Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi jenis kesalahan tata bahasa yang dihasilkan oleh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Pematang Siantar saat menulis teks deskriptif. Desain penelitian deskriptif kualitatif digunakan untuk penelitian ini. Data untuk penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi, dan instrumen penelitian adalah tes tertulis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tulisan siswa tentang teks deskriptif memiliki kesalahan tata bahasa. Jenis kesalahannya adalah omission, overinclusion, missselection, misordering, dan blend error. Kesalahan tata bahasa disebabkan oleh kesalahan interlingual dan intralingual. Generalisasi yang berlebihan, ketidaktahuan tentang batasan aturan, penerapan aturan yang tidak lengkap, dan konsep yang dihipotesiskan salah adalah contoh kesalahan intralingual.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi penggunaan video animasi untuk mengajarkan pemahaman membaca pada siswa kelas tujuh di SMP Negeri 10 Pematang Siantar. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kuantitatif dan bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media terhadap kinerja siswa. Sampel terdiri dari 50 siswa, dengan 25 di kelompok eksperimen dan 25 di kelompok kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata post test kelompok eksperimen adalah 76,60, sedangkan kelompok kontrol memiliki nilai rata-rata 68,40. T-test lebih tinggi dari T-tabel (2,7 > 1,677) pada tingkat signifikansi 5%, menunjukkan pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan video animasi pada pemahaman membaca. Temuan ini menunjukkan keefektifan video animasi sebagai alat pengajaran untuk meningkatkan pemahaman membaca pada siswa kelas tujuh di SMP Negeri 10 Pematang Siantar.

Abstract

Socialization of free tutoring activities is one of the efforts to accelerate the education acceleration program so that national education goals can be achieved. The socialization of this free tutoring activity was carried out by a team of volunteers from University of HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar with students at the elementary level located at UPTD SD Negeri 122358 Pematang Siantar. The purpose of this activity is to find out problems related to learning after the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact if character-based thematic learning programs with free tutoring are implemented. From the results of this training activity it was known that the enthusiasm of the students was very pleasant because they received free tutoring that they had never enjoyed before. This activity develops student motivation at school. The biggest hope of the students and teachers and leaders at the school is that this activity program can be sustainable so that it can help students.

Abstract

This research aims to see the effect of using the Question-Answer Relationship (QAR) strategy on the ability of eleventh grade students in reading comprehension of narrative texts at SMA Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar. In this study, researchers used a method called quasi-experimental design, which allows researchers to collect numerical data. The population is all class XI students of SMA Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar for the 2023/2024 academic year, totaling 10 classes. The number of students in each class varies, so the total is 360 students. This research sampling involved two classes, namely XI PMIA-1 and XI PMIA-3. Data analysis shows that the experimental class obtained an average post-test score of 86.52, compared to the control class's average score of 80.13. The post-test standard deviation for the experimental class was 6.95, while the control class had a standard deviation of 3.77. Additionally, the standard error of the mean difference was calculated as 3.22. With a significance level of 5%, the T-count value exceeds the T-table value (1.8 > 1.672), so it can be concluded that the T-count is greater than the T-table. This also shows that (Ho) is rejected and (Ha) is accepted.

Abstract

The research aims to find out the effect of Ice Cream Stick Media to improve students’ ability in reading comprehension of descriptive text at SMP Negeri 2 Pematang Siantar. This research is quantitative research with quasi experimental research design, according to Ary, et al (2010:426) quantitative research is research that gathers numeric data through control procedures and analyses to answer predetermined questions or test hypothesis. The population is the grade eight of SMP Negeri 2 Pematang Siantar with a total of 344 students. The sample of this research is divided into two classes namely experimental class (VIII-7) consist of 30 students that use Ice Cream Stick Media and control class (VIII-6) consist of 30 students that use conventional strategy. The data collection instrument uses a multiple choice for pre-test and post-test. The research finds that the mean of post-test in experimental class is 73.1 and the mean of post-test in control class is 65. After that the researcher find that the ttest is higher than ttable (2.066 > 1.672) at the level significance is 5%. Based on the result finding Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that use Ice Cream Stick Media significantly affects the students’ ability at SMP Negeri 2 Pematang Siantar in reading comprehension of descriptive text.

Abstract

The Effect of Using YouTube On Students’ Vocabulary Mastery Grade Nine at SMP Negeri 4 Pematang Siantar in 2023/2024 Academic Year. The aim of this research is to find out the effect of using YouTube on Students' Vocabulary Mastery Grade Nine at SMP Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar. This research used quantitative research method with quasi-experimental design. The population were grade nine students at SMP Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar. The researcher used two classes were 31 students both of class as sample, where one class was as the experimental class and the other one was the control class. Class IX-9 was the experimental class and class IX-10 was the control class. The instrument for collecting the data was 20 multiple choice tests. The data were analyzed by applying the T-test. It is found that the T-test 1,8 is higher than the T-table 1,671 at the level of significance 5% for two tailed test, so the null hypothesis (HO) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This means that using YouTube develops students' vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Pembelajaran tematik dengan system layanan bimbingan belajar gratis merupakan salah satu upaya percepatan program percepatan pendidikan di desa tertinggal agar tujuan pendidikan nasional dapat tercapai. Pelatihan Pembelajaran Tematik ini dilakukan oleh tim pengabdi dari Universitas HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar bersama mahasiswa dengan sistem layanan bimbingan gratis di tingkat SD yang berlokasi di SD Negeri 091299 Sipoldas Kecamatan Panei, Kabupaten Simalungun. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk mengetahui permasalahan terkait pembelajaran setelah masa pandemi covid-19 dan dampaknya jika program pembelajaran tematik dengan system layanan bimbingan belajar gratis dilaksanakan. Dari hasil kegiatan pelatihan ini diketahui antusiasme siswa sangat menyenangkan karena mendapatkan layanan bimbingan belajar gratis yang belum pernah mereka nikmati sebelumnya. Kegiatan ini mengembangkan motivasi siswa di sekolah. Harapan terbesar para siswa dan guru-guru dan pimpinan di sekolah tersebut adalah agar program kegiatan ini dapat berkelanjutan sehingga dapat membantu para peserta didik secara khusus yang berada dalam wilayah desa tertinggal

Abstract

This research aiming to find out whether the use of roundtable technique can significantly improve the grade eight Students’ ability in writing descriptive at SMP Swasta Taman Asuhan. This research used assessment rubric which consisted of 5 aspects: Content, Organization, Vocabulary, Language use and Mechanism. By using quasi-experimental design, the research involved the grade eight students of SMP Swasta Taman Asuhan Pematang Siantar in the academic year 2023/2024 with total of 64 students. In this case, the experimental class was VIII-3 that consisted of 22 students and the control class was VIII-2 that consisted of 22 students. This research used purposive sampling technique. This research used writing test as instrument to collect the data for pre-test and post-test. The result showed that mean score of the experimental class increased from 50.55 to 61.55 after applied the treatment (Roundtable Technique). Mean scores in control class were from 45.85 to 50.55. The T-test computation revealed that there was a significant difference between two classes by used significance 0.05. It was proven that T-test was 1.92 and T-table was 1.68595, which was found that t-value was higher that T-table (1.92>1.68595). Based on the findings, Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that Roundtable Technique is proven as an effective technique that significantly improves the grade eight students’ ability in writing descriptive at SMP Swasta Taman Asuhan.

Abstract

The objectives of this research was find out whether the using scramble game to develop English vocabulary of grade seven students at SMP Negeri 1 Pematangsiantar. This research used quantitative research with a quasi-experimental research design. The population of this study was the VII grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Pematangsiantar with a total of 352 students. The sample of this study was divided into two classes, class VII-7 as the control class consisting of 32 students who used the conventional media and class VII-8 as the experimental class consisting of 32 students who used scramble game. Data collection instruments used multiple choice for pre-test and post-test. The data analysis technique used in this research is SPSS version 21, by conducting normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis test. In the post-test results for the experimental class, the average was 79.68, while in the control class the average was 74.53. Based on the hypothesis test using an independent test, it shows a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.016 < 0.05, then Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of scramble game can improve the English vocabulary of grade seven students at SMP Negeri 1 Pematangsiantar.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out whether there is a significant effect of using the audio-lingual method on the listening comprehension of tenth grade students at Nommensen Private High School, Pematang Siantar Campus. In addition, the aim of this research is to make teachers consider appropriate methods that they can implement in the classroom to teach students about listening comprehension. Therefore, teachers must pay attention to the appropriate methods that can be used to achieve maximum listening comprehension indicators. Another aim of this research is to help students understand listening comprehension material using the Audio Lingual Method and to entertain them with various ways of teaching in the learning process by providing them with music or other educational entertainment to increase their motivation in learning and creating. they are interested in listening to the material to achieve good habits from the learning process in the classroom which is the main goal of the Audio-Lingual Method. This research is quantitative research with the form of an experimental design. This research involves two variables; there is an independent variable, namely the Audio Lingual Method (X) and a dependent variable, namely students' listening comprehension (Y). In this research, the researcher used a purposive sampling technique to select the sample, and decided class X-3 as the Experiment Class and X2 as the Control Class to be the sample for this research where the number of students in the class was 30 students. Researchers also use research instruments which are divided into two instruments, namely instrument blueprints and instrument calibration. Researchers use tests, observation, and documentation as data collection methods. After calculating the average and standard deviation of the two classes, the researcher uses the t-test formula, the results of the t-test must be higher than the t-table with a significance level of 5% (2.265 > 1.680). Based on the research findings, the researcher concluded that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. So, it can be concluded that the use of the audio lingual method influences the listening comprehension of tenth grade students.
