Abstract

Music education, particularly the teaching of regional songs, plays an important role in fostering cultural appreciation and developing students’ musical skills. However, in practice, the learning of regional songs at SMP Negeri 3 Bone still faces various challenges, such as low student interest and learning motivation, as well as limited mastery of vocal techniques, including intonation, articulation, and breathing. This study aims to describe the learning process of the Gorontalo regional song Tidi Lo Polopalo through the implementation of an active learning strategy and to determine the effectiveness of this strategy in improving the vocal abilities of eighth-grade students (Class VIII-B) at SMP Negeri 3 Bone. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the application of the active learning strategy increases students’ participation in the learning process, creates a more interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere, and enhances students’ vocal abilities in terms of intonation, articulation, and breathing. Furthermore, learning regional songs through this strategy fosters students’ self-confidence, cooperation, and appreciation of Gorontalo local culture. Therefore, the active learning strategy is considered effective for use in teaching the regional song Tidi Lo Polopalo in the Cultural Arts subject at SMP Negeri 3 Bone. Abstract

The problem addressed in this study is whether the role-playing method can improve students’ creativity in SBdP (Arts, Culture, and Crafts) learning in Grade III at SDN 2 Kabila Bone, Bone Bolango Regency. The purpose of this study is to improve students’ creativity through the application of the role-playing method in SBdP learning in Grade III at SDN 2 Kabila Bone, Bone Bolango Regency. This study employed classroom action research (CAR). Data collection techniques included tests, observation, and documentation. Based on observations conducted on January 20, 2024, during the pre-study phase at SDN 2 Kabila Bone, students’ creativity was found to be relatively low. This was evident during the learning process, as some students required considerable assistance from the teacher to complete activities, while others were unable to express their own ideas without guidance from the teacher, and still others were reluctant and shy when asked to come to the front of the class. The findings of Cycle I’s first meeting indicated that the predetermined assessment indicators had not yet been achieved, as overall student performance remained low: of the 22 students, only 4 (18%) met the criteria, while 18 (82%) did not. In Cycle I, the second meeting, students’ creativity, as measured by the role-playing method, increased, with 9 students (41%) meeting the criteria and 13 students (59%) not yet meeting the criteria. Furthermore, in Cycle II, the first meeting, there was a further improvement, with 13 students (59%) meeting the criteria and 9 students (41%) not meeting the criteria. Based on the findings of the actions in Cycle II, the second meeting, it can be concluded that students’ creativity, as measured through the use of the role-playing method in SBdP learning in Grade III at SDN 2 Kabila Bone, Bone Bolango Regency, improved and reached the targeted level. Theoretical framework: The study is based on multimodal learning, particularly multimedia learning theory, which suggests that combining visual and auditory elements enhances understanding and coordination, especially in kinesthetic activities like dance. Literature review:  Previous studies highlight the effectiveness of audio-visual media in teaching dance by providing clear visual models, improving movement replication, and fostering engagement. It also emphasizes the importance of cultural competence in dance education. Methods: A classroom action research design was employed with two cycles, each consisting of two meetings. Data were collected through observations, performance tests, and documentation, assessing students' skills in movement, rhythm, and expression. Results: The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ performance in the Kabela dance after the implementation of audio-visual media. In the first cycle, only 8 students (44%) achieved satisfactory performance. However, in the second cycle, 16 students (89%) demonstrated mastery of the dance movements. The use of audio-visual media was shown to be an effective tool in enhancing students' understanding, coordination, and expression in performing the Kabela dance. Abstract

This study addresses the problem of whether the implementation of the Drill and Practice method can improve students’ ability in performing Saronde dance movements among fifth-grade students at SDN 29 Kota Selatan, Gorontalo. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design consisting of two cycles. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation techniques. The initial observation indicated that students had not yet been taught Saronde dance by the teacher, resulting in low performance ability. During the implementation of Cycle I, the number of students who achieved competency in Saronde dance movements was 3 students (27%) in the first meeting, which increased to 5 students (45%) in the second meeting. In Cycle II, further improvement was observed, with 8 students (73%) achieving competency in the first meeting, and eventually reaching 11 students (100%) in the second meeting.
