Abstract

Abstract

The Integrated Islamic Elementary School (Sekolah Dasar Islam Terpadu, abbreviated as SDIT) Wisata Hasanah is one of the elementary schools in Pontianak City that implements the independent Murikulum Merdeka. In this curriculum, there is the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (Proyek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila, abbreviated as P5), where students actively address relevant issues in their surroundings. In a previous P5 activity, training on waste sorting based on its types—organic and inorganic—was conducted. A field lecture was held at the Final Disposal Site (TPA) of Batu Layang, Pontianak in this community service activity to raise awareness and concern for the environment, develop responsibility, independence, and critical thinking skills. Waste management education needs to be carried out from an early age to produce human resources with expertise in science and technology, in line with achieving Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045. The students currently in elementary school will be the next generation to continue the nation's development. Activities at the TPA included delivering material, discussions, observations, and student feedback in the form of resumes and responses containing experiences, suggestions, input, and hopes. At the TPA site, students directly observed the facilities, infrastructure, and operational techniques of waste processing. The results of this activity included an increase in students' knowledge about waste management, an understanding of the impact of indiscriminate waste disposal and burning, and a commitment to environmental preservation. Community service is a form of collaboration and knowledge transfer between higher education institutions, elementary schools, and the government (Environmental Agency). Through this activity, it is hoped that students will develop environmental awareness and concern not only at school but also in their surrounding environment.

Abstract

The partner in this PKM program is SMPN 4 Pontianak. Based on  observations and interviews with partners, SMPN 4 Pontianak has been designated as an Adiwiyata school at the Pontianak city level. Currently, SMP Negeri 4 Pontianak aims to become a provincial-level Adiwiyata school. However, several problems have been faced, one of which is the low level of innovation in Adiwiyata activities. So this PKM activity aims to solve partner problems through the transfer of knowledge and technology related to processing waste into finished products that have added value from an economic perspective. In this PKM activity, several Adiwiyata training were carried out, namely training and assistance in using organic waste chopping machines and composters, eco-printing training, eco-bricks training, and Adiwiyata management training. It is hoped that this PKM Adiwiyata activity can help accelerate SMP Negeri 4 Pontianak to become a sustainable Adiwiyata school.

Abstract

Pasar Ikan Bersih in Singkawang is a fish market located on GM Situt Street, West Singkawang District. The fish market activities produce waste water from the remaining fish washing which is directly dumped into the river. This activity causes a decrease in the quality of river water around the fish market. The study was conducted to determine the water quality, water quality status using the pollutant index method and the pollution load capacity using the Streeter Phelps. The parameters to be studied are temperature, pH, DO, BOD, COD, and TSS. Parameters such as temperature, pH, and DO are analyzed manually.on site, while other parameters were analyzed in the laboratory. The results obtained from the water quality analysis were that there were several parameters that exceeded the quality standards of class II PP No. 22 of 2021, namely DO, BOD, and COD. In addition, the results obtained from the analysis of water quality status showed that the river was classified as lightly polluted with a value range of 2.36 - 3.44. From these calculations, it shows that the river in Singkawang is able to accommodate a pollution load of 2189.18 kg/day.
