Abstract

This study examines Ibn Khaldun’s economic thought as articulated in Muqaddimah, emphasizing its relevance as a holistic and multidisciplinary framework for sustainable development. Using a qualitative literature-based approach, the research analyzes Ibn Khaldun’s concept of ‘Ilm al-‘Umran (the Science of Civilization), which explains the rise and decline of societies through the dynamic interaction of moral, social, economic, political, and historical variables. The findings demonstrate that Ibn Khaldun pioneered core principles of classical economics—centuries before Adam Smith—particularly the labor theory of value, surplus generation (al-kesb), division of labor, market equilibrium, and fiscal dynamics resembling the modern Laffer Curve. His development model integrates six interdependent variables: political authority (G), institutional rules or Shariah (S), population (N), wealth (W), development (g), and justice (j), forming a circular and non-static system known as the Circle of Equity. The study highlights justice (al-‘adl) as the central determinant of sustainable development, asserting that injustice (zulm) acts as the primary trigger for civilizational decline. Ibn Khaldun’s framework further introduces a multidimensional poverty model, recognizing poverty as a function of governance, ethics, human resources, and economic growth rather than income alone. This research concludes that Ibn Khaldun’s integrated, non-Eurocentric approach offers a robust theoretical foundation for contemporary development economics, particularly in addressing governance failure, social justice, and long-term sustainability in modern societies.

Abstract

The management of productive zakat is a strategic instrument for improving the welfare of mustahik through empowerment-based strengthening of microenterprises; however, the effectiveness of its implementation depends heavily on the strategies adopted by zakat management institutions in designing program planning, implementation, and supervision. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the strategies of BAZNAS Bogor Regency in managing productive zakat and to examine the extent to which these programs are able to empower mustahik MSMEs. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and program document analysis, and were then analyzed interpretively. The findings show that the productive zakat management strategy of BAZNAS Bogor Regency is implemented through needs-based planning grounded in the actual conditions of mustahik, organizational arrangements that involve local partnerships, the disbursement of business capital accompanied by mentoring, and continuous supervision through periodic monitoring. The results further indicate that the success of MSME empowerment is strongly influenced by the quality of the initial needs analysis, the relevance of the financing schemes, and the consistency of the mentoring received by mustahik. The study concludes that productive zakat has strong potential to enhance economic self-reliance if managed through an integrated strategic approach, and recommends strengthening long-term monitoring–evaluation practices and expanding comparative inter-regional studies to enrich zakat-based empowerment models.

Abstract

The Al-Muyassar method can enable students at MTs Ar-Rifa'i to be able to read the Al-Qur'an fluently and correctly according to recitation. The difference between the al-Muyasar Al-Qur'an reading method and other Al-Qur'an reading methods is that the al-Muyasar learning method is easy, fun and touching. So from this the researcher formulated the problem, namely "Is there a significant influence of al-Muyasar on the ability to read the Al-Qur'an among students at MTs Ar-Rifa'i?" This research aims to determine the influence of Al-Muyassar on the ability to read the Al-Qur 'an on students at MTs Ar-Rifa'i Bogor? This research uses a quantitative approach. And uses a quasi-experiment method which aims to collect data and hypotheses that are in accordance with the theories and concepts that have been collected previously. The ability to read the Al-Quran in the experimental class using the al-Muyasar method increased from an average pre-test score of 60.06 and an average post-test score of 70.51. Judging from the hypothesis test using the t-test (independent-sample t-test), even though the post-test average score for the experimental class is higher than the control class, the hypothesis result is Sig. (2-tailed), 0.078 > 0.05. So Ha is rejected and H0 is accepted. The use of the al-muyasar method based on the results of the t-test (independent sample t-test) found no effect on the ability to read and memorize the Koran using the al-muyasar method in memorizing the Koran at MTs Ar-Rifa'i Bogor. The use of the al-Muyasar method has no effect on learning outcomes as proven by the hypothesis test image with a Sig score (2-tailed), 0.078 which is more than 0.05
