Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi co-digesti onggok dengan feses sapi perah sebagai substrat pada digeter biogas terhadap nilai pH, produksi metan dan kecernaan bahan organik. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa tidak adanya perbedaan yang nyata (p>0,05) antara perlakuan penggunaan onggok dan feses sapi perah sebagai substrat biogas (T1) dengan feses sapi perah tanpa substitusi dengan onggok (T0) terhadap nilai pH, produksi methan dan kecernaan bahan organik. Nilai pH pada perlakuan T1 sebesar 6,68 dan T0 sebesar 6,86. Produksi metan pada T1 sebesar 204,84 ml/g volatile solid (VS) dan pada T0 sebesar 184,88 ml/g VS. Kecernaan bahan organik pada T1 (29,44%) dan T0 (23,06%). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah substitusi onggok sebesar 5% pada feses sapi perah sebagai substrat biogas dengan bahan baku feses sapi perah tidak memberikan perbedaan terhadap nilai pH, hasil produksi metan dan kecernaan bahan organik. Kata kunci : Biogas, Kecernaan bahan organik, Nilai pH, Onggok, Produksi metan

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan ampas tahu sebagai co-substrat dalam digesti secara anaerob terhadap kecernaan protein, konsentrasi VFA dan total amonia nitrogen. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan dua buah digester kontinyu dan data dikoleksi selama tiga kali hydraulic retention time (HRT), dimana satu kali HRT setara dengan 25 hari. Data yang diperoleh dibahas dengan metode independent sampel comparison dengan membandingkan variabel hasil pengamatan dari digester satu (tanpa ampas tahu) dan digester dua (penambahan 5% ampas tahu) yang keduanya diencerkan menggunakan air dengan perbandingan 1:1. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat adanya perbedaan yang nyata (P<0,05) dari perlakuan yang diterapkan terhadap kecernaan protein, konsentrasi VFA, dan konsentrasi total amonia nitrogen (TAN). Nilai kecernaan protein, konsentrasi VFA dan konsentrasi TAN dari digester 1 dan digester 2 secara berturut turut adalah 36,13% dan 25,71%; 25,39 ml/mol/l dan 11,21 ml/mol/l serta 1959 dan 1675 mg/l. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah konsentrasi VFA dan TAN yang stabil pada konsentrasi yang relatif rendah pada slurry dari digester 2 dipertengahan dan akhir penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa ampas tahu bisa digunakan sebagai co-subtrat pada feses sapi, namun demikian perlu dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut untuk mengevaluasi level ampas tahu yang terbaik untuk meningkatkan produksi biogas dari digester biogas berbasis feses sapi.Utilization of Waste from Tofu as Co-Substrate in Biogas ProductionAbstractThe aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of co-substrate of waste of tofu in anaerobic digestion on protein digestibility, VFA concentration, and total ammonia nitrogen. The protein digestibility, VFA concentration and TAN concentration of digester 1 and digester 2 were 36.13 and 25.71%; 25.39 and 11.21 ml/mol/L; 1959 and 1675 mg/L, respectively. As conclusion, a stabil at low concentration of VFA and TAN in the middle and in the end experiment might be used to indicate that waste from tofu is suitable substrate for co-digestion with cow feses, however a further experiment is needed to obtain optimum level of tofu cake to enhance biogas production of digester biogas base on cow feses.•••

Abstract

The present study was aimed to evaluate the use of ‘Lumpur-bahinol’ (sludge of alcohol industry) as feed for sheep on feed intake, daily gain, and feed conversion ratio. Twelve indigenous rams grouped into three consist of four were used in this study following Completely Randomized Design. Those rams were 8-10 months old, and average weight at 17,15 kg. The rams were raised in individual barn and were fed Napier grass ad libitum and commercial concentrate feed at 2% of body weight. The treatments were substitution of concentrate feed with ‘lumpur-bahinol’ in the rations at various level as follow, K5L0 (concentrate 2% BW+lumpur-bahinol 0% BW), K4L1 (Concentrate 1.6% BW+Lumpur-bahinol 0.4% BW) and K3L2 (concentrate 1.2% BW+Lumpur-bahinol 0.8% BW). These rations were adjusted to fulfill dry matter requirement at 4% BW. The result showed that inclusion of lumpur-bahinol in the ration tend to decrease total DMI (P=0.1105), being 815 and 809 g/d for K4L1 and K3L2m, respectively, compared to K5L0 (890 g/d). Similar tendency was observed in crude protein intake (P=0.1105), being 104,94 dan 92 g/d for K5L0, K4L1 and K3L2, respectively, as well as in gross energy intake (P=0.0999), being 13.3; 11.4 and 10.5 Mj/d, for K5L0, K4L1 and K3L2, respectively. This phenomena was in contrast with the digestibility that tend to increase (P=0.1056) as much as 0.96% (K4L1) and 2.80% (K3L2), respectively, compared to K5L0 (62.97%). Despite of feed intake tended to decrease as increasing lumpur-bahinol in concentrate, but the daily gain tend to be higher (P=0.1171) in K4L1 (65 g/d) and K3L2 (56 g/d) compared to K5L0 (53 g/d). Similar tendency was shown in feed conversion of K4L1 (12.5) and K3L2 (14.5) that better than of K5L0 (16.8). The conclusion of this study was lumpur-bahinol could be used to compose concentrate feeding up to 0.8% of body weight.

Abstract

Soybean meal is a source of protein that is commonly used for animal feed, however, the availability of soybean meal in Indonesia is still dependent on import so it is necessary to find the feed alternative for substitution of soybean meal. The purpose of the research was to evaluate the effect of black soldier fly (BSF) larvae meal for protein source to substitutesoybean meal on New Zealand White rabbit through the excreted ofcreatinine. The research was carried out usinga completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments werea complete feed with 100% soybean meal(T0), acomplete feed with 90% soybean meal + 10% BSFmeal (T1), acomplete feed with 80% soybean meal + 20% BSFmeal(T2), acomplete feed with 70% soybean meal + 30% BSFmeal (T3). The results showed that there was no effect of the BSF mealon the energy comsumption with an average 273.50 kcal/day and creatinine excretion (P> 0.05) with an average of 16.80mg/day atthe 6th week and 22.54 mg/day at the 10th week. Therefore, it can be concluded that theBSF larvae can replace soybean meal in the ration without negative effect on metabolismprotein rate of NZW rabbit. Abstract

Co-substrate of papaya seeds (PS) with dairy cow manure (DCM) resulted an increase of organic matter (OM) content and not all OM could be digested properly in the continuous digester. This research was conducted to measure methane production of slurry that study. The experiment used MSP, BP, NaOH, batch type digester with completely randomized design. The treatments were R1 (100% DCM), R2 (95% DCM and 5% PS non germination) and R3 (95% DCM and 5% PS germination) with 5 replications. Data were analysed using analysis of variance. The observed variables were methane production, pH value, dry matter reduction (DMR) and OM reduction (OMR). Methane production showed significantly different (P<0.05), namely: 5.28; 7.19 and 6.26 l/l for R1, R2 and R3. The limited hydraulic retention time of substrate in continuous digester caused not all of the OM in R2 and R3 to be properly digested and is still left in the slurry. The decrease methane production of R3 than R2 was due to better nutrient content of R2 so that it was digested better while in the continuous digester. The higher DMR, OMR and methane production in R2 and R3 than R1 indicate that the use of BP as a co-substrate with DCM can increase the OM content and its quality and some of OM is still left in the slurry.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the body conditions and body weight loss of male local sheep after transportation from Banjarnegara to Semarang at different times. This study used 22 local rams aged 10 months weighing 17.14 + 1.68 kg (CV= 9.8%). This research used a Completely Randomized Design with two treatments and 11 replications. The treatments were different transportation times consisting of 4 hours (T1) and 6 hours (T2). The parameters used in this study were pulse rate, respiratory rate, and rectal temperature in Banjarnegara (before transportation), Temanggung (during rest), and Semarang (after transportation), as well as body weight loss from male local sheep. The data were analyzed by using a t-test. The results showed that before transportation, the pulse and respiratory rate of T2 rams were higher (P<0.05) than those of T1, however, their body temperatures were relatively the same as the average (35.86 oC). During rest, the pulse rate, respiratory rate, and body temperature of T1 and T2 were relatively the same with an average of 97 times/minute, 57 times/minute and 35.85 oC, respectively. After transportation, the pulse rate of T1 was higher (P<0.05) compared to T2, while the respiratory rate and body temperature of T1 were lower (P<0.05) than those of T2. The body weight of the sheep before and after transportation between T1 and T2 was not significantly different (P>0.05) with an average of 18.33 kg before transportation and  16.80 kg after transportation. The body weight loss of T1 and T2 was about 1.53 kg, and was not significantly different (P>0.05). It can be concluded that different transportation times (4 hours and 6 hours) affected local rams’ physiological conditions with similar body weight loss.Key words : sheep, transportation, physiological conditions, and body weight loss.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the hematocrit, urea and blood glucose levels of thin-tailed sheep fed feed containing various levels of Carica Dieng seeds in complete feed. A total of 18 lams aged 3-4 months with an initial body weight of 10.68 ± 1.30 kg were fed treatment following a completely randomized design pattern: T1 = complete feed + 5% carica seeds, T2 = complete feed + 12,5% carica seeds, 5%, and T3 = complete feed + 20% carica seeds, with 6 repetitions. Blood samples for hematocrit levels were taken at weeks 2 and 9 of the treatment phase, while urea and blood glucose levels were taken at week 9, 0 hours before eating, 3 and 6 hours after being given morning food. Hematocrit levels were measured using a hematocrit reader, while blood glucose and urea levels used a scalvo analyzer. The results showed that various levels of carica seeds in complete feed had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the hematocrit, glucose and blood urea levels in sheep. The average hematocrit level at weeks 2 and 9 were 21.94 and 28.16%, the average glucose level at 0 hours was 71.22 mg/dL, and at 3 and 6 hours each was 79.00; 85.94 mg/dL. The average urea level at 0 hours, 3 and 6 hours was 30.21, 26.96 and 27.26 mg/dL. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that using Carica Dieng seeds in complete feed does not cause haematological disorders characterized by blood profile levels within normal limits.. Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui hubungan antara konsumsi serat kasar dan lemak kasar dengan total solid dan lemak susu kambing Peranakan Ettawa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dan purposive sampling. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah 35 ekor kambing Peranakan Ettawa dengan kriteria bulan laktasi 4-5, periode laktasi 2-3 dan frekuensi pemerahan 2 kali. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan analisis regresi linier sederhana dan non linier kuadratik dan korelasi. Variabel bebas (variabel X) pada penelitian ini adalah konsumsi serat kasar dan lemak kasar, sedangkan variabel terikat (variabel Y) pada penelitian ini adalah total solid dan lemak susu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan linier positif yang lemah antara konsumsi serat kasar dengan total solid dan lemak susu (r = 0,185 dan r = 0,160). Hubungan antara konsumsi lemak kasar dengan total solid dan lemak susu pada penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan kuadratik yang lemah (r = 0,316 dan r=0,320). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan yang lemah antara konsumsi serat kasar dan lemak kasar dengan total solid dan lemak susu. Semakin tinggi konsumsi serat kasar akan meningkatkan kandungan total solid dan lemak susu, tetapi konsumsi lemak kasar yang semakin tinggi tidak selalu meningkatkan kandungan total solid dan lemak susu.(Correlations between crude fiber and crude fat intake with total solid and milk fat contents in ettawa crossbreed goat)ABSTRACT. This study was aimed to determine the correlations between crude fiber and crude fat intake with total solid and milk fat contents. Samples used in this study were 35 Ettawa Crossbreed goats with lactation month of 4-5, lactation period of 2-3 and twice daily milking. Simple linear regression and non linear quadratic regression analysis were used in this study with crude fiber and crude fat intake as independent variables (X), meanwhile total solid and milk fat as dependent variables (Y). Simple Linear Regression showed that there was low positive correlation between crude fiber with total solid and milk fat contents (r = 0,185 and r = 0,160). Moreover, Non Linear Quadratic Regression analysis showed that there was low quadratic correlation between crude fat intake with total solid and milk fat contents (r=0,316 dan r = 0,320). In conclusion, there was alow correlation between crude fiber and crude fat intake with total solid and milk fat. High intake of crude fiber would increase total solid and milk fat contents, but high intake of crude fat would not increase total solid and milk fat contents.

Abstract

A study to compare the back fat thickness, rib eye muscle area, and body condition score (BCS) of young thin-tailed lambs fed various levels of carica Dieng seeds in rations. Eighteen male lambs aged 3-4 months with an initial body weight of 10.68 ± 1.30 kg were applied three feeding treatments (T) following a completely randomized design, T1 = complete feed containing 5% carica seeds, T2 = complete feed containing 12.5% carica seeds, and T3 = complete feed containing 20% carica seeds, with six replications each.  At the end of 14 weeks of feeding treatment, back fat thickness and rib eye muscle area were measured using the Digital Veterinary Ultrasound Imaging System CTS-800. Yield grade value was determined using back fat thickness data, while the BCS assessment was carried out visually. The results showed that various levels of carica seeds addition to complete feed did not produce significant differences (P>0.05) in all variables measured. Back fat thickness, BCS, and rib eye muscle area in young thin-tailed sheep were  1.46 mm, 3.06, and 15.52 cm2, respectively. It might be concluded that supplementation of carica Dieng seeds up to 20% in the complete feed can still be utilized by young thin-tailed sheep.
