Abstract

This research was conducted due to the students’ difficulties in expressing their ideas when they were asked to write tales .this researcsh was designed for describing the students’ ability in rewriting spoken tales in class VII of SMP Negeri 35 Padang. This was a  aquantitative research which used descriptive method. The data of the research was gotten from a test. The result of the research showed that the students’ ability in rewriting the spoken tales in class VII of SMP negeri 35 Padang was good in which the students’ average score was 81,94%. The students’ ability in rewriting the  rewriting the spoken tales viewed from (1) plot was good in  which the students’ average score was 77,08%,(2) background was very good in which the students’ average score was 86,45%, (3) characters was good in which the students’ average score was 82,29%. Based on these results , it was concluded that the ability of the stundents’ in class VII of SMP Negeri 35 Padang in rewriting the spoken tales was good in which the students average score was 81,94%.

Abstract

This research is motivated first, the lack of interest of students to read the news, zecond, students are in able to understand the elements that must be considered in reading the news, third, instructional methods used by teachers are less varied and monotonous. This study aimed to obtain a description of " the ability of a class XI students SMA N 1 Painan in reading the news using audio-visual media in accordance with the elements of reading the news like intonation, pronunciation , and the the performance". This research is a quantitative research using descriptive methods. The results of the study are (1) the ability to read the news seen from intonation obtain an average value of 76.34 is at a good level qualification with 76-85% mastery level, (2) the ability to read news views of pronunciation obtain an average value of 71.03 was the qualifying level is more than adequate to the level of mastery of 66-75%, (3) the ability to read the news seen from the attitude obtain an average value of 75.85 was the qualifying level of more than quite to the level of 66-75% mastery. Based on the research and analysis of the data, we conclud that the ability to read a class XI students news SMA N 1 Painan using audio-visual media obtain an average value of 74.32 was more than enough in qualifying with a mastery level of 66-75% .

Abstract

This research is motivated by three issues (1) students are less able to describe  backround in a play, (2) students are less able to the deter mine a character in a play, and (3) students are less able to describe the sequence of events in a drama scipt by using the media stories. The purpuse ofthis study was to describe the ability to write a play grade VIII SMP N 20 Padang by using the media stories. This type of research is a quantitative study using descriptive methods. This study population is grade VIII SMPN 20 Padang of the school year 2013/2014. Number of students, the population in this study were 236 students, the largest in the eight grade. The study sample was 28 people. Data in this study were obtained by means of giving the test to students. Based on the results of a study of the ability to write a play grade VIII SMPN 20 Padang by using the media stories following condusions can be drawn. The first ability to write a play using media stories for indicator 1 (describing background) are in good qualification (B) with an avarage of 84,52 students second, the indicator 2 (figures are in perfect qualificatin (S) with an avarage of 100 students, and third , indicator 3 (series events) are more enough in qualifying (LDC) with an avarage of 70,23 students. Based on research result that has been  done on the ability to write a play grade SMPN20 Padang by using the media stories can be concluded that the ability to write a play VIII SMPN 20 Padang earned an avarage of 84,93 were the range of 76-85% well qualified (B).Â
