Abstract

Indonesia has tropical areas which part of oriental region in the division of the world's major biomes. Generally, human holds that certain species are useful when they are able to meet their own needs indirectly, such as food sources, clothing or any other needs.  Frequently, this limited view makes utilization effort and conservation runs into barriers.  Thus, to overcome these barriers, human view needs to be expanded and it should be instilled the awareness for understanding that the presence of any species have benefits and roles in environmental life. Bird is one of various species of wildlife which is easy to find because it spreads widely in every type of ecosystem. The aim of this study is to determine Bird Species Association with Mangrove Vegetation in Coastal Marine Territory in South Tinombo Sub-District of Parigi Moutong District. The research method applied are primary data and secondary data collection which the primary data is obtained through observation types, attendance, or presence time (direct observation in the field) while the secondary data is obtained from office, related agencies and previous studies reports. The technique of data collection is to create a compartment 20 x 20 m totally 20 switch and they are placed along the path transek with 500 meters length. The result shows that from 16 birds’ species and 4 types of mangroves found from each plot observations, there are only two bird species which have association with mangrove namely Red Turtle Dove and Collared Kingfisher with Rhizophora mucronata. Those are located in Tinombo South Sub-district.Keywords: Bird Species Association with Mangrove.

Abstract

Mangrove is an ecosystem with uniqe function in the life environment. Because of the influence of sea and land, there was complex interaction happened between physical and biological properties in the mangrove area. The physical properties of mangrove able to act as breakwater as well as an intrusion detterent and sea abrasion.  Litter decomposition process of mangrove that occurs can support the life of living things in it. The existence of Mangrove forest that is located in Dolago village of South Parigi sub-district at Parigi Moutong district which alleged to have suffered damage, therefore it is necessary to do research related with the damage of mangrove forest in that village. This study aims to find out the condition of the damage of forest mangrove and the physical-chemical condition of water. This study have been conducted in Dolago village, South Parigi Sub-District, Parigi Moutong District in March until May 2016. The water analysis was conducted in Natural Resources and Environmental Analysis Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty Tadulako University. This study used Line Transect and Trasect Line Plot. Data obtained from 3 paths that have been made. Water sampling conducted on each path of vegetation observation. The result showed that the mangrove forest in Dolago village has been damaged with classified as moderately damage by the density 1233 btg/ha. Abstract

Agroforestry practices in fact has long been practiced by rural communities (local traditional agroforestry), and even in some places the implementation of agroforestry has an important role in the socio-cultural aspects of the local community. Study of the characteristics of land use (systems and pattern of agroforestry-based land use), as well as the orientation of land use is still rarely studied. Even it is not a study based agroforestry landscape, but the micro-scale (plot-based interaction). So there is no information that can explain characteristis of agroforestry landscape of the community. It is important to look at the specific characteristics of agroforestry-based land use that is owned by the community. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of agroforestry on community land in the Simoro village and assess the orientation of agroforestry land use community-owned Simoro village. Analysis of data used in this research are descriptive analysis and analysis of the NEP (New Environmental Paradigm). Research resulted, the pattern of agroforestry and land use at Simoro village include simple and complex agroforestry system, where the farmers combine seasonal crops and tree crops, whereas in complex agroforestry system using mix cropping pattern at home garden. The results of analysis of the NEP (New Erwironmental Paradigm) shows the value of egoistic respondents fall into the low category. This indicates that respondents, in general, have a desire to clear land to not only put the interests of the individual and the consideration of the benefit and loss agroforestry practic, but also considering into account the conservation of nature, while the value of altruristic fall in the low category. This indicates that respondents generally lack aware of the public community interest and the value of biospheric of respondents were also may be categorized of high. This indicates that the community of  Simoro village generally have the awareness of the importance of environmental aspects, not only for their personal important, but also for the other village community. Keywords: Agroforestry, land uses, biospheric, alturistic, egoistic.
