The aimed of this research was to know the causes of pronunciation errors made by the students and whether the method of learning English prounciation using song can improve the student’s pronouncing English words at SMAN 8 Bengkulu. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive. The informants in this research were students from X IPS 1 Data collection is done by interview and quistionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed by reduction of data, presentation of data, and drawing conclusions.The research results show that most of studens of X IPS 1 more interested and understanding if learning English pronunciation using songs because they can follow a native speaker to say English words correctly. The causes error of their English pronunciation is a lack of their confidence when they speaking English and the media can also be an easy or difficult factor for students to learning English pronunciation. It can be concluded that is the right media for students English pronunciation.

The objective of this research was to measure improvement the students in reading comprehension through Story Face Strategy of Narrative text at MA AL-Kariim Bengkulu Tengah. This reserach was conducted using classroom action. In conducting this research, the researcher used of story face strategyto improve students reading comprehension of narrative text. The researcher chose second grade students of MA Al-Kariim Bengkulu Tengah as the sample of the research. Class XI IPS consists of 26 students. Therefore, the subjects of this research were26 students. The finding of this research showed that Story Face strategy improved the students’ reading comprehension at second grade of MA Al-Kariim Bengkulu Tengah. The percentage of students who passed the minimum mastery criterion improved continuallly from baseline data to cycle 1, cycle 2, and cycle 3. The mean score also improved continually from baseline to cycle 3.The researcher suggested the following points: English teachers can apply Face Story strategy as one of the alternative way to improve students’ reading comprehension and to improve students’ academic achievement. It could help the teacher in applying various activities in the classroom. Further research is highly recommended to find as many as good reading strategy and technique to be applied in the classroom. By finding other strategy and technique, it hopes can create better reading comprehension for the students

ABSTRACT The research was a classroom action research. It aimed to to find out weither the implementation of Think Pair Share strategy to improve students' reading comprehension. The subjects of this research were Semester 4 students of English Study Program of Universitas Prof. Dr. Hazairin, S.H Bengkulu which consisted of five females and three males The instruments of the research were reading comprehension test, observation checklists and questionnaire. This research focused on reading comprehension. The research was conducted in two cycles that consisted of four steps in each cycle namely plan, action, observation, and reflection. The result of reading comprehension test showed that Think-Pair-Share strategy improved students’ reading comprehension students Mean score in cycle 1 is 62,9 increased to 79,2 in cycle 2.

This study aimed to find out empirical data, to see using picture strategy effective in improving students’ reading skill at seventh-grade student of SMP Negeri 8 Seluma. The sample of this study was 62 students taken from the first grade of SMP Negeri 8 Seluma, the students were 31 students of VII-A, as experiment class and 31 students from VII-B, as control class. The method which was used in this study was a quantitative method and the design used in this study was an experiment design. The data collected in this research were analyzed by using t-test. According to the result of statistical calculation, the obtained value of (t-observation) is 2.67 and the value of “tt†(t table) from the df (60) on the degree of significance of 5% is 2.01. Comparing to the with each value of the degree of significance, the writer finds 2.67 > 2.04. So too is higher than tt or to > tt. The finding of this study it can be concluded that using the picture in teaching reading skill is quite a success by using Picture. It is not only effective to lead students to feel more interesting and enjoy doing activity in the class but also it can give the students the opportunities to be active in teaching a Reading skill.

Although reading has been learned by students since they start to learn the English language but it still becomes the most difficult skill to be acquired than speaking, writing, and listening. It is a possibility caused by the students have a limitation of knowledge about reading roles, different learning styles, lazy to read, and low motivation for effective reading because of a too-long passage and different types of text. Therefore, students must be serious to acquire this skill. In this article, the writers would like to introduce a suitable approach for teaching reading using mind mapping techniques. The results of the data, the researcher concludes that the students’ have some difficulties in identifying reading skills and understanding the mind mapping, many of the students have difficulties in this factor because the result shows a high number of percentage give the answer very not good and not good. The last is the result of learning English, most of the students have enough understood about teaching and learning English. After reading this article, the writer expects that this article can help English teachers to apply suitable approach for teaching reading of English texts.

This study aimed to produce Reading Teaching Materials which valid and effective. It can use to the students especially for Reading subjects. Research and development design was used for this study. The research was conducted at Fourth Semester English Students Prof. DR. Hazairin, SH University. Data collecting techniques used were tests, interviews, and questionnaires. The Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis of quantitative and qualitative. The results showed that the materials developed are valid, and effective. The validity showed from the assessment of lesson plan (RPS), student worksheet (LKS), teaching materials, and tests of learning outcomes. While the effectiveness of reading teaching materials based on Think Pair Share model that have been developed by learning activity indicated enthusiastic students in the learning process by using Think Pair Share model achievements approval ≥ 75%. In addition to the learning outcomes of students have reached 92,5%. While the response of students to the learning process that had been conducted shows that the high positive response, the above achievements calculating response was 80%. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the Reading teaching materials based Think Pair Share Model can be used and implemented on students, especially in the subject of Reading. The objective of the research was to get empirical evidenceof the improving students’ reading comprehension of narrative text through suggestopedia method. The method of this research was classroom action research which was conducted in two cycles. The subject of this research was the Second Grade Students of SMA Pesantren Pancasila Bengkulu at Academic Year 2017/2018 with total number of students 18. The research instruments were the observation sheet, interview guidelines, questionnaire and test form. Based on the results of data analysis of pre-test and post-test shown the significant improvement. The average score of pre-test was 54,05. It means two students’ score could pass the KKM. It was 11,11% passed the learning outcome . The average score of post-test 1 was 72,94. It proved that 44,44% students passed KKM. The average score of post-test 2 was 82,77. Then, it was obtained that the percentage of students who could get the score above the KKM in post-test 2 was 100%. Based on the learning activities which have occurred the enhancing from the first to second cycle. From this research findings, it showed that suggestopedia method could improve the students’ reading comprehension of narrative text.

Abstrak: Pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan melalui kegiatan yang berjudul Pendampingan Ujian Nasional Berbasis Komputer (UNBK) Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris di SMA Pancasila Bengkulu. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membantu siswa-siswi kelas XII dalam menghadapi Ujian Nasional Berbasis Komputer (UNBK) untuk mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan cara memberikan pengetahuan tentang simulasi UNBK, latihan-latihan soal serta tips dan trik dalam mengerjakan soal UNBK mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris tersebut. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah metode ceramah dan diskusi pembahasan soal-soal UNBK Bahasa Inggris. Peserta yang menjadi target pelatihan ini adalah siswa-siswa kelas XII. Prosedur kegiatan ini adalah memberikan latihan-latihan soal kepada peserta, mendiskusikan dan bertanya jawab. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada perubahan sikap siswa dalam menghadapi UNBK, siswa lebih siap dan percaya diri dalam menghdapi UNBK pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris tahun 2019. Dengan demikian, dapat dikatakan bahwa pendampingan Ujian Nasional Berbasis Komputer (UNBK) mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris berhasil dan sukses.Abstract: Community service is carried out through an activity entitled Assistance on Computer-Based National Examinations (UNBK) for English Subjects at SMA Pancasila Bengkulu. This community service activity was aimed to help students in class XII to face the Computer-Based National Examination (UNBK) for English subjects by providing knowledge about UNBK simulations, practice exercises and tips and tricks in working on UNBK English subjects. The method used in this dedication activity was the lecture and discussion of English UNBK questions. Participants who were the target of this training were students of class XII. The procedure of this activity was to give exercises to the participants, discussed and asked questions. The results of this service showed that there was a change in students' attitudes in dealing with UNBK; students were more prepared and confident in dealing with UNBK on English subjects in 2019. Thus, it can be said that the accompaniment of the Computer-Based National Examination (UNBK) of English subjects was successful.

This study was conducted to find out the effect of Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy and reading motivation on students’reading comprehension. This research was an experimental research. The population of the research was the second semester students of law faculty Universitas Prof. Dr. Hazairin, SH Bengkulu. There were six classes which consisted of 185 students. This research used cluster random sampling. This research data was obtained from reading comprehension tests and students’ reading motivation questionnaires. T-test analysis was used to analyze the data. The findings of this study indicated that (1) Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy have a significant effect on students' reading comprehension compared to conventional strategy commonly used by teacher in teaching reading, (2) Students with high reading motivation taught by Think Pair Share (TPS) Strategy has a better reading comprehension compared to what is taught with conventional strategy (3) Students with low reading motivation taught by Think Pair Share (TPS) Strategy were better than students taught with conventional strategy. Training of English Language and Mangrove Management for Youth Empowerment in Mangrove Tourism Object Development Karang taruna is a youth organization in a village. This community service program was aimed to train Karang Taruna member in Sumber Jaya Village, Kota Bengkulu speaking English which can be used to guide foreign tourists and and to educate them about mangroves and its management for ecotourism activities. The activity was carried out in three stages: 1) the preparation; 2) the planning; 3) the implementation stage. In the third stage, an evaluation was carried out through the practice of speaking English and distributing questionnaires about English language skills and knowledge about mangroves. After the service activities were carried out, the results showed that the participants: 1) 100% understood how to greet and introduce in English; 2) 90% could explain the information about interest place in English; 3) 90% could ask and answer in English; 4) 100% could explain about tourism object in English; 5) 100% could explain about the rules of travel in English; 6) 100% could answer about tourism object; 7) 100% could convey likes and dislikes; 8) 100% could hosting; 9) 90% could explain how to make organic fertilizers; 10) 90% could explain the making of handicrafts; 11) 100% understood the function, potential and types of mangrove forests; 12) 90% knew the tourism management based on mangrove conservation; 13) 90% understood maintenance and improvement of mangrove quality; 14) 100% understood management through tourism diversification; 15) 90% understood mangrove tourism infrastructure; 16) 100% understood the potential of mangroves that can be processed into souvenirs. The results of the service can be concluded that the Karang Taruna members have understood about English language technique specifically to tour guide and had an understanding of mangroves.
