Abstract

The aimed of this research was to know the causes of pronunciation errors made by the students and whether the method of learning English prounciation using song can improve the student’s pronouncing English words at SMAN 8 Bengkulu. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive. The informants in this research were students from X IPS 1 Data collection is done by interview and quistionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed by reduction of data, presentation of data, and drawing conclusions.The research results show that most of studens of X IPS 1 more interested and understanding if learning English pronunciation using songs because they can follow a native speaker to say English words correctly. The causes error of their English pronunciation is a lack of their confidence when they speaking English and the media can also be an easy or difficult factor for students to learning English pronunciation. It can be concluded that is the right media for students English pronunciation.

Abstract

This study was aimed at finding out: (1) the significant difference in speaking achievement between the students who were trained with Instagram activity and those who were not; (2) the significant difference in motivation toward English Speaking between before and after the students were trained using Instagram Activity technique; (3) the interaction between teaching strategies and motivation toward students’ speaking ability; and (4) the students’ feedbacks concerning the Instagram Activity shown by the difference in students’ speaking achievement. This study applied a quasi experimental study. The instruments used to find out the data were questionnaire and tests. The calculation of the study was applying descriptive and inferential analysis. The study result showed that Instagram activity in English speaking class was applied during the process of the teaching and learning in the classroom. It showed significant different on students` English achievement from pre-test to post-test between the students with low and high motivation. It means that Instagram activity could improve students` English speaking skill and could also motivate students to learn more.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to measure improvement the students in reading comprehension through Story Face Strategy of Narrative text at MA AL-Kariim Bengkulu Tengah. This reserach was conducted using classroom action. In conducting this research, the researcher used of story face strategyto improve students reading comprehension of narrative text. The researcher chose second grade students of MA Al-Kariim Bengkulu Tengah as the sample of the research. Class XI IPS consists of 26 students. Therefore, the subjects of this research were26 students. The finding of this research showed that Story Face strategy improved the students’ reading comprehension at second grade of MA Al-Kariim Bengkulu Tengah. The percentage of students who passed the minimum mastery criterion improved continuallly from baseline data to cycle 1, cycle 2, and cycle 3. The mean score also improved continually from baseline to cycle 3.The researcher suggested the following points: English teachers can apply Face Story strategy as one of the alternative way to improve students’ reading comprehension and to improve students’ academic achievement. It could help the teacher in applying various activities in the classroom. Further research is highly recommended to find as many as good reading strategy and technique to be applied in the classroom. By finding other strategy and technique, it hopes can create better reading comprehension for the students

Abstract

This study aimed to find out empirical data, to see using picture strategy effective in improving students’ reading skill at seventh-grade student of SMP Negeri 8 Seluma. The sample of this study was 62 students taken from the first grade of SMP Negeri 8 Seluma, the students were 31 students of VII-A, as experiment class and 31 students from VII-B, as control class. The method which was used in this study was a quantitative method and the design used in this study was an experiment design. The data collected in this research were analyzed by using t-test. According to the result of statistical calculation, the obtained value of (t-observation) is 2.67 and the value of “tt” (t table) from the df (60) on the degree of significance of 5% is 2.01. Comparing to the with each value of the degree of significance, the writer finds 2.67 > 2.04. So too is higher than tt or to > tt. The finding of this study it can be concluded that using the picture in teaching reading skill is quite a success by using Picture. It is not only effective to lead students to feel more interesting and enjoy doing activity in the class but also it can give the students the opportunities to be active in teaching a Reading skill.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was aimed at: (1) 1) finding out how the use of role play in improving the students` English speaking ability; and (2) finding out whether or not the use of role play was able to improve the quality of Students` English speaking in Midwifery Major in Medical InstitutionBengkulu, Indonesia. This study applied Classroom Action Research with two cycles. The instruments used to find out the data were observation, tests and interview. The calculation of the study was applying simple calculation, i.e. by finding out the means differences of the pre-test and post-tests in Cycle 1 and Cycle 2. The study result showed that role play was applied during the process of the teaching and learning in the classroom. It showed significant different on students` English achievement from pre-test to post-test in Cycle 2. It means that role play method could improve students` English speaking skill and couldalso motivate students to learn more.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to get empirical evidenceof the improving students’ reading comprehension of narrative text through suggestopedia method. The method of this research was classroom action research which was conducted in two cycles. The subject of this research was the Second Grade Students of SMA Pesantren Pancasila Bengkulu at Academic Year 2017/2018 with total number of students 18. The research instruments were the observation sheet, interview guidelines, questionnaire and test form. Based on the results of data analysis of pre-test and post-test shown the significant improvement. The average score of pre-test was 54,05. It means two students’ score could pass the KKM. It was 11,11% passed the learning outcome . The average score of post-test 1 was 72,94. It proved that 44,44% students passed KKM. The average score of post-test 2 was 82,77. Then, it was obtained that the percentage of students who could get the score above the KKM in post-test 2 was 100%. Based on the learning activities which have occurred the enhancing from the first to second cycle. From this research findings, it showed that suggestopedia method could improve the students’ reading comprehension of narrative text.

Abstract

Seluma Utara sub-district is one of the areas whose villages are classified as underdeveloped and even quite apprehensive, the three villages that are categorized as quite apprehensive are Sikalak Village, Sinar Pagi, and Talang Banyan Village, based on the results of observations and interviews, the cause of the lagging of these three villages is road access that has not There is still sufficient clay, the low level of public education, natural resources that are not managed properly, and the absence of electricity, this causes difficulties in carrying out activities. The study of physical and non-physical potential is a method that can be used to develop a strategy for developing underdeveloped villages in North Seluma District, especially in three villages, namely Sikalak Village, Sinar Pagi and Talang Banyan Village. The findings obtained are: 1) physical potential: a) the land is used for agriculture and contains mineral coal; b) cold climate; c) highlands; d) the majority of the community, apart from farming, also raise poultry for their daily needs and to sell them; 2) Non-physical potential: a) the distance traveled by people who will travel from the village is very far and there is no transportation that can transport people outside the village but using their own vehicle; b) road facilities that are quite apprehensive are obstacles for the community to enter and exit the village; c) other infrastructure facilities such as education and health are not available in the area. From these findings, strategies for developing underdeveloped villages in the North Seluma region can be drawn up in particular: 1) conduct socialization in various fields; 2) carry out training and empowerment of agriculture and livestock in the community. build 3) village road facilities that connect with other areas; 4) build a power grid; 5) build educational facilities; 6) build health facilities; 7) build a traditional hall.

Abstract

Against the background, the potential for tourism has not been managed into a single tourism package that can contribute to Local Original Revenue if it is managed properly. The purpose of this study is to formulate alternative strategies for developing tourism villages in Kemumu Village, Arma Jaya District, North Bengkulu by making physical, cultural and artificial potential into an attractive tour package. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive type conducted at the Office of Tourism and Culture of North Bengkulu Regency, Muara Bangkahulu District, Society and tourists. Determination of the informant is done purposively. Data collection is done through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data management is done through SWOT analysis. The results of the study can be formulated by six development strategies that the government must undertake: 1) improving access roads for connecting with other regions; 2) building supporting facilities around attractions (such as toilets, places of worship, restaurants, temporary dwellings, villas, parking lots and culture areas); 3) provide a place for cultural arts performances; 4) cooperating with farmers regarding permits to use terraced rice terraces or terraces for tourism activities (such as: tourists may participate in farming activities); 5) cooperating with private parties; 6) provide training to the community.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan melalui kegiatan yang berjudul Pendampingan Ujian Nasional Berbasis Komputer (UNBK) Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris di SMA Pancasila Bengkulu. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membantu siswa-siswi kelas XII dalam menghadapi Ujian Nasional Berbasis Komputer (UNBK) untuk mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan cara memberikan pengetahuan tentang simulasi UNBK, latihan-latihan soal serta tips dan trik dalam mengerjakan soal UNBK mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris tersebut. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah metode ceramah dan diskusi pembahasan soal-soal UNBK Bahasa Inggris. Peserta yang menjadi target pelatihan ini adalah siswa-siswa kelas XII. Prosedur kegiatan ini adalah memberikan latihan-latihan soal kepada peserta, mendiskusikan dan bertanya jawab. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada perubahan sikap siswa dalam menghadapi UNBK, siswa lebih siap dan percaya diri dalam menghdapi UNBK pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris tahun 2019.  Dengan demikian, dapat dikatakan bahwa pendampingan Ujian Nasional Berbasis Komputer (UNBK) mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris berhasil dan sukses.Abstract: Community service is carried out through an activity entitled Assistance on Computer-Based National Examinations (UNBK) for English Subjects at SMA Pancasila Bengkulu. This community service activity was aimed to help students in class XII to face the Computer-Based National Examination (UNBK) for English subjects by providing knowledge about UNBK simulations, practice exercises and tips and tricks in working on UNBK English subjects. The method used in this dedication activity was the lecture and discussion of English UNBK questions. Participants who were the target of this training were students of class XII. The procedure of this activity was to give exercises to the participants, discussed and asked questions. The results of this service showed that there was a change in students' attitudes in dealing with UNBK; students were more prepared and confident in dealing with UNBK on English subjects in 2019. Thus, it can be said that the accompaniment of the Computer-Based National Examination (UNBK) of English subjects was successful.

Abstract

This study examines the Electoral Credibility Optimization Strategy by Election Stakeholders in Maximizing Voter Turnout and preventing Vote Buying in the 2020 New Normal Election. Substantive quality of electoral democracy. Massive socialization, education, and literacy efforts are needed by election stakeholders so that the quality of procedural and substantial democracy is maintained without creating opportunities for the pandemic epicenter and new clusters for the spread of Covid 19. The main factors affecting participatory and substantive quality in the era new normal is how the form of political socialization carried out by election stakeholders to form the voters' electoral mindset in the new normal period. This research uses descriptive methods. qualitative. The technique of collecting data is through primary data obtained from in-depth interviews with election organizer stakeholders. Secondary data collection by citing books, journals, documents, and online media. Data analysis techniques through data reduction activities, data display, and drawing conclusions. The result of the research is that election organizer stakeholders have made efforts and strategies in optimizing Electoral Credibility in Maximizing Voters-Turnout and preventing Vote Buying in the 2020 New Normal Pilkada through a series of socialization, education and literacy.
