Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the productivity pattern of article in Indonesia 1978-2007, and it is to test and analyze the productivity distribution of article author in the field of Library and Information. This research uses quantitative approach through bibliometric analysis based on Lotka’s law. The data of this research is taken from the Index of Indonesian Learned Periodicals and database of PDII LIPI from 1978-2007. It is found that there are 826 authors and 1245 articles of Library and Information Science. The result of this research shows that the rate of the authors contribution to one article is 66.02 percent. Goodness-of-fit test using Kolmogorov-Smirnov test indicates that critical value in 0.05 is 0.0473 and maximum deviation value is 0.0775. It means that the maximum deviation is bigger than critical value, so the null hypothesis is rejected and difference between the Lotka’s law theoretic distribution and the distribution of article authors in the field of Library and Information Science.

Abstract

Nagari Maninjau in Agam Regency, West Sumatra is one of the popular tourist areas that are not only known by the local community, but also by domestic and foreign tourists. This condition causes many administrative matters to be managed by the Village-chief office of Maninjau. So far, archive management has been carried out in a simple manner according to the knowledge possessed by the nagari apparatus and has not been in accordance with archive governance standards. This paper aims to describe efforts to optimize archive management through writing official letters, using archive classification schemes, organizing and filing archives, using Archives Retention Schedules, and using electronic archive management applications. The method used is training and guidance by involving all Nagari apparatus in Nagari Maninjau. The results of this activity are: (1) increasing the understanding of the nagari apparatus on the administration of official texts and direct implementation of the documents produced after the activity; (2) increased understanding of the use of archive classification schemes and implementation of the arrangement and filing of archives according to standards; (3) increased understanding of the use of the archive retention schedule; and (4) implementation of the use of electronic records management applications.

Abstract

Digital transformation in archival management is a strategic necessity in the modern era to enhance efficiency and the quality of information services within government institutions. However, the effectiveness of digital system implementation in legal institutions remains underexplored in a comprehensive manner. This study aims to analyze the implementation of archive digitalization through the SIPEDE application (Sistem Informasi Persuratan dan Disposisi Elektronik), evaluate the quality of information services post-implementation, and assess its impact on improving information service delivery at the Sijunjung District Attorney’s Office. The research employed a quantitative associative method using a survey approach, involving 40 employee respondents. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaire distribution, and literature review. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and simple linear regression. The results show that archive digitalization via SIPEDE has a highly significant effect on the quality of information services, with a Pearson correlation value of 0.993 and an R Square of 0.987. The application positively impacted five core dimensions of the E-SERVQUAL model: efficiency, fulfillment, system availability, privacy, and responsiveness. Additionally, elements of the Records Continuum Model (RCM), including record creation, capture, and organization contributed to improved access and workflow. This study concludes that SIPEDE has effectively enhanced both the technical and functional quality of information services within the Sijunjung District Attorney’s Office.

Abstract

Perilaku pencarian informasi merupakan kegiatan mencari informasi oleh seseorang untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasinya. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku pencarian informasi mahasiswa Program Studi Perpustakaan dan Ilmu Informasi Tahun Masuk 2022 dalam menggunakan Google Scholar dengan Model Niedzwiedzka terdiri dari identifikasi kebutuhan informasi, keputusan mencari informasi, pencarian informasi, seleksi dan pemrosesan informasi serta menggunakan informasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan jenis penelitian kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian Mahasiswa Departemen Ilmu Informasi dan Perpustakaan Tahun Masuk 2022 Universitas Negeri Padang berjumlah 203 orang dengan sampel diambil sebanyak 67 mahasiswa menggunakan rumus slovin. Selanjutnya teknik yang digunakan yaitu teknik purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diketahui bahwa perilaku pencarian informasi mahasiswa dalam menggunakan Google Scholar pada tahapan identifikasi kebutuhan informasi sangat baik dengan skor rata-rata 3,29. Perilaku pencarian informasi mahasiswa dalam menggunakan Google Scholar pada tahapan keputusan mencari informasi baik dengan skor rata-rata 3,22. Perilaku pencarian informasi mahasiswa dalam menggunakan Google Scholar pada tahapan pencarian informasi baik dengan skor rata-rata 3,24. Perilaku pencarian informasi mahasiswa dalam menggunakan Google Scholar pada tahapan seleksi dan pemrosesan informasi baik dengan skor rata-rata 3,23. Perilaku pencarian informasi mahasiswa dalam menggunakan Google Scholar pada tahapan menggunakan informasi baik dengan skor rata-rata  3,18.

Abstract

This research examines the media literacy abilities of students at SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Suhuing. The aim of this research is to explain students' abilities in using media, understanding media, analyzing, evaluating and producing information in the media. The location of the research was at SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Suhuing Jl. M Yamin No.2, Lubuk Suhuing, Pauah, Pasaman, Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra.This research uses quantitative research with descriptive methods. The population in this study were students at SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Suhuing with samples taken using simple random sampling. The main instrument used was a research questionnaire which had been tested for validity and reliability, the sample size was 92 people. Data collection techniques are questionnaire techniques and questionnaire data processing through editing and tabulation stages.The results of the research are: the Use Skill indicator (technical ability) has an average score of 3.41 which is on an interval scale of 3.25 – 4.00 so it can be concluded that the technical ability of students at SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Suhuing is categorized as very good. The Critical Understanding indicator has an average score of 3.47 which is on an interval scale of 3.25 – 4.00 so it can be concluded that the critical understanding of students at SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Suhuing is in the very good category. the Communicative Ability indicator (communicative ability) has an average score of 3.16 which is on an interval scale of 2.50 – 3.24 so it can be concluded that students at SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Suhuing have communicative abilities in the good category. The Evaluation and Analysis indicator has an average score of 3.15 which is in the interval score of 2.50 – 3.24, so it can be concluded that the ability to evaluate and analyze the information of SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Suhuing students is in the good category.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe (1) the health information seeking behavior of the community in Bukit Apit Puhun Village, Bukittinggi City at the initiation stage, (2) the health information seeking behavior of the community in Bukit Apit Puhun Village, Bukittinggi City at the selection stage. ), (3) health information seeking behavior among the community in Bukit Apit Puhun Village, Bukittinggi City at the exploration stage. This research uses quantitative research with descriptive methods. The population in this study was the community in Bukit Apit Puhun Village, Bukittinggi City, with samples taken using simple random sampling. The main instrument used was a research questionnaire which had been tested for validity and reliability, the sample size was 97 people. The variables in this research are the people in Bukit Apit Puhun Village, Bukittinggi City. Data collection techniques are questionnaire techniques and questionnaire data processing through editing and tabulation stages. The results of the research are: (1) health information seeking behavior at the initiation stage has a total average score of 3.17 and is on an interval scale of 2.50 – 3.24 (good). At this initiation stage, respondents tend to be more influenced by the demographic or socio-cultural conditions of the community where they live. This factor helps in understanding how the various aspects of human life are composed; (2) health information seeking behavior at the selection stage has a total average score of 3.14 and is on an interval scale of 2.50 – 3.24 (good). At this selection stage, respondents tend to collect information they obtain through social media. Collecting health information intelligently and critically is very useful in making wise decisions; (3) health information seeking behavior at the exploration stage has a total average score of 3.06 and is on an interval scale of 2.50 – 3.24 (good). At this exploration stage, respondents' health information needs are met through the initiation, selection and exploration stages. Fulfilling the need for health information can be an effort to maintain and improve the health of individuals and society. Overall, the results of the research analysis can be concluded by researchers that the public's health information seeking behavior is in good condition.

Abstract

This research aims to 1) Find out the accessibility analysis of the IFLA Checklist physical access standards for disabled users at the Padang State University Library. 2) Know the accessibility analysis of the IFLA Checklist media format standard for disabled users at the Padang State University Library. 3) Know the accessibility analysis of the IFLA Checklist service and communication standards for disabled users at the Padang State University Library. There are 3 results from this research, namely First, an analysis of the accessibility of the IFLA Checklist physical access standards for disabled users in the Padang State University library shows that it is almost in accordance with the IFLA Checklist standards, because it obtained an average score of 2.91 or is on an interval scale of 2.7-3 .6. Second, the accessibility analysis of the IFLA Checklist media format standard for disabled users at the Padang State University library is not in accordance with IFLA standards because it obtained an average value of 2.62 which is on an interval scale of 1.9-2.7. Third, the accessibility analysis of the IFLA Checklist service and communication access standards for disabled users at the Padang State University library is not in accordance with IFLA standards because the average value is 2.62 which is on an interval scale of 2.8-3.6.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the level of new media literacy of adolescents in using social media at the stages of functional consuming, critical consuming, functional prosuming, and critical prosuming. This research uses quantitative research with descriptive methods. The population in the study amounted to 365 people. Samples were taken as many as 79 respondents, namely adolescents in Nagari Lareh Nan Panjang, VII Koto Sungai Sarik District, Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra Province. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data was collected using a questionnaire through google form with a likert scale. The results of this study indicate that: the level of new media literacy among adolescents in the use of social media scored 2.97, which is in the interval 2.50 - 3.24, which is categorized as high. (1) in functional consuming, it scored 3.11 which is in the interval 2.50 - 3.24, so it can be concluded that the adolescents of Nagari Lareh Nan Panjang have a high ability to access and understand the media content delivered; (2) in critical consuming, it has an average score of 2.95 which is in the interval 2.50 - 3.24, so it can be concluded that the adolescents of Nagari Lareh Nan Panjang have a high ability to assess and analyze media content in depth; (3) in functional prosuming, it scored 2.91 which is in the interval 2.50 - 3.24, so it can be concluded that the adolescents of Nagari Lareh Nan Panjang have a high ability to create media content and actively participate in new media spaces; (4) in critical prosuming, it has a score of 2.92 which is in the interval 2.50 - 3.24, so it can be concluded that the adolescents of Nagari Lareh Nan Panjang have a high ability to actively and critically participate in social media.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the role of teachers as educators and librarians at SDN 21 Pasar Pandan Air Mati, Solok City, in three aspects: first, their key role in the curriculum; second, as information specialists; and third, as managers of information services. This research is a qualitative study using a descriptive method. The sampling in this study was conducted using purposive sampling, involving three individuals: two teacher-librarians as the first and second informants, and one school principal as the third informant. Data collection was carried out through interviews. Data analysis techniques were conducted in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that: first, the key role in the curriculum has been implemented effectively. This is reflected in the collaboration between the principal and teachers to ensure that information literacy receives special attention within the curriculum. Second, the role of teacher-librarians as information specialists in the school facilitates and supports the provision of education using the library for library users. However, library management needs further development to enhance its efficiency for students at the school. Third, as managers of information services, teacher-librarians have not been highly effective in designing and implementing strategies for evaluating the school’s collection. This is partly due to budget constraints, which hinder efforts to meet the library’s needs effectively. While efforts to promote books and a culture of reading have started to show progress, they remain suboptimal. This is primarily because teachers’ main focus and responsibilities lie in their primary role as educators at the school.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana penerapan layanan informasi disabilitas bagi pemustaka berkebutuhan khusus menggunakan model analisis SOAR di Dinas Kearsipan dan Perpustakaan Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yakni menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dalam tiga tahapan yakni reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: Pertama, yaitu (S) strengths/kekuatan yang telah diterapkan pada layanan informasi disabilitas di Dinas Kearsipan dan Perpustakaan Provinsi Sumatera Barat yang mencakup aksesibilitas seperti fasilitas untuk pemustaka berkebutuhan khusus masih belum lengkap, hanya tersedia ramp, ruang baca khusus, buku braille, dan toilet khusus disabilitas. Koleksi bahan pustaka khusus juga terbatas, hanya tersedia 660 buku braille, sehingga banyak pemustaka tidak menemukan buku yang diinginkan. Akibatnya, layanan informasi disabilitas minim pengunjung. Kedua, yaitu (O) opportunities. Layanan informasi disabilitas di Dinas Kearsipan dan Perpustakaan Provinsi Sumatera Barat melakukan beberapa peluang untuk berkembang dan meningkatkan layanannya seperti melakukan kerja sama dengan Dinas Sosial, menyelenggarakan acara dan aktivitas yang secara eksplisit dirancang untuk inklusi dengan mengundang organisasi disabilitas berkunjung. Ketiga, yaitu (A) aspirations. Ada beberapa aspirasi yang diusung oleh pemustaka dan pustakawan untuk mencapai inklusivitas yang lebih besar dan kualitas layanan yang lebih baik yaitu dengan meningkatkan aksesibilitas dan inklusivitas layanan perpustakaan. Ini mencakup penambahan koleksi buku braille dan buku audio, peta braille, petunjuk arah audio, guiding block dan ramp di pintu masuk depan untuk memudahkan akses fisik. Selain itu, penting bagi petugas perpustakaan untuk memahami teknologi asistif dan cara berinteraksi dengan penyandang disabilitas melalui pelatihan yang memadai. Keempat, yaitu (R) result. Hasil dari penerapan layanan informasi disabilitas di Dinas Kearsipan Dan Perpustakaan Provinsi Sumatera Barat sangat positif dan bermanfaat bagi para pemustaka disabilitas. Layanan ini memudahkan mereka dalam memenuhi kebutuhan informasi dengan menyediakan aksesibilitas yang diperlukan secara umum, meskipun belum sepenuhnya terpenuhi.
