Abstract

Background: In 2015, the government of Indonesia launched a crop insurance program to anticipate the economic impact of crop failure on farmers due to the climate crisis. Despite the government's high premium subsidy, farmers' participation rate in crop insurance remains very low. Therefore, a study is needed to determine which product attributes in an agricultural insurance product are important to farmers and can affect their participation rate. Purpose: This study aims to investigate the factors that farmers consider when selecting a crop insurance product. Design/methodology/approach: The study focuses on the features of the Rice Farm Insurance (AUTP) product: total sum insured, product type, premium, risk coverage, and claim. The research was conducted by sending questionnaires to 110 farmers in 15 villages in Sliyeg, Indramayu. The Bayesian Best-Worst Method was used to analyze the data. Using a scale from 1 to 9, the best and worst criteria are compared pairwise.Findings/Result: The findings indicated that the total sum insured is the most crucial consideration for farmers when choosing a crop insurance product, followed by the premium, risk coverage, terms of claims, and product type. The top two positions of the product attributes are finance-related, indicating a need for improved understanding of agricultural risk management among farmers, extending beyond dollar amount, through continuous education. With the findings in this study, the government and other stakeholders need to develop effective strategies to increase farmers' awareness of the importance of insurance in managing their business risks. This study's added value comes from convincingly showing that farmers prioritize the amount of sum insured over premiums and other aspects. Other researchers can use this research as a springboard to learn more about the importance of product attributes in creating crop insurance products. Conclusion: The top two positions of the product attributes are finance-related, indicating a need for improved understanding of agricultural risk management among farmers, extending beyond dollar amount, through continuous education. With the findings in this study, the government and other stakeholders need to develop effective strategies to increase farmers' awareness of the importance of insurance in managing their business risks.Originality/value (State of the art): This study's added value comes from its convincingly showing that farmers prioritize the amount of sum insured over premiums and other aspects. Other researchers can use this research as a springboard to learn more about the importance of product attributes in creating crop insurance products. Abstract

Our goal was to investigate the effects of international development banks' foreign exchange loan-funded transportation projects. We examined the effects and efficacy of Indonesia's transport loan projects, which were supported by the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to achieve this, 67 projects of $8.85 billion in value were undertaken between 1972 and 2020. This study is significant because it is the first in the history of development assistance—after 100 years—that is based entirely on banking theories and practices, employing attribution techniques and presuming that all loans will be disbursed into Indonesia's economy. Nevertheless, the effectiveness narratives are untrue because—after being converted into Rupiah—less than 10% of the loan fund made it to Indonesia's economy. According to our analysis, the loans from both banks decreased growth by 200% and increased poverty by 220%, even if they were successful in providing jobs. The disbursement delays of five to seven years result in capital outflows of more than $26 for every $1 loan. Fixing this necessitates a 100% payout in Rupiah into Indonesia's national banking systems the same year that the loan agreements are executed.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

In addition to premium subsidies, Indonesia's government implements other intervention programs as a stimulus to boost farmers’ participation in Rice Farmers Business Insurance (AUTP). Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of the government intervention program in 2019 that requires participation in AUTP as a prerequisite for redeeming subsidized fertilizer. This study also aimed to ascertain the socioeconomic factors that influence farmers to participate. Meanwhile, primary data were obtained through questionnaires distributed from March 23 to April 6, 2020, and completed by 103 farmers in 14 villages in Sliyeg, Indramayu. The data were analyzed with McNemar Test to determine the effect of farmers’ participation in AUTP when the government intervention program was implemented and terminated. Furthermore, Logistic Regression Analysis is used to ascertain the socioeconomic factors that influence farmers to participate. The result showed that the program affects their participation in AUTP. This level is higher when the program is enforced and decreased when terminated. The socio-economics variables that influenced farmers to participate in AUTP when implemented in the government program are land ownership status and land size, while only land size influenced them when terminated. Abstract

Research originality: Women tend to be chosen as the non-labor force, even though they are potential workers who can contribute directly to the economy. Their level of education influences this contribution.   Research objectives: This research examined the impact of female labor force participation on regional economic and income convergence. Research methods: Pooled Least Squares (PLS) and panel data estimation were conducted using cross-sectional data on 472 cities/districts across Indonesia between 2016 and 2022. Empirical result: The findings reveal that female labor force participation significantly enhances regional economic growth only when women have at least a senior high school education. However, their contribution to accelerating economic convergence remains suboptimal, as most female workers are elementary school graduates. Implications: To improve the contribution of the female workforce to the economy, the government should extend compulsory education from 9 to 12 years, expand access to non-formal education for women, and establish a female-friendly labor market through job flexibility and improved childcare access. Abstract

The initial objective of the Pre-Employment Card (Program KP) is to improve skills and prepare the workforce to be able to compete in the world of work. With the Covid-19 pandemic, the goal is to help people affected by the pandemic and reduce unemployment. After a year of implementing this program, it is necessary to conduct an analysis that aims to determine public sentiment towards the program and analyze the factors that influence a person's decision to register. Data from Drone Emprit Academic Open, Sakernas and the logit method were used to answer the objectives. The results show that the community gives negative sentiments related to the type of training and requirements. The factors that influence a person's decision to apply are the number of hours worked, income, age, training, job status, using the internet. Other factors are preparing for a new business, changes in income and working hours, and education level. The negative sentiment still arises in several issues related to the type of training and enrollment. PMO needs to improve how information is disseminated on requirements and registration. The training can be cheaper to allow more training attended and reach more recipients within the available budget.

Abstract

People's Business Credit (KUR) is a credit scheme intended for farmers since 2000. The availability of credit for business actors is used to increase capital. However, not all credit obtained can be categorized as effective. Credit is effective if farmers can receive benefits from the disbursement and use of credit to meet farming activities, and one of which is increasing productivity.. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of KUR for sugarcane farmers in West Java Province. This research uses a quantitative descriptive analysis method using scoring. The results showed that the average score of timely credit effectiveness was 103%.. The timeliness score is greater than 100%, meaning that the average credit is on time. Credit is already available before farmers start farming, so that on average, all farming activities can be carried out on time, except for the procurement of fertilizer and cultivation costs. The average accuracy of the amount of credit with the realization of expenditure is 85%, below 100%. This means that credit for the procurement of inputs and farming activities is still not effective, especially for the amount of fertilizer and herbicides. The level of effectiveness of sugarcane farmer credit is at a score of 87.3% to 106.1%, with an average farmer credit effectiveness rate of 94%.  This means that, on average, farmers have credit that is ineffective. Most farmers are late in receiving credit disbursements, and the amount of credit received is less than their farming needs.
