Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the types of figures of speech used in online political news on the CNN Indonesia website and to analyze their relevance as learning resources and Indonesian language teaching modules for ninth-grade junior high school speech students in accordance with the Merdeka Curriculum. The main problem in this study is the forms of figurative language use in CNN Indonesia's online political news and how this relates to the development of speech teaching materials. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a content analysis approach to deeply understand the phenomenon of figurative language use in news texts and its potential in educational contexts. Data collection techniques were carried out through reading, recording, and archiving online political news containing elements of figurative language. The results show that CNN Indonesia's political news contains various figures of speech (figurative comparison) and satire, including two hyperboles, six metaphors, one periphrase, one irony, one symbolic figure of speech, and one allegory. These findings indicate a richness of language styles in political news that can be utilized to develop students' language skills. A deep understanding of this figure of speech is essential in helping students critically interpret news texts and construct communicative speeches. Therefore, CNN Indonesia's online news, rich in figures of speech, is considered relevant as teaching material for Indonesian language learning in ninth-grade junior high school students within the Merdeka Curriculum framework.

Abstract

Language functions not only as a means of communication but also as a persuasive and expressive tool capable of influencing people's mindsets and attitudes. One powerful manifestation of language utilization is in demonstration posters, which are often imbued with denotative and connotative meanings. This study aims to analyze these types of meanings in a demonstration poster titled "Dark Indonesia" that went viral on social media in February 2025. The approach used was qualitative with descriptive methods, where data from 15 posters were analyzed based on Abdul Chaer's semantic theory. The results showed that 10 posters contained connotative meanings, while the other 5 contained denotative ones. Connotative meanings tend to be used to convey social criticism emotionally and persuasively, while denotative meanings emphasize straightforward presentation of facts. These findings indicate that demonstration posters function not only as a medium for criticism but also have potential as contextual teaching materials in Indonesian language learning, particularly in writing argumentative texts in grade 11. Therefore, the results of this study are relevant in the form of teaching materials to improve students' critical thinking and argumentative skills through language analysis in real contexts.

Abstract

The research has a psychological background that the people experience, namely emotional control. This problem is related to the psychology of the characters in the short About Us and the Sea by Yetti A.KA., especially the emotions that dominate the female characters. Researchers used qualitative descriptive methods referring to literary psychology. Data collection techniques include listening, taking notes and a literature study process. Next, the data is analyzed by collecting, reducing, presenting and drawing conclusions. The results of this research found that from the three short stories analyzed there were 32 character emotional data consisting of 12 basic emotions, 10 emotions related to sensory stimulation, 6 emotions related to self-assessment, and 4 emotions related to other people. There is complete emotional data obtained from the three short stories. The emotions that character often feel are basic emotions with feelings of happiness and sadness dominating.

Abstract

Heritage studies often struggle to move beyond descriptive cataloguing toward interpretive frameworks that reveal how artifacts encode cultural meaning. This study applies semantic field theory—originally developed for linguistics—to the collections of the Candi Jiwa Museum in West Java, Indonesia. Through qualitative analysis of artifacts and contextual materials, nine semantic domains were identified, including funerary ritual, architectural symbolism, environmental adaptation, domestic–sacred convergence, and symbolic economy. These findings demonstrate that artifacts function not as inert remnants but as interconnected semiotic systems that sustain continuity, cosmology, and identity values. The study advances two key contributions. Theoretically, it extends semantic field analysis into material culture, showing how objects can be decoded as networks of meaning without reducing their contextual richness. Practically, it repositions museums as pedagogical mediators that engage youth through interpretive dialogue rather than passive display. The results challenge conventional heritage discourse that privileges the authenticity of objects, arguing instead for preservation of semiotic systems as the true foundation of cultural sustainability.

Abstract

Pada penelitian ini berujuan untuk mendeskripsikan antonimi atau oposisi makna pada debat pilkada calon bupati Karawang dan implementasi terhadap bahan ajar teks debat. Antonimi secara semantik mendefinisikan sebagai ungkapan yang maknanya dianggapan kebalikan dari makna ungkapan lain. Dalam dalam penelitian ini adalah berupa kata-kata dan kutipan yang terdapat dalam debat. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik simak bebas libat cakap dan teknik catat. Hasil penelitian ini sebagai berikut. (1) antonimi atau oposisi mutlak (2) antonimi atau oposisi kutub (3) antonimi atau oposisi hubungan (4) antonimi atau oposisi hierarkial (5) antonimi atau oposisi majemuk, serta bahan ajar berupa modul.

Abstract

Podcast menjadi salah satu sarana pengembangan dan bukti minat masyarakat untuk berkreasi. Salah satu podcast audio yang hadir di aplikasi streaming music Spotify adalah podcast “Menjadi Manusia”. Sebagian besar tema yang diangkat yakni perihal membangun kepercayaan dan motivasi diri. Mendengarkan podcast dapat menjadi alternatif media mengenali masalah kesehatan mental. Isu yang dibahas dalam podcast “Menjadi Manusia” ini berpotensi memberikan efek atau pengaruh terhadap kondisi mental dan tindakan pendengar setelah mendengarkan podcast tersebut. Tujuan penelitian adalah mendeskripsikan makna dan bentuk-bentuk tindak tutur lokusi, ilokusi, dan perlokusi dalam lima episode podcast “Menjadi Manusia” yang dipublikasikan pada Desember 2020 – Februari 2021. Pendekatan dan metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam lima podcast Menjadi Manusia ditemukan 27 fungsi tindak tutur yang terdiri dari 9 asertif, 6 direktif, 1 komisif, 11 ekspresif, dan 1 deklaratif.

Abstract

Teks prosedur merupakan jenis teks yang memuat informasi faktual tentang tahapan atau cara melakukan sesuatu secara detail dan jelas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu, mendeskripsikan struktur teks prosedur panduan cara dalam aplikasi Lemon8. Penelitian ini mengadopsi pendekatan kualitatif dengan memanfaatkan metode deskriptif kualitatif karena data yang dianalisis akan berupa narasi atau kata-kata, sehingga penelitian ini akan menghasilkan temuan yang disajikan dalam bentuk deskripsi. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu resep masakan yang berjudul “Menu Mewah Ala Resto Italy!! 10 Menit Jadi”. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan melalui tiga cara yaitu, teknik dokumen, teknik baca dan teknik catat, dengan  instrumen penelitian yakni peneliti sendiri serta terdapat instrumen lainnya yaitu kisi-kisi pedoman analisis struktur teks prosedur panduan cara membuat dari teori kemendikbud (2017). Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu resep masakan yang berjudul “Menu Mewah Ala Resto Italy!! 10 Menit Jadi” telah memenuhi kriteria struktur teks prosedur cara membuat menurut teori kemendikbud (2017). Hal tersebut dapat dibuktikan dengan adanya kelengkapan dari keseluruhan struktur teks prosedur cara membuat dari struktur tujuan, struktur bahan/alat, struktur langkah/tahapan, sampai struktur penutup/kesimpulan.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problems that researchers find in the field low interest and knowledge of students in learning to write descriptive texts. This is due to the lack of application of a unique and interesting learning model, so that it can make it easier for students to learn activities. This study aims to prove the influence of the Prediction Guide learning model on learning to write descriptive texts at SMPN 228 Jakarta. This study uses a quantitative approach with a pseudo-experimental method of non-equivalent group design research design. The population in this study is SMPN 228 Jakarta with a total of classes VII A to VII H with research samples of classes VII A as the control class and VII B as an experimental class with a total of 36 students in each class. The data collection technique uses test instruments with the help of data processing using SPSS software version 27. The results of the study were obtained that the average score of the experimental class was 66 pretest while 81 posttest. This proves that there is an increase in the results of scores in the experimental class where the Prediction Guide learning model is applied. The normality test as a prerequisite for the parametric test was then obtained abnormal data at 0.049 pretest of the control class and 0.042 posttest of the experimental class, while normal data at 0.050 posttest of the control class and 0.102 pretest of the experimental class. Then, the homogeneity test obtained a value of 0.977 for the control class and 0.819 for the experimental class, the data was declared homogeneous. The Mann-Whitney test obtained a significance value 0.003 < 0.05 until H_1 is accepted H_0 rejected. The N-Gain test obtained a value of 0.5232 with the medium category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of the Prediction Guide learning model has an effect on learning to write descriptive texts. .

Abstract

This research is motivated by the facts that occur in the field, namely students are lazy and bored in learning. In addition, there are still many teachers who use conventional learning models, namely lectures without using media in teaching aids. Thus, researchers want to compare the use of Youtube media in learning and not using Youtube media in learning. This study aims to examine differences in improving student learning outcomes in learning negotiating text using YouTube media in learning and by not using Youtube media in learning. To answer the problem formulation, the researcher used a quasi-experimental non-equivalent pre-test post-test control group design method. The population in this study was class X SMKN 1 Klari with purposive sampling and two classes were selected, namely class X MP-1 (N=40) as the experimental class using Youtube media and class X TKJ-1 (N=40) as the experimental class. control using Youtube media. Based on the results of data processing using SPSS 16 Software for Windows, it was concluded that the average pre-test score for the two classes was relatively the same before being given treatment, namely 56 for the experimental class and 55 for the control class. Then the post-test score for the experimental class was 86 and the control class was 67. Furthermore, the N-gain score for the experimental class was 0.681, which means that there was a change before and after using Youtube media with moderate interpretation in learning negotiating text for class X students of SMKN 1 Klari. Whereas for the control class the N-Gain score showed a result of 0.681, which means that there were changes before and after using the lecture model without Youtube with low interpretation in learning negotiating text for class X students of SMKN 1 Klari. This means that the use of Youtube media is better than the lecture learning model without Youtube and there are significant differences in the learning outcomes of class X students at SMKN 1 Klari.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of the Nature Learning model in the ability to write poetry texts in class VIII students at MTsN 4 Karawang. In this learning context, students need to understand the elements involved in composing poetry. This research attempts to apply the Nature Learning learning model in learning to write poetry for Grade VIII students at MTsN 4 Karawang. This research method is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design. The population of this study were all students of class VIII at MTsN 4 Karawang, and the sample was selected using a random sampling method, with two classes selected: class VIII A as the control group and class VIII C as the experimental group. Data was collected through a poetry writing test. The validity of the instrument was tested using construct validity by consulting experts and trials on students who had studied pantun material at Rengasdengklok 2 Public Middle School. Data were analyzed using the t-test with a significance level of 5%, after ensuring that the data prerequisites were met (normality test, homogeneity test, and N-gain test using SPSS version 26). The results of data analysis showed that both groups had normal data distribution (significance value > 0.05) and data homogeneity (values > 0.05 for pretext and posttest homogeneity). This study found a significant difference between the control and experimental groups with a significance level of 0.001 <0.05. The Nature Learning learning model has an average N-gain value of 56.17%, indicating a sufficient level of effectiveness in learning to write poetry. The final results of this study indicate that the application of the Nature Learning learning model has a significant difference from the application of conventional models.
