation (Y) of Civil Servants at the BKPP of North Minahasa Regency, with respective t-values of 2.389 (sig. 0.019), 2.270 (sig. 0.025), and 2.137 (sig. 0.035). However, the human resource development variable (X4) does not have a significant impact on work motivation, with a t-value of 0.494 (sig. 0.622). These results indicate that compensation, job promotion, and the work environment have a positive impact on work motivation, while human resource development does not significantly influence the work motivation of Civil Servants in the institution.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji peran dari elit lokal dalam pemenangan salah satu calon Hukum Tua di Desa Eris Kecamatan Tondano kabupaten Minahasa pada pemilihan Hukum Tua tahun 2022. Elit lokal yang dimaksud adalah governing elite yaitu elit yang memiliki kekuasaan politik yang berpengaruh dan mampu mempengaruhi pilihan masyarakat sebagai pemilih. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Dari hasil penelitian tergambar bahwa peran dari elit lokal tersebut dalam mempengaruhi pemilih memang sangat kuat. Elit lokal tersebut bertindak sebagai pelaku pengarah opini, dan memiliki peran untuk mengendalikan dan mempengaruhi masyarakat. Elit lokal menggunakan modal sosial dan kekuasaan yang dimilikinya untuk mendukung dan memenangkan salah satu calon. Kepemilikan modal social ternyata dapat membangun kepercayaan dari masyarakat sehingga setiap tindakan yang dia ambil menjadi panutan bagi masyarakat. Selanjutnya elit lokal memanfaatkan jabatan dan kedudukannya di dalam pemerintahan, sehingga dengan kapasitas kekuasaan yang besar tersebut dia dapat mengendalikan masyarakat tertentu. Dalam halnya pada Pilkades Desa Eris terbukti bahwa dia mampu mempengaruhi dan mengendalikan masyarakat tertentu dalam menentukan pilihan pada Pilkades. Dengan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa elit lokal berperan penting dalam Pilkades di Desa Eris tahun 2022. Kata Kunci: Elit Lokal, Hukum Tua, Pilkades ABSTRACT This research examines the role of the local elite in winning one of the Old Law candidates in Eris Village, Tondano District, Minahasa Regency in the 2022 Old Law election. The local elite in question is the governing elite, namely elites who have influential political power and are able to influence people's choices as voters. . This study uses a qualitative method. From the research results it is illustrated that the role of the local elite in influencing voters is indeed very strong. These local elites act as opinion actors, and have a role to control and influence the community. Local elites use their social capital and power to support and win over one of the candidates. Ownership of social capital turns out to be able to build trust from the community so that every action he takes becomes a role model for the community. Furthermore, local elites take advantage of their positions and positions in government, so that with this large capacity of power they can control certain communities. In the case of the Pilkades in Eris Village, it was proven that he was able to influence and control certain people in making choices in the Pilkades. With this, it can be concluded that local elites play an important role in the Pilkades in Eris Village in 2022. Keywords: Local Elite, Old Law, Pilkades

Abstract

ABSTRAK Artikel ini mengkaji proses demokrasi di desa terkait dengan pemilihan Hukum Tua di Desa Maumbi Kecamatan Kalawat, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan fokus penelitian pada bagaimana faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi proses pemilihan Hukum Tua di Desa Maumbi khususnya terkait dengan keberadaan faktor-faktor eksternal yang mempengaruhi pemenangan dari salah seorang calon hukum tua yang berkompetisi. Temuan penelitian menggambarkan bahwa dibalik keberhasilan calon Hukum Tua yang akhirnya terpilih adalah selain adanya modalitas sosial politik yang terdiri dari modal politik, modal sosial maupun modal ekonomi yang dimiliki, juga dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor eksternal yang turut mempengaruhi kemenangan yang diperoleh. Faktor eksternal dimaksud diantaranya adalah adanya dukungan dari partai politik tertentu yang dalam hal ini adalah Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan (PDIP). Selain itu adanya dukungan dari salah seorang elit partai ini yang kebetulan mempunyai pengaruh di tengah masyarakat Desa Maumbi karena merupakan salah seorang pejabat di Kabupaten Minahasa Utara. Memang dukungkan dimaksud tidak diberikan secara formal namun terlihat jelas bagi masyarakat bentuk dukungan yang diberikan. Kata Kunci: Pengaruh; Faktor Ekternal; Pemilihan Kepala Desa ABSTRACT This article examines the democratic process in the village related to the election of the Old Law in Maumbi Village, Kalawat District, North Minahasa Regency. This study used a qualitative method with a research focus on how the factors influencing the process of selecting an old law in Maumbi Village were particularly related to the existence of external factors that influenced the winning of one of the competing old law candidates. The research findings illustrate that behind the success of the Old Law candidates who were finally elected, apart from the existence of socio-political modalities consisting of political capital, social capital and economic capital owned, it was also influenced by several external factors which also influenced the victory obtained. The external factors referred to include the existence of support from certain political parties, in this case the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP). In addition, there is support from one of the party's elite who happens to have influence among the people of Maumbi Village because he is an official in North Minahasa Regency. Indeed, the intended support is not given formally, but it is clear to the community the form of support provided. Keywords: Influence; External Factors; Village Head Election

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang perilaku politik pemuda pada pemilihan kepala daerah. Pemuda dalam penelitian ini di fokuskan pada para pemuda yang ada di kelurahan Kolongan Akembawi, kecamatan Tahuna Barat, Kabupaten Kepulauan Sangihe pada pemilihan Gubernur dan Wakil Gubernur Sulawesi Utara tahun 2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk melihat bagaimana bentuk dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perilaku pemuda pada pemilihan kepala daerah di Sulawesi Utara tahun 2020 tersebut. Temuan penelitian mengambarkan terdapat beberapa bentuk perilaku para pemuda yang ada di kelurahan Kolongan Akembawi, kecamatan Tahuna Barat, Kabupaten Kepulauan Sangihe, diantaranya adalah ada yang berperilaku idealis yaitu mereka yang dalam menentukan pilihannya kepada kandidat dengan melihat visi dan misi yang disampaikan. Selain itu ada juga yang berperilaku kritis, yaitu mereka yang tidak langsung percaya dengan visi dan misi yang disampaikan dan cenderung memperhatikan rekam jejak dari kandidat. Selain kedua bentuk perilaku tersebut ada juga para pemuda yang berperilaku sebagai seorang yang memiliki kesadaran politik yang tinggi,. Sedangkan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perilaku pemuda disebabkan oleh dua faktor yaitu faktor internal dan faktor eksternal. Faktor internal yakni disebabkan karena kepemilikan pengetahuan yang mendorong kesadaran politik mereka menjadi tinggi, sedangkan faktor eksternal lebih banyak disebabkan oleh pengaruh visi misi yang disampaikan oleh para kandidat serta rekam jejak para kandidat. Kata Kunci : Perilaku politik ; Pemuda; Pemilihan Kepala Daerah ABSTRACT his study examines the political behavior of youth in regional head elections. The youth in this study focused on youth in the Kolongan Akembawi sub-district, Tahuna Barat sub-district, Sangihe Islands Regency in the 2020 election of the Governor and Deputy Governor of North Sulawesi. This study used qualitative methods to see how forms and factors influence behavior youth in the 2020 regional head election in North Sulawesi. The research findings illustrate that there are several forms of youth behavior in the Kolongan Akembawi sub-district, Tahuna Barat sub-district, Sangihe Islands Regency, including some who behave idealistically, namely those who determine their choice of candidates by looking at the vision and mission conveyed. In addition, there are also those who behave critically, namely those who do not immediately believe in the vision and mission presented and tend to pay attention to the candidate's track record. In addition to these two forms of behavior, there are also young people who behave as someone who has high political awareness. While the factors that influence youth behavior are caused by two factors, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors are caused by the ownership of knowledge that drives their political awareness to be high, while external factors are more due to the influence of the vision and mission conveyed by the candidates and the track records of the candidates. Abstract

ABSTRAK Keberadaan kaum disabilitas pada Pemilihan Kepala Daerah (Pilkada) tahun 2020 di Kota Manado cukup besar yakni tercatat 951 jiwa, dan yang menggunakan hak pilihnya tercatat 694 jiwa. (Journal KPU.go.id, Komisi Pemilihan Umum Kota Manado) hal ini tentunya memerlukan perhatian khusus dari penyelenggara yang dalam hal ini adalah merupakan tugas dari Komisi Pemilihan Umum (KPU) Kota Manado. Artikel ini mengkaji bagaimana upaya yang dilakukan oleh KPU Kota Manado dalam upaya meningkatkan partisipasi mereka dalam penyelenggaraan Pilkada tahun 2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran sekaligus akan mendeskripsikan berbagai upaya yang dilakukan KPU Kota Manado dalam meningkatkan partisipasi para kaum disabilitas yang ada di Kota Manado. Temuan penelitian menggambarkan bahwa apa yang dilakukan oleh KPU Kota Manado sudah baik dan selalu mengacu pada amanat undang-undang sesuai dengan tahapan pemilu yaitu: (1) Mendata dan memastikan penyandang disabilitas yang memenuhi syarat terdaftar sebagai pemilih; (2) Memberikan sosialisasi dan pendidikan politik bagi kelompok penyandang disabilitas; dan (3) Menjamin ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana pendukung bagi penyandang disabilitas guna memberikan hak pilihnya. Namun berbagai upaya yang dilakukan oleh KPU Kota Manado masih menghadapi kendala dari sisi pendanaan. Kata Kunci: Peran; Komisi Pemilihan Umum; Disabilitas ABSTRACT The presence of people with disabilities in the 2020 Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) in Manado City is quite large, with 951 people recorded, and 694 people exercising their right to vote. This article examines the efforts made by the Manado City KPU in an effort to increase their participation in organizing the 2020 Pilkada. Manado City. The research findings illustrate that what the Manado City KPU has done is good and always refers to the mandate of the law in accordance with the election stages, namely: (1) To collect data and ensure that persons with disabilities who meet the requirements are registered as voters; (2) Providing socialization and political education for groups of persons with disabilities; and (3) Ensure the availability of supporting facilities and infrastructure for persons with disabilities in order to give their right to vote. Abstract

Artikel ini mengkaji bagaimana sikap Indonesia pada masa pemerintahan Joko Widodo dalam rangka menyelesaikan konflik sengketa klaim di Laut Cina Selatan. Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif penelitian ini akan mendeskripsikan bagaimana sikap pemerintah Indonesia dimasa Pemerintahan Presiden Joko Widodo pada periode 2014-2019 dalam upaya menyelesaikan konflik yang terjadi di Laut China Selatan. Dari hasil penelitian tergambar bahwa sikap Indonesia dalam menangani konflik wilayah perairan Natuna dengan China adalah dengan melakukan litigasi yaitu menggunakan pengadilan internasional dalam permasalahan ini. hal itu dilakukan karena kedua negara bisa mengajukan gugatan dan bantahannya masing-masing. Indonesia juga menggunakan cara komunikasi internasional agar bisa dibicarakan dengan baik, harmonis, dan damai. Terakhir Indonesia juga menggunakan pendekatan geopolitik, pendekatan pertahanan, pendekatan keamanan, pendeketan hukum dan diplomasi serta pendekatan kerjasama ekonomi. Dampak konflik klaim China di laut Natuna Utara terhadap hubungan diplomatic Indonesia dengan China tidak terlalu signifikan, buktinya pada era Jokowi Indonesia beberapa kali mengunjungi Tiongkok untuk membahas kerjasama dalam bidang ekonomi, pembangunan, maritim, pajak, antariksa, BUMN & BankChina dan industry & Infrastruktur. Sepertinya Indonesia berfokus pada kerjasama dengan Tiongkok tanpa memperdulikan masalah batas wilayah Natuna Utara dan Laut China Selatan. Kata Kunci: Sikap Politik; Indonesia; Laut China Selatan ABSTRACT This article examines how Indonesia's attitude during the Joko Widodo administration in order to resolve conflict over claims in the South China Sea. By using a qualitative descriptive method, this research will describe the attitude of the Indonesian government during President Joko Widodo's administration in the 2014-2019 period in efforts to resolve the conflict that occurred in the South China Sea. From the research results, it is clear that Indonesia's attitude in handling the conflict over the Natuna waters with China is by conducting litigation, namely using international courts in this matter. This was done because both countries could submit their own complaints and objections. Indonesia also uses international communication methods so that it can be discussed well, harmoniously and peacefully. Lastly, Indonesia also uses a geopolitical approach, a defense approach, a security approach, a legal and diplomatic approach and an economic cooperation approach. The impact of the conflict over China's claims in the North Natuna Sea on Indonesia's diplomatic relations with China is not very significant, the proof is that during the Jokowi era, Indonesia visited China several times to discuss cooperation in the fields of economics, development, maritime, tax, space, BUMN & Bank China and industry & infrastructure. It seems that Indonesia is focused on cooperation with China without paying attention to the border issues of North Natuna and the South China Sea. Abstract

Illegal fishing still occurs in Indonesian waters, although various efforts have been made to deal with it. This illegal activity is not only a problem for Indonesia, but also a cross-country problem because the actors and activities are cross-country, and because of that, the handling of this problem must be carried out cross-country, especially through bilateral cooperation. This study aims to determine the Indonesian Government's Efforts to Handle Illegal Fishing on the Border of Indonesia and the Philippines. The lack of a defense and security system in Indonesian waters has led to the emergence of threats such as illegal exploitation and exploration of fishery products that are not reported and are not in accordance with predetermined rules carried out by foreign parties. This act of fishing activity is commonly referred to as Illegal. This research uses a descriptive-analytic research method.With data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. The results of the research show that cooperation between Indonesia and the Philippines can run well if the Philippines itself is quick in responding to ideas and agreements that have been mutually agreed upon, the slow response from the Philippines itself makes the second agreement slow to process, therefore the strategy that can be carried out by Indonesia in encouraging a quick response from the Philippines itself is by discussing every collaboration that is ongoing or has expired intensively and continuously. Bilateral talks can accelerate cooperation between the two countries in a better and more advanced direction.

Abstract

Smuggling and trade of illegal goods in the Indonesia-Philippines border continues to this day. This study aimed to discern the routes and methods used for those illegal activities and identify the types of goods smuggled and traded from the Philippines to Indonesia from a transnational organized crime perspective. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. Data were obtained using the following techniques: in-depth interviews, observations, literary studies, and comparison of field findings with theoretical frameworks. The results suggested three main routes for smuggling and illegal trading. The operation is carried out disguised as fishermen bartering fishery products using small, modified boats such as pump boats, supported by information from existing smuggling networks on the land. The smuggled goods are identified as fighting roosters, vitamins and medications for roosters, ethyl alcohol-containing beverages/MMEA, cosmetics, plywood, and firearms.

Abstract

Islam is an inseparable part of this nation, playing a massive role in the historical development of national civilization. As the country with the largest Muslim population in the world in 2023, Islam's influence on Indonesia, including its politics, is significant, particularly in political preferences. Within the abundance of Indonesia's resources lies the unique entity of Kampung Arab Manado, a Muslim community amidst a predominantly Christian population in Manado City. This article examines the influence of Islam on political preferences during the 2024 Legislative Elections in Kampung Arab Manado. This study employs a quantitative method (explanatory research) by conducting a simple regression analysis. The study's results indicate that the influence of Islam on political preferences in the 2024 Legislative Elections in Kampung Arab Manado yields a significance value of 0.000, which is smaller than the probability of 0.05. Therefore, the hypothesis of this study is accepted, confirming that there is an influence of Islam on political preferences in the 2024 Legislative Elections in Kampung Arab Manado. The magnitude of Islam's influence on political preferences reaches 13%, meaning that the higher the influence of Islam, the higher the political preference tendencies in the community. Additionally, if the value of Islam increases by 1%, it will increase political preferences by 0.697 in the 2024 Legislative Elections in Kampung Arab Manado.
