Abstract

Borax is a chemical that is hazardous to health and is often misused as a food additive. The addition of this chemical is to make food chewier and more durable. It is important to test the presence of borax in snacks around us. The purpose of this study was to test the presence of borax in meatballs sold in the town square in one of the cities in East Java. The test method was carried out qualitatively, namely organoleptic test, AgNO3 test, turmeric extract test, and borax test kit. The results showed that all meatball samples tested positive for borax. Organoleptically, meatballs containing preservatives do not easily become soft (remain chewy), do not give off a bad smell for longer, and do not grow mold easily. This kind of research is important to anticipate the emergence of diseases due to borax abuse.

Abstract

Penggunan popok yang terlalu lama dapat mengakibatkan peradangan dan iritasi pada kulit bayi, hal ini disebut dengan istilah ruam popok. Tingkat kelembapan pada area popok juga dapat meningkatkan resiko dermatitis popok pada bayi. Pengatasan masalah ruam pada kulit akibat popok dapat dilakukan dengan pengobatan farmakologi, yaitu dengan cara memberikan salep pada kulit yang terkena iritasi. Zink oksida merupakan salah satu bahan aktif yang dapat digunakan untuk mengatasi ruam popok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan formula optimal salep zink oksida dengan variasi konsentrasi cera alba. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental untuk membedakan hasil formulasi dan evaluasi fisik salep zink oksida berbasis variasi konsentrasi cera alba. Hasil penelitian menyatakan pada sediaan salep zink oksida formula I memenuhi spesifikasi evaluasi organoleptis, pH, daya sebar, dan homogenitas. Sedangkan pada formula II tidak memenuhi spesifikasi pada evaluasi daya sebar. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu terdapat pengaruh variasi konsentrasi cera alba sebagai basis terhadap formulasi dan evaluasi fisik salep zink oksida. Formula paling optimal dari penelitian ini adalah formula I. Kata kunci: Dermatitis Popok, Cera Alba, Salelp, Zink oksida

Abstract

Berdasarkan hasil survey pendahuluan tentang tingkat pengetahuan lansia terhadap obat Antihipertensi menunjukkan 7 dari 10 responden tidak mengetahui penggunaan obat antihipertensi dengan tepat. Mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan lansia terhadap obat antihipertensi. Jenis penelitian bersifat nonexperimental menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Populasi adalah masyarakat Desa Simbatan yang melakukan kunjungan ke Posyandu sebanyak 80 orang, pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara total sampling. Terdapat sebanyak 56 orang (70%) memiliki pengetahuan cukup terhadap obat antihipertensi, sedangkan berdasarkan pernyataan kuesioner tingkat pengetahuan lansia mayoritas responden menjawab benar pada pernyataan obat darah tinggi mempunyai efek samping berbeda- beda seperti buang air kecil sebanyak 80 (100%). Tingkat pengetahuan hipertensi pasien lansia di Desa Simbatan Kecamatan Sarirejo Kabupaten Lamongan Jawa Timur dapat dikategorikan  cukup (70%).

Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the risk factors of  Low Birth Weight (LBW) in agricultural area (Breses district) with high pesticide exposure. The research was an observational study with case control design. Study subject were post partum-productive age (20-35 years) women, consisting of 60 cases (LBW) and 60 controls (non-LBW). The independent variables were maternal weight gain during pregnancy, MUAC in early pregnancy, hemoglobin levels in the third trimester body mass index before pregancy and level of pesticides exposure. Nutrient intake data was obtained by semiquantitative food frequency questionnaires (FFQ), maternal and child health (KIA) book and data on level of pesticide exposure was obtained through a structured interview. Data were analyzed by calculating the Odds Ratio (OR) using logistic regression. There was no differences in  age between cases and controls. Median length, mother’s education level, BMI and MUAC among the cases was lower than the control group. Low protein adequacy level (OR= 8.9; 95%CI:1.6-227.7); less weight gain (OR=9.1; 95%CI:2.9-28,); High pesticides exposure (OR=7.4;  95%CI:1.3-40.9); low MUAC <23.5 cm (OR=4.6; 95%CI:1.3-15.5) were LBW risk factors in Brebes. Inadequacy of nutritients and high pesticides exposure during pregnancy was LBW risk factors. Women are advised to increase nutrients intake and avoid  pesticides exposure during pregnant.
