Abstract

Sumedang Selatan Subdistrict is one of the subdistricts in Sumedang Regency, West Java, which has had many landslide incidents. This is the main reason for the need for landslide disaster mitigation. The first step in landslide disaster mitigation is mathematical modeling as an early warning system. This study aims to model the mathematical equation for the slope safety factor (FK) in Sumedang Selatan Subdistrict based on rainfall data and slope inclination. The mathematical equation used is the Bowles 1996 slope safety factor (FK) equation. The data used are daily rainfall data from 2024 and slope inclination data (DEMNAS) from 2021. The results obtained are graphs of rainfall (P) and slope inclination (θ) against the slope safety factor (FK). The critical point was identified at a daily rainfall of 110 mm and a slope inclination 35°. Rainfall and slope inclination have a negative correlation with the slope safety factor.

Abstract

Every year, the paint industry in Indonesia continues to grow. This is due to the growth of the property and housing sectors, which increases the demand for paint nationwide. This research aims to develop environmentally friendly wall paint using betacyanin pigment from red beet tubers through a maceration process as an alternative paint color that is sustainable and beneficial for health and the environment. Betacyanin pigment extraction was carried out using the maceration method with 96% ethanol for 48 hours, then filtered using filter paper and evaporated. Binder and pigment are mixed in a ratio of 14.3:2, 14.3:5, 14.3:8, 14.3:11, 14.3:14, and 14.3:17 until homogeneous. Paint characterization is done through pH, color, density, and adhesion tests. The research results show that the sixth paint variation, with a binder and pigment composition ratio of 14.3 ml:17 ml, provides the most optimal results that closely align with SNI. The paint has a deep red color, pH 7.6, density of 1.18 g/cm³, and adhesion of 100%.

Abstract

Eyeliner is a decorative cosmetic or make-up product. Eyeliner functions to help emphasize and make the shape of the eyes more prominent and more expressive, make makeup more dramatic without doing many steps, and cover the false eyelash line that sticks to the eyes. This study aims to determine whether activated carbon from coconut shell waste can be used as a natural dye in eyeliner fabrication. This research uses a laboratory experiment method, namely by mixing materials consisting of distilled water, xanthan gum, tween 80, propylene glycol, methylparaben, CH_3 COOH solution with distilled water, ethanol, and carbon pigments in it. Xanthan gum and carbon are mixed in a ratio of 1:10; 1:12; 1:14; 1:16; 1:8; and 1:20 until homogeneous.  Fabrication properties were tested, namely homogeneity, pH, drying time, and color tests on eyeliner fabrication. the results were analyzed descriptively. Based on the results obtained, the six fabricated formulations have a deep black color and have an average particle size of 8.1 µm, have an average pH of 6.3, an average drying time of 303 seconds, the six formulations have an evil Minister color, After Dark, Deep Forest chocolate, Holy Crow, Smoked black coffee, Indigo brown ink. It was concluded that pigments from coconut shell carbon can be used as natural dyes in eyeliner fabrication. However, in the physical properties test, namely the homogeneity test and dry time test for eyeliner fabrication, there are still discrepancies in the literature.

Abstract

Swell didominasi kategori tenang (0,1–0,5 m) sepanjang tahun, mengikuti perubahan arah monsun. Simpulan, korelasi antara kecepatan angin dan tinggi gelombang menunjukkan hubungan lemah (r = 0,36), menandakan adanya pengaruh faktor lain seperti arus laut dan swell regional.   Kata Kunci: Gelombang Signifikan, Selat Makassar, Swell, SWAN, Monsun.

Abstract

The economic potential of mangroves can be a provider of economic resources, preserving the ecological environment and providing environmental services. Mangrove soil in Kuala Langsa is important to study as the potential for carbon sequestration in the form of biomass, the social potential of the community in supporting the development of efforts. The purpose of this study was to determine how much electricity was generated by the Kuala Langsa mangrove mud soil and how the effect of variations in electrode material on the electricity produced by the Langsa mangrove mud soil. The method used is to use a series of voltaic cells. The results of this study obtained data that mangrove mud soil can be used as alternative energy by using variations of Cu-Zn and Cu-Al electrode pairs with a mangrove mud mass of 350 ml, at Cu-Zn electrode pairs the largest electric power obtained is 0,8736 J/s. with the lamp on while the Cu-Al electrode pair obtained an electric power of 0,1794 J/s with the lamp not lit

Abstract

This study aims to examine the potential of local SiO₂ material synthesized from water hyacinth biomass waste as a candidate for semiconductor materials. Synthesis was carried out through a calcination process at temperatures above 600 °C to remove cellulose, lignin, and other impurities. Material characterization was carried out using UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and Raman Spectroscopy. The results of UV-Vis spectroscopy showed that the water hyacinth derived SiO₂ exhibited an unusually reduced optical band gap of approximately 2.3 eV, likely influenced by impurity phases.. XRD tests indicated the presence of two crystal phases, namely the trigonal structure of SiO₂ and the monoclinic structure of the CaH₁₂O₁₇Si₂U₂ compound. Raman analysis confirmed the presence of functional groups such as Si, amorphous SiO2, CH₂/CH₃ and vibration signals from irregular sp² carbon. This combination of structures is thought to cause a lower band gap value compared to pure SiO₂. This finding indicates that SiO₂ from water hyacinth has potential as an intermediate semiconductor material, although further purification is still needed to increase the purity of the SiO₂ phase.
