Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study was aimed at improving the students’ democratic values among the students in higher education institution through a grouped-discussion method. This was trigerred by a lack of understanding on democratic values among the students in the uniersity level. They also indicated less-democratic attitudes and behavior. This was an action reseach study following the model of Stephen Kemmis & Robin McTaggart (1988). The subject of the research was the fourth-semester students at the Study Program of Indonesia and Local Languages Education, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training UMP (Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto) in Central Java, Indonesia. There were 60 students. The action (treatment) given was an application of grouped-discussion in the Civic Education courses. The data collection was through observation from which the results was noted in an observation guide. In addition, it was also done through testing of essay questions and an interview. Two types of data were collected, i.e. qualitative data from document, results of observation, and recorded interview; and the quantitative data were from testing of pre- and post-test. Based on the analysis, it was proved that the democratic values among the students can be improved through grouped-discussion method applied in Civic Education course. Their average learning score was 63.75 before the treatment and it increased to 72.77 after the first cycle. At the end of the second cycle, it became 80.68. Besides, another increase was indicated from their democratic attitude and behavior. They acknowledged that every individual has a freedom of giving his/her opinion, of making a group of organization, and participating in any organization, appreciating citizen and gender equity, and respecting other people’s opinion. KEY WORDS: Democratic values, grouped-discussion, civic education, students, democratic attitude and behavior, and good citizen of Indonesia.About the Author: Eko Priyanto is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training UMP (Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto), Jalan Raya Dukuhwaluh, Purwokerto City, Central Java, Indonesia. Abstract

Abstract

In the era of globalization, national identity poses a unique challenge, particularly for Indonesian diaspora children living far from their homeland. The children at Sanggar Bimbingan Sungai Mulia 5 (SB SM 5) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, are mostly migrant children growing up in environments with minimal exposure to Indonesian culture. This condition risks weakening their emotional connection to national identity and the cultural heritage of Nusantara. This international community service program aims to enhance the national awareness of children aged 10–14 years at SB SM 5 by introducing the cultural heritage of Borobudur Temple as a symbol of national civilization and traditional Javanese games such as cublak-cublak suweng. The methods used include participatory approaches, edutainment, and experiential learning, designed to create an interactive and enjoyable learning experience. The children participated in activities such as visual presentations, storytelling, hands-on traditional games, and reflections on national values. The results demonstrated an increase in knowledge about Borobudur from 10% to 90% and a high level of enthusiasm for traditional games. The children not only gained an understanding of Indonesian culture but also felt a sense of pride and emotional closeness to their homeland. As a follow-up, plans include the development of digital modules, regular cultural classes, and collaboration with diaspora communities to ensure the sustainability of this program. This initiative successfully established an emotional connection between diaspora children and Indonesia's cultural identity, making it a model applicable to other diaspora communities

Abstract

The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into digital retail has reshaped consumer interactions, enabling personalized services and operational enhancements. This study investigates the demographic and behavioral factors influencing consumer satisfaction with AI technologies in digital retail, using the Random Forest classification algorithm for predictive modeling. After comprehensive preprocessing and hyperparameter tuning through grid search cross-validation, the Random Forest model achieved an overall accuracy of 83%. While the model showed strong performance for predicting satisfied consumers yielding a precision of 0.84, recall of 0.97, and F1-score of 0.90, it performed poorly in identifying dissatisfied users, with a recall of only 0.27 and F1-score of 0.39, highlighting a class imbalance issue. Feature importance analysis revealed that experiential factors, particularly enhanced AI experience and preference for online services, significantly influenced satisfaction levels, whereas demographic variables such as age and gender had limited predictive value. These findings emphasize the need for digital retailers to focus on user-centric design and service personalization, rather than demographic segmentation alone, to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty. Furthermore, the study contributes methodologically by demonstrating the effectiveness of Random Forest in handling complex consumer datasets and theoretically by validating TAM and Customer Satisfaction Theory in the context of AI adoption. Despite limitations related to class imbalance and sector-specific data, this research offers actionable insights for retailers, marketers, and system developers aiming to improve AI-driven service quality and consumer engagement. Future studies are encouraged to address these limitations through the inclusion of emotional and contextual variables and by expanding the analysis to other industries for broader applicability.

Abstract

This study explores clustering patterns within Netflix's movie catalog by applying K-means and hierarchical clustering algorithms. The primary objective is to identify distinct content groups based on features such as movie duration, release year, and content ratings. The dataset, which includes 5,185 Movies, was preprocessed by handling missing values, one-hot encoding categorical variables, and standardizing numerical features. Four distinct clusters were identified, with each cluster exhibiting unique characteristics. Cluster 0 primarily consists of longer, family-friendly Movies rated TV-14, while Cluster 1 contains shorter, mature Movies with a TV-MA rating. Cluster 2 represents a diverse range of TV-MA Movies with moderate durations, and Cluster 3 focuses on adult-oriented, longer Movies with an 'R' rating. These findings offer valuable insights into Netflix's content strategy, highlighting the platform's ability to cater to different audience segments based on content type and viewer preferences. The results suggest that Netflix can leverage clustering patterns to improve its recommendation system and content acquisition strategy. However, the study is limited by the absence of user-specific data and the reliance on basic metadata features. Future research could explore the integration of additional features like user ratings and apply deep learning techniques for more sophisticated clustering.
