Abstract

Transferable skills are abilities and knowledge that can be used in various jobs and career paths and is related to the career development of students in the era of disruption. School counsellors need to understand student profiles related to these basic skill sets in order to be able to design career development programs that are relevant to today's career dynamics. This study aims to construct a transferable skill scale that can be used as a guidance and counselling assessment tool for student career development. The construction of this scale goes through the stages of 1) aspect construction based on literature studies, 2) item creation, and 3) pilot test. The construct validity test used Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The results of the CFA show that several dimensions of transferable skills require modification of the model until a fit model is obtained.. Thus the scale has a suitable model for measuring transferable skills, which consist of aspects of 1) Communication Skills (7 items), 2) Management Skills (9 Items), 3) Numerical Skills (5 Items), Creativity Skills (6 Items), Social Skills (6 Items), Critical Thinking Skills (5 Items), and Business Skills (6 Items).

Abstract

Dozens of years ago, it was difficult to even consider playing video games as a career path. Following immense development in the last decade, esports has evolved into a luxurious, enjoyable, and profitable industry. It has now become an interesting, appealing industry for young people. However, despite the media’s glorification towards the industry, there is so much pressure, obligation, and factors that would turn a seemingly fun and simple occupation into a stressful line of work, contrary to how medias and the public perceives this industry. This article will dive deeply into what is going on behind the scenes, using the study case method, in which the author is directly involved in the esports industry of the Dota 2 game. Following the observations, it can be concluded that esports athletes are heavily affected by external demands, media scrutiny, their daily routine, habits, nutrition, and internal conflicts within the team’s environment.

Abstract

This research examines the frequent use of smartphones among college students. These conditions can lead to nomophobia behavior disorder (no mobile phone phobia). This study aims to: 1) analyze the level of nomophobia in students based on gender, faculty academic culture, and age; 2) analyze differences in nomophobia simultaneously based on gender, faculty academic culture, and age. This study uses a quantitative descriptive comparative approach. Data were obtained from 988 students at Islamic tertiary institutions. Samples were selected by convenience sampling technique. The instrument used is the nomophobia questionnaire (NMP-Q) (Yildirim, 2014), with high reliability. Data were analyzed using an Independent Sample T-test, analysis with one-way ANOVA, and two-way ANOVA analysis. The results of the study show that nomophobia among students is in the high category. This study proves that there are differences in the level of nomophobia in terms of gender where women are higher than men. Based on the faculty's academic culture and age, there is no difference in student nomophobia. There is an interaction between gender and age in influencing nomophobia. Simultaneously there was no interaction between gender, faculty academic culture, and age in determining the level of nomophobia.

Abstract

College students and youth at their age are more susceptible to mental health problems. That has increased the need for mental health information in recent years. However, often the information received is not necessarily valid. Thus, education regarding mental health literacy is also needed. Podcasts are an alternative mental health service in the digital era. The research aims to prove the effectiveness of podcasts as a medium for developing mental health literacy. This study uses a quasi-experimental method to test the effectiveness of the podcast content entitled “Ngomongin Diri” Podcast. The research design was carried out with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The research population was BKI UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten's third-semester students. Samples were taken at random at 20% of the population, and 30 people were obtained as samples. Research data regarding mental health literacy was obtained using a mental health literacy questionnaire which refers to the construct from Jorm, which consists of three domains: Knowledge, Believe, and Resource. The study results show that Podcasts are proven effective media for developing mental health literacy. The role of podcasts in increasing mental health literacy is psycho-educational media, mental health promotion, and a resource for learning coping skills.

Abstract

Financial literacy for students is needed so that they can recognize their own consumption patterns, make rational considerations, and control excessive consumption patterns. Currently, financial literacy is a life skill that must be possessed to support personal well-being. The lack of guidance and counseling research in this area encourages researchers to examine aspects of financial literacy needed by students (P1), and guidance strategies that can be used to strengthen students' financial literacy (P2). The method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and uses the PRISMA model. The screening results showed nine publications indexed by scopus, that could be used as research data. The results of the Co-occurrence analysis show that there are four guidance contents related to financial literacy a) psychological aspects in financial decisions, b) short-term goal setting, c) financial decision making, and d) effective behavior in managing finances. The strategy used is a group strategy and a cognitive-based strategies. Guidance services can be strengthened by presenting visual data and strengthening personal goals in managing finances.

Abstract

Mental health literacy is needed so that Santris better understands the dynamics within themselves and knows the risk factors that can disrupt their mental health. The growth of Santri's psycho-social problems such as bullying, theft, and running away from the dormitory is not far from mental health literacy, especially in managing mood. The obstacles experienced by Islamic boarding schools are the density of education programs and the need for more human resources, such as guidance and counseling teachers in Islamic boarding schools. Therefore, researchers offer a solution through developing a self-help book. The research aims to test self-help books to increase mental health literacy. The method used was quasi-experimental with a sample of 58 santris at the Peradaban Islamic Boarding School. Sample selection was carried out using purposive sampling. Mental health literacy was measured using a Mental Health Literacy Questionnaire (MHLQ). The Self-Help book has been proven effective for developing Santris' mental health literacy, based on differences in mental health literacy scores before (x̄ =114) and after(x̄ =119) Santris read and follow guided exercises in self-help books (p = .000, p < .05). The change in the mental health literacy dimension that has increased the most is the resource dimension (ability to manage self and maintain mental health). The experience of reading and following the guidelines in self-help books makes Santris more capable of managing themselves, as well as having basic skills in coping strategies.

Abstract

The existence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in educational practice should increase mobility and learning outcomes and improve student learning skills. On the other hand, students see AI as a system that helps them complete practical learning tasks. This condition creates a conflict and a dilemma in using AI in learning. Studies on AI in education recommend metacognitive as an essential ability for students to utilize AI well. The research aims to find the formulation of the metacognitive competencies students need in using AI as content in curriculum guidance. The research method uses the Systematic Literature Review with the PRISMA model. The literature review results show that metacognitive studies in adolescent education and development refer to longitudinal studies conducted by Roger Azevedo. Guidance curriculum in improving metacognitive skills related to the use of AI are 1) self-regulation, 2) critical thinking, and 3) decision-making process. Guidance activities that can be carried out in  developing metacognitive must be inquiry – oriented such as pair activity (brainstorming), self-assessment, experiential activity, and information selection.

Transferable skills are general skills needed to survive in today's world of work, and is part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) formulated by UNICEF.. The research aims to design and test a career guidance program containing transferable skills to increase student career maturity. A quantitative approach was used in this research; the method used was a quasi-experiment. The research was conducted on FKIP Universitas PGRI Adibuana Semester 8 students. The research sample will be chosen randomly, taking 20% of the research population. Data collection uses two tools: Transferable Skills Analysis and Career Maturity Scale. Research shows a significant change in student career maturity. The t-test results meet the H0 rejection criteria. Sig value. (2-tailed) = 0.00 and tstat = 59.500, indicating transferable skills-based career guidance effectively increases student career maturity. Research recommends that universities should be concerned about developing students' transferable skills in lecture programs and extracurricular activities in training, internships, and industry-based learning.
