Abstract

Trade Balance is the main indicator in external competitiveness. The condition of the trade balance in Indonesia tends to experience unbalanced conditions every year, so this study aims to see the relationship between the variables of Exchange Rate, FDI and GDP to the Trade Balance in Indonesia. The data used is a time series for 43 years (1980-2022) using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) method to analyze the relationship and response between variables in the term short and long term. Short-term results show that the Exchange Rate, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) do not affect the surplus or deficit of Indonesia's Trade Balance. While in the long run, Exchange Rate appreciation has a negative effect on the Trade Balance, the amount of FDI has a positive impact on the Trade Balance, and the amount of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) affects the deficit in the Trade Balance. The use of monetary policy can help stab ilize exchange rates, increase exports through increased foreign investment, maintain the value of exports, and reduce trade deficits. Rephrase

Abstract

Competition among businesses is becoming increasingly intense to create products that can increase consumer purchase intention, especially in the same industry. This includes what happens to ‘Malangan’ batik products, where challenges must be faced not only with local products but also with products from other countries. This study intends to determine the influence of product innovation, social media marketing, and aesthetic value on customers' purchase intentions toward ‘Malangan’ batik. The study population comprises all ‘Malangan’ batik consumers in Malang city, with an undetermined number of individuals. The accidental sampling technique was used to select respondents and gather data for this study by distributing questionnaires to the final sample size of 180 people. This research uses quantitative methods analyzed with SmartPLS-4.1.0.8. The results of this study found that continuous product innovation, effective implementation of social media marketing, and a strong emphasis on aesthetic value in products are essential strategies for businesses to significantly increase consumer purchase intention. Future studies should consider expanding the scope of the research to include additional variables that may influence consumer purchase intentions regarding ‘Malangan’ batik.

Abstract

Purpose – The research objective was to examine the predominant errand of work engagement (WE) and the physical work environment (PWE) in the development of innovative organizational culture (IOC) by contemplating the mediating factors of innovative work behaviour (IWB) and employee performance (EP).Design/methodology/approach – The research was conducted through a questionnaire survey of all employees of PT. Alzena Skincare Indonesia, 175 people who produced quantitative primary data. Through the PLS-SEM high-level analysis, the validity and reliability of the questionnaire were checked, and each research hypothesis was evaluated in detail.Findings – The research results showed that an ‘IOC’ in a skincare company can be developed, and ‘WE’ is the principal aspect. However, it was still essential for the company to heed the ‘PWE’. The partial mediating role of ‘IWB’ and ‘EP’ accelerated the formation of an ‘IOC’. Meanwhile, serial mediation of ‘IWB’ and ‘EP’ only supported ‘WE’ in building ‘IOC’, not the ‘PWE’.Research limitations/implications – This research was still limited to PT. Alzena Skincare Indonesia employees, so the results cannot be generalized to other types of businesses. Thus, further research is compulsory to test the research model on other objects and look for other factors that can encourage creation of an innovative organizational culture.Practical implications – The practical implication of this research was that skincare company managers need to build ‘IOC’ by strengthening ‘WE’ and improving the ‘PWE’ that supports it. These two factors created ‘IWB’ and improved ‘EP’, ultimately forming an ‘IOC’.Originality/value – It still needed to uncover research that examined the effect of ‘WE’ and the ‘PWE’ on ‘IOC’, especially if it was serially mediated by ‘IWB’ and ‘EP’. So, the complex model was the main novelty of this study.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to examine the relationships between various variables in the context of startup companies in Indonesia. The study was conducted over the course of one academic year, specifically 2022/2023, within a startup company in Indonesia. A sample of 270 respondents was randomly selected from the target population. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed as the analytical technique. The t-test results indicated a positive influence of perceived e-leadership on teleworking output, subsequently impacting employee adaptive performance. Furthermore, transparent communication had a significant positive direct effect on employee adaptive performance, with a path coefficient of 0.286 (positive) and a p-value of 0.001-0.005 (significant). These findings highlight the importance of transparent communication in enhancing employee adaptive performance. The results have practical implications for decision-making processes and can potentially contribute to the development of effective strategies and practices within the industry.

Abstract

The digital transition has instigated substantial alterations in the publishing sector, necessitating adaptation from all organizational components. This research seeks to examine the mediating function of supervisory trust in the link between stewardship atmosphere and employee voice at PT. Litera Mediatama, Malang. The study population consisted of all 49 workers of the organization, using a saturation sample approach. Data were gathered using surveys and processed with SmartPLS 4.1.0.8. The results show that (1) the stewardship climate did not have a meaningful direct effect on employee voice (β=0.098, p>0.05); (2) the stewardship climate had a strong positive effect on trust in supervisors (β=0.914, p<0.001); and (3) trust in supervisors completely mediated the relationship, having a significant indirect effect (β=0.748, p<0.001). The results indicate that confidence in supervisors is essential for converting organizational atmosphere into active employee engagement. The practical consequences encompass (a) establishing leadership training programs centred on transparency, (b) instituting bidirectional feedback mechanisms, and (c) initiatives aimed at enhancing supervisor-subordinate relationships. This research enhances the literature by validating psychological processes (trust) as a conduit between organizational policy and employee behaviour within the creative sector setting. It is advisable to do more research with a more extensive sample size to enhance the external validity of the results.

Abstract

This study is a kind of field research which aims to find out how the relationship between market orientation, product creativity and innovation, competitive advantage and creative industry performance in Malang town, East Java, Indonesia. Data collection on 133 samples of creative entrepreneurs were carried out on a non-probability sampling through a questionnaire instrument. The data obtained were analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. The results of the study show that market orientation has a direct, positive and significant effect on product innovation, competitive advantage, and industry performance. The findings also state that there is an intervening effect of product innovation on the effect of market orientation on competitive advantage and industry performance, there is also an intervening effect on competitive advantage over the effect of market orientation on industry performance. Product creativity has a positive and significant effect on product innovation. However, there is not enough strong evidence to support the hypothesis that product creativity directly or indirectly affects competitive advantage through product innovation, as well as industry performance through competitive advantage. The intervening effect only occurs on the relationship of product creativity with product innovation and industry performance. The managerial implication of the study is that to achieve high industry performance, creative industries need to increase competitive advantage, especially through competitive pricing strategies, improving market orientation, and product innovation.

Abstract

Although many studies investigated the relationship between digital platform capabilities and innovation performance, finding research that simultaneously links the two constructs to holistic empowerment and innovation still needs to be completed. This study examined the relationship between Creative Industry Holistic Empowerment and Digital Platform Capability, Holistic Innovation Capability, and Innovation Performance through a questionnaire survey of 260 creative entrepreneurs in East Java. The results of the PLS-SEM high-level analysis show that the Holistic Empowerment of Creative Industries has a strong impact on digital platform capabilities, and there is a strong partial mediating role of holistic innovation capabilities on the effect of digital platform capabilities on innovation performance. So, it is important for every creative Industry to holistically empower its resources in order to be able to master digital platforms, which ultimately have an impact on innovation and performance. Subsequent research is directed at directly relating the holistic empowerment of the creative Industry to innovation and performance, as well as focusing research subjects on one of the creative economy sub-sectors so that the benefits from research are more striking.
