Abstract

Unstable Fluctuation in the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar can be affectedby domestic and global economic conditions. The condition of these macroeconomic factorscan make the exchange rate depreciate or appreciate. The model in this study uses a Vector Auto Regression-Vector Error Correction Mode(VAR-VECM) to see the effect of short and long term and the surprise of each variable on theresponse period January 2014 to December 2018.Based on the hypothesis's result, the VAR-VECM model shows in the long run thatexports have significance and foreign interest rates have a significant and negative effect onthe rupiah exchange rate against the dollar. At the same time, other inflation variables do nothave a substantial and positive impact on the rupiah exchange rate against the dollar. In theshort term, only the variable rupiah exchange rate variable against the dollar is significant toitself in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th lags, the imported variable in the 3rd lag, and the foreign interestvariable in the 5th lag. At the same time, other variables do not have a significant effect in theshort term.Based on the highest Response Impulse analysis, the rupiah exchange rate response tothe dollar shows an overall positive response and will be relatively stable at around 0,12%.The next highest answer is that inflation shows a positive response and will be relativelystable at about 0,07%. The export response was relatively stable in the range of 0,10% butshowed a negative response. Then the import response shows a negative and will berelatively stable at around 0,01%. The last reply to foreign interest rates showed a postivereaction and was relatively stable at about 0,01%.Based on the analysis Variance Decomposition, the most significant contribution to thevariable exchange rate of the rupiah against the US dollar is the variance of the rupiahexchange rate against itself, followed by the second-largest gift, namely inflation, followed bythe conflict of exports, imports, and foreign interest rates respectively.

Abstract

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems play a crucial role in coastal protection, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation. However, their degradation due to deforestation, land conversion, and pollution remains a significant challenge. This study proposes a mangrove conservation model based on the Penta helix approach, which integrates the collaboration of five key stakeholders: government, private sector, academia, community, and media. The model emphasizes a multi-stakeholder synergy to enhance policy implementation, sustainable economic incentives, scientific research, local engagement, and public awareness. Through qualitative analysis and case studies, this research identifies challenges such as regulatory gaps, conflicting interests, and limited community participation. The findings suggest that a well-coordinated Pentahelix framework can strengthen conservation efforts, promote sustainable livelihoods, and improve mangrove ecosystem resilience. The study concludes that effective governance, corporate responsibility, scientific contributions, community empowerment, and media advocacy are essential for the long-term sustainability of mangrove conservation.

Abstract

The area of mangrove ecosystems in West Nusa Tenggara Province continues to decline each year. One of the threatening factors that substantially contribute to such condition is socioeconomic activities of human beings in fulfilling their needs. An effort that can be made primarily to preserve the mangrove ecosystem is to quantify the economic value of environmental services provided by the mangrove ecosystem as a whole, so that the existence and sustainability of the mangrove ecosystem could be maintained. This research aims to calculate the total economic value of mangrove ecosystem services which indicate the four categories of ecosystem services including supporting services, provisioning services, regulatory services and cultural services. The research was carried out using a survey method by collecting data and information from location of this study to obtain actual data regarding the existence of the mangrove ecosystem. The results of the analysis show that the total economic value of mangrove ecosystem environmental services is 963,888,060/year. This value is divided into provider services (supply services) amounting to Rp. 153,002,250, regulatory services (arrangement services) Rp. 598,339,702, supporting services (support services) Rp. 2,243,250, and cultural services (cultural services) Rp. 210,308,857. The magnitude of the total economic value of mangrove ecosystem environmental services can be a reference for the government in determining compensation for services if there is degradation to mangrove ecosystem resources in the area.
