Abstract

Ci Tarum River is one of the rivers that is widely used for people's lives. Over time, the environmental conditions of the Ci Tarum River have decreased in quality. Ci Tarum has at least five segments with its own characteristics and focus on problems in each segment. Problems commonly encountered along the Ci Tarum stream are caused by land use along the riverbank, characteristics of residents around the river, characteristics and morphology of land around the river, land ownership status and policies and law enforcement. The handling of problems that occur in the river corridor has been implemented in one of the rivers in Melbourne, Australia, namely the Yarra River. There are several things that need to be considered in handling problems in the Ci Tarum River, namely the actual condition and use of land in the river corridor, land tenure status and social control, potential pollutants in the form of liquid and solid waste, community aspirations in the study village as well as pre-design development and utilization development. land in the Ci Tarum River Corridor. The urgency to organize the Ci Tarum River corridors from a physical and social perspective is important to balance or make as proportional as possible.

Abstract

Developing new and renewable energy (NRE) is a sustainable solution to the current complexity associated with population growth and environmental problems. Some developed countries have recognized renewable energy development as a substitute for non-renewable energy such as coal, petroleum, and natural gas. Therefore, this study employed the geospatial approach scheme to identify the NRE potential in the Cipunegara watershed. This was achieved using regional research with a spatial approach and considering five locations in the upstream area of the Cipunegara watershed. Data were collected through observation, consultation with experts, and map interpretation, and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that only location 2 had a significant potential to be used in building a dam to generate electrical energy. This study was based on several aspects such as hydrology, morphology, topography, meteorology, erosion, geology, and land use. The results were derived from empirical data and geospatial modeling, and expected to serve as a significant reference for the central government in developing EBT as the tangible manifestation of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 program and the implementation of the national research master plan 2017-2045.

Abstract

The Citarum River is facing pollution and damage due to domestic and industrial activities. The provincial and national governments have implemented several programs to address the Citarum issue. One key aspect of rehabilitating the Citarum River basin is the increase in environmental awareness among the community. This research aims to examine the influence of the Citarum Harum Program on the formation of Eco-literacy among the communities in Upper Citarum. A survey was conducted with 393 respondents who reside along the banks of the Upper Citarum River, distributed across the 8 sectors of the Citarum Harum Program. The research instruments used include structured questionnaires, documentary studies, and interview guidelines. Data analysis was performed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique with SmartPLS software version 3.2.9. The results of the study indicate that Eco-literacy (ECO) has a positive correlation with the handling of existing problems (HP) with a t-value of 1.136. Eco-literacy (ECO) has a negative correlation with the physical, social, and environmental characteristics (CH) with a t-value of -0.486, as well as with the occurrence of problems with a t-value of -0.237. This suggests that the formation of eco-literacy among the communities in Upper Citarum is highly dependent on the efforts undertaken by the task force. However, there is currently no connectivity between the knowledge and attitudes of the community towards actions in the restoration of river pollution and damage.

Abstract

The geological conditions around Bantarujeg District exhibit diverse and intriguing features, especially in the area north to northwest of Cikidang village, characterized by elongated hills and steep slopes bordering the Ciwaru River to the east. Landslide potential in this region is influenced by various factors such as soil types, rock formations, subsurface materials, water saturation, slip planes, and gravity. This research aimed to mitigate landslide risks by analyzing subsurface geological conditions and structures to identify slope slip areas and predict the depth and type of layers beneath the northwest slope of Cikidang village using the Wenner-Schlumberger 2D geoelectric method. Measurements were taken along two lines: the mainline trending NW-SE and the crossline trending NE-SW. On the mainline, the topsoil layer (5.54 - 237 Ωm) is predicted to be less than 7 meters deep, with volcanic fragments (237 - 2,893 Ωm) at depths of 7 – 9.5 meters. Layers deeper than 9.5 meters exhibit resistivity values exceeding 2,893 Ωm. On the crossline, the topsoil layer (6.40 - 261 Ωm) is also less than 7 meters deep, with volcanic breccia (261 - 1,152 Ωm) at depths of 7 – 9.5 meters. Layers deeper than 9.5 meters have resistivity values exceeding 1,152 Ωm, indicating the presence of basaltic breccia in the lower layers.

There is further development related to spatial citizenship that has been researched outside Indonesia, namely spatial citizenship. Spatial citizenship can be found in a university environment in the field of geography studies. The basic ability that must be possessed in learning Geography is spatial thinking ability. Students' spatial thinking ability in describing abstract space is still relatively low due to a lack of familiarity with working on questions that hone spatial abilities. The research objectives focus on 1) analyzing the level of mastery of spatial thinking ability and spatial citizenship among students, 2) analyzing the influence of spatial thinking on the spatial citizenship competence of Geography education students. The research design used is a survey method with a quantitative approach. The population of this research was all Geography education students, totaling 15 students. The sampling technique used in this research was purposive sampling. The data analysis techniques in this research are descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of data analysis show 1) students have differences in mastery of spatial thinking, namely with an average level of mastery of spatial thinking of 42%, 2) overall mastery of spatial citizenship skills with an average of 19.8%. 2) Spatial thinking has a significant influence on spatial citizenship with a percentage of 45%. The study of spatial thinking and spatial citizenship among geography education students is not yet optimal so it needs to be studied in more detail and more broadly, even in relation to literacy. This can be used as a basis for preparing teaching materials, evaluating learning in improving spatial thinking skills..

Abstract

The issue of electricity demand in remote areas is the focus of this research. One proposed alternative solution is to provide electricity by harnessing natural potential, such as using hydropower through micro hydro systems. This study aims to (1) analyze the electricity supply in Singajaya District, Garut Regency, (2) assess the conditions of remote areas based on the non-electrification ratio of villages, (3) evaluate the potential of Micro Hydro Power Plants (MHPP), and (4) analyze the distribution of this potential in the region. Singajaya District has a high non-electrification ratio, particularly in villages such as Sukamulya, Pancasura, and Sukawangi. The use of renewable energy through MHPP is seen as a solution to enhance electricity availability in these remote areas. This research employs a spatial approach based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map potential sites for MHPP development, along with field data including rainfall, water discharge, and topography. The findings of the study indicate that (1) the electricity supply in Singajaya District is still limited, especially in remote areas that only receive 450 W, while in central areas of the district, capacity can exceed 450 W; (2) the conditions in remote areas of Singajaya District are characterized by high non-electrification ratios, with Sukamulya at 34.32%, Pancasura at 32.23%, and Sukawangi at 31.28%, making these three villages priorities for intervention; (3) six key locations were identified with significant capacity for electricity development, with a total potential generation of 170.18 kW; and (4) the distribution of MHPP potential, characterized by high water discharge and suitable elevation for water flow, could address electricity access for 19.22% of households that currently lack electricity. Keywords: Electricity Supply; Mircro Hydro; Remote Area; Renewable Energy Potential
