Abstract

In this paper, we discuss probit model on multivariate binary response. We assume that each of n individuals is observed in T responses. Yit is tth response on ith individual/subject and each response is binary. Each subject has covariate Xi (individual characteristic) and covariate Zijt (characteristic of alternative j). Response on individual ith can be represented by Yi = (Yi1,....,YiT), Yit is tth response on ith individual/subject and each response is multinomial. In order to simplify, we choose one of individual characteristics and alternative characteristics. We use simulated maximum likelihood estimator (SMLE) methods to estimate the parameter based on Geweke-Hajivassiliou-Keane (GHK) simulator. We find the first derivative of likelihood function for multivariate binary probit. Then, we expand to multivariate multinomial response. The first derivative is used in the BHHH (Berndt, Hall, Hall, Hausman) iteration to obtain estimators.

Abstract

In this paper, we discuss binary multivariate response modeling based on extreme value distribution. Independent variables used in these models are some attributes of the alternative (labeled Zijt) and some attributes of the decision maker (labeled Xi). We assumed that n the decision maker observed with T response. Yit is tnd response variables from decision maker i and value Yit is binary. Response of decision maker i can be expressed as Yi = (Yi1,...,YiT). In each of the decision maker, we have data (Yi, Xi, Zi). Models are derived by the assumption that maximum random utility which the decision maker i choose one of the alternatives having greatest utility. Methods of parameter estimation are Maximum Likelihood Estimator (MLE) method and Generalized Estimating Equation (GEE). First discussion in this study is the estimation by MLE with independent assumption among response and then the MLE estimation using joint distribution by Bahadur’s representation. By MLE and GEE, estimating equations are obtained and solved by numerical (like’s Newthon-Rahpson method) in the condition that not all of the parameters of individual attributes can be estimated (identified). Based on testing simulation data with R.2.5.0, we recommend (a) in low correlation, GEE is better than MLE (b) in moderate correlation, MLE is most efficient but not stable (c) in high or moderate correlation, MLE and GEE should be used (d) correlation estimators cannot explain the real correlation because of its bias.

Abstract

Study on quantitative solubility and structure relationship of organophospate pesticide has been conducted. Aim of this research is to analyze relationship between characteristic physical properties (water solubility) of pesticide with molecular structure by a model that can be used to predict physical properties of new compound proposed to be pesticide compound. Analysis was done for 52 organopospate compounds and its water solubility data. The model predicted by 39 fagmental descriptor based on spesific structure of organophospate compound. Analysis used in modeling are cluster analysis, one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and regression analysis. Result show water solubility of the pesticide compound positive effect by functional group of P=O, N-primer and C=O in the structure. Functional group of S (sulphur), fen (phenil) , C-aromatic, C1-C2, C3-C4, C5-C6, Ortho Aromatic, P=S, C-Cl and log(Mr) decrease water solubility. The model resulted by regression analysis using stepwise and best subset method is : Ln(1+watsol) = 11.0 - 0.352 n C (aromatic) - 5.41 n (P=S) - 1.55 n (C-Cl), F-value = 32.43 (sign. 0,000) , R2 = 0.67 dan S=2.643. The model can be used to predict the organoposphate water solubility. Keywords : QSPR, ANOVA, regression analysis, organophospate pesticide
