Abstract

Cadmium (Cd) is a nephrotoxic heavy metal which endangers human health, especially welding workers. Cadmium can enter the body through inhalation of formed air pollutants. Cadmium would then bind with metallotionins, binds Cd+Mt, which would be deposited in the kidneys and induces the formation of lipid-free radical peroxidation that damages the kidneys, characterized by an increase of creatinine and β2 microglobulins. This service aims to educate welding workers about the impact of cadmium intoxication on the body and the prevention against cadmium exposure. The methods used are demonstration and playback of a video about prevention against cadmium exposure. This activity was carried out on May 6th, 2021 at the CV. Rigansa Mataram welding workshop. The activity was attended by ten participants. The results are an increase of knowledge from a mean pretest score of 50 to a mean posttest score of 90

Abstract

Abstract Background: Electroneurography (ENG) is also known as nerve conduction examination, which includes examination of motor, sensory and slow response nerve conduction velocity (KHS). Abnormalities of KHS and evoked potentials may reveal the underlying pathophysiology of peripheral nerve disorders. With a good clinical examination, the ENMG examination will very helpfull main diagnosis. This examination helps determine the topical diagnosis, pathology and prognosis of peripheral nervous system disorders. Methods: This type of research is a descriptive observational study from the patient's medical record to determine the profile and results of the examination of patients undergoing electroneurography examination at the outpatient polyclinic, Mataram University Hospital. Sampling in the form of medical record data from January 1, 2020 - December 31, 2020 with a sample of 40 people. The research data will be entered and presented in tables and figures. Then the tables and figures will be analyzed. Results: Patients the most research subjects male as many as 27 people (67.5%). Patients who have the most body weight with a weight range of 51-100 kg 30 people (75%). For the highest height of the sample is in the range of 150-200 cm with a total of 34 people (85%). Most of the patients with non-traumatic complaints were 34 people (85%). The highest number of patients was polyneuropathy with a total of 22 people (55%). Conclusion: From this study, it was found that patients who take electroneurographic examinations at the Neurology Polyclinic at the University of Mataram had very varied characteristics and examination results.

Abstract

Traditional diver diving activities look for fish by archery underwater frequently do not pay attention to safety aspects, so there is an increasing risk of causing diving injuries. Diving injuries are preventable injuries, if safe diving guidelines are followed and obeyed. Diving injuries symptoms can be mild to severe, so education about prevention and recognition of disease disorders that can occur due to diving is being given. The community service is carried out in two simultaneous activities: diving safety lectures and general medical examination. The participants, 30 participants for general medical examination, and 4 participants for traditional divers. Of the 30 participants for general medical examination, it was predominantly female (18/30), with an age range of 4-60 years with a median age of 37 years. The most common diseases that are complained of are upper respiratory tract infections (ARI) (8/30), skin complaints (6/30), hypertension (6/30), diabetes (4/30), headaches (3/30), diarrhea (1/30), musculoskeletal complaints (1/30) and toothache (1/30). Education is carried out to all participants. The media used were a slide projector and x-banner. Four traditional divers comes with 3 Decompression sickness and 1 barotrauma. Questions coverage diving preparation, Diving techniques and do's and don't's after diving. The community service went well with 34 enthusiastic participants filled by questions. Three most common diseases being ARI, skin complaints and hypertension and diving injuries of decompression sickness and barotrauma.

Abstract

Decompression sickness (DCS) is a collection of symptoms caused by the formation of air bubbles in the blood or tissues during or after a decrease in environmental pressure (decompression). In general, the main symptoms of DCS type 1 (pain-only beds) are muscle pain and weakness. So to diagnose Decompression Disease (DCS) type 1, it is based on the symptoms and the history of diving. Type 1 decompression sickness is managed by choosing initial treatment in the form of giving 100% oxygen through a face mask or, if needed, through intubation. While hyperbaric oxygen therapy can be used for definitive therapy if it is available in primary or secondary health care facilities.

Abstract

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a malignancy that arises due to abnormal growth of body cells that appear in the nasopharyngeal area, namely the area above the throat and behind the nose. Almost 60% of malignant tumors of the head and neck are nasopharyngeal carcinomas, followed by malignant tumors of the nose and paranasal sinuses (18%), larynx (16%), and oral cavity tumors. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is endemic in certain regions of the world, especially in Southeast Asia, and has a poor prognosis, with the highest incidence in southern China. Indonesia is one of the countries with a high prevalence of nasopharyngeal cancer patients. The average prevalence recorded is 6.2 cases per 100,000 Indonesian population with 13,000 new cases of nasopharyngeal carcinoma each year.

Abstract

Meningioma is the most common type of benign brain tumor in adults and mostly originates from the meningeal layer of the brain and spinal cord. The prevalence of meningioma in the world is estimated to be about 24-30% of intracranial primary brain tumors. This tumor is classified into three groups based on grade, grade I (benign), grade II (atypical), and grade III (anaplastic). The S100 protein is not specific to meningiomas but some studies have shown that the expression of S100 protein is stronger in grade I meningiomas than in grade II and III meningiomas. Based on these findings, the authors are interested in analyzing whether there is a relationship between S100 expression and meningioma grading. The determination of S100 protein expression is very necessary as a reference in determining the prognosis and selection of the best therapy for patients. This research was carried out in the period from January 2021 to December 2021. 9 samples were included in this study according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data was analyzed using SPSS version 26. The results of this study: A normality test was carried out with the Shapiro Wilk test and a value of p=0.34 (CI 95%) was obtained using Spearman analysis.

Abstract

Uterine Atony is medical condition characterized by the inability of the uterus to contract after labour which can lead to dangerous postpartum bleeding. This condition occurs when the uterine muscles do not function properly to shrink the size of the uterus after childbirth, allowing blood to collect in the uterine cavity. Uterine atony is one of the main causes of postpartum hemorrhage that contributes significantly to the high maternal mortality rate, especially in Indonesia. The purpose of writing this article is to add information related to uterine atony so that early identification and appropriate interventions can be made in the management of uterine atony to reduce maternal mortality in Indonesia. The review method used is a type of literature review that collects and identifies literature related to topics that discuss the definition, epidemiology, risk factors, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, management and complications of uterine atony.

Abstract

Abortion is defined as the process of expelling the products of conception before the fetus is fit to survive. The fetus is said to be viable or able to survive when it reaches 20 weeks of pregnancy or weighs 500 grams. The purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive understanding of abortion, including definition, epidemiology, etiology, risk factors, classification, and management of abortion. The method used is a literature review that includes various academic sources and the latest research related to abortion. Based on the type of occurrence, abortion is divided into two, namely spontaneous abortion and intentional abortion.. Based on the type of event, abortion is divided into two, namely spontaneous abortion and intentional abortion. Intentional abortion is divided into abortion provokatus medicinalis or abortion carried out with medical indications and abortion provokatus criminalis, namely abortion without a valid medical reason. Meanwhile, based on the clinical picture, abortion is divided into several types, namely imminens abortion, incipient abortion, incomplete abortion, complete abortion, missed abortion, and septic abortion. The various types of abortion have their own management.
