Abstract

In Indonesia, many tribal areas that have a habit of ceremonies . At any rate the region has a traditional ceremony has the intent and purpose and its own characteristics which actually can not be separated from the element of history . Traditional ceremony in West Sumatra is famous legendary is Tabuik ceremony held in the city of Pariaman which routinely performed each entered the month of Muharram in the Islamic calendar developed by Shi'ite to Pariaman . Tabuik ceremony is a symbolic form of expression of deep sorrow and respect for Muslims in Pariaman to the Prophet Muhammad's grandson . Pariaman community predominately Minangkabau ethnic group which generally makes the religion of Islam as a religion . Historically , Tabuik ceremony is closely related to the growth and development of Islam . At this time kenyataannyan , Tabuik ceremony in West Sumatra Pariaman city has undergone many shifts in Part of the ritual , and now only be implemented as an object of tourism to attract tourists to the city of Pariaman . The aim of this study was to see how the symbolic meaning Tabuik ceremony in Pariaman city of West Sumatra . This study used a qualitative research method with descriptive approach . The object of this study is the symbolic meaning Tabuik ceremony in Pariaman city of West Sumatra , with a research subject that is all informants that meet the needs of the research consisted of 10 members, namely tuo Tabuik pasa and Subarang , children Tabuik , Head Disbudpar Pariaman city , village children and chairman PKDP Riau through purposive technique . Data collection techniques in this study using in-depth observation and interviews and documentation . Results from this study is that the symbolic meaning Tabuik ceremony can be studied through two aspects: social and physical . The social aspect is the process of making Tabuik which consists of making deraga , taking land , cutting down banana trees, events maatam , mearak fingers , Maarak saroban , tabuik promoted , tabuik hoyak party , and tabuik thrown into the sea . The physical aspects are parts Tabuik consisting of peaks Tabuik , gomaik , top rank , and rank Bouraq below . The shift in meaning to the ceremony ceremony Tabuik influenced by maketh Tabuik be fixed event dijadikannnya Tabuik Pariaman to become the object of western Sumatra tourism . There is a difference between past and present Tabuik , Tabuik ceremony is now aiming for the entertainment and performing arts attractions with the aim to attract domestic and foreign tourists to come and see the show tabuik ceremony and can boost the regional economy and promoting particular areas of West Sumatra Pariaman area .Keyword: symbolic meaning, Tabuik ceremony, symbolic interaction.

Abstract

The emergence of pageant is a new phenomenon in Indonesia that has attracted the interest of productive Indonesians to follow. The pageant event is identical as a beauty event that is for women. Along with the development of the era of modernization, gender equality is increasingly widespread to achieve an achievement began popping special pageant event for men called the male pageant. The development of the pageant`s male event itself is already visible in Pekanbaru City. It can be seen from the start of the number of male pageant event ever held in this city. This study aims to find out how the motives of men in Pekanbaru follow the male pageant, and how they interpret the pageant event itself.This research uses qualitative research method with phenomenology approach. Research subjects consisted of 4 men in Pekanbaru City who had followed the male pageant event chosen using snowball technique. Data collection is done through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. To test the validity of the data the author using the method of extension of participation and triangulation.The result of this research shows that male motive in Pekanbaru City follows the male pageant consisting of past motive (because motive) and future motive (in order to motive). The motives of the past (because Motive) men in Pekanbaru follow the pageant's male event is (1) family motivation (2) boast of the parents (3) measure the self-tray (4) add activity. While the motive of the future (in order to motive) men in Pekanbaru follow the pageant male event is (1) to increase experience and insight (2) career supporters (3) to increase the relationship. Meaning pageant which is interpreted by man in Pekanbaru City who ever follow the pageant male event is (1) event of self development (2) positive event (3) event that becomes role model.Keyword: meaning construction, pageant, male pageant, motive

Abstract

The female collage student as “Ayam Kampus” its not only an issue but there really is. They always give an impressive performace’s attitude beyond her mask. The objective of this research was to determine how is the front stage and back stage behind a “Ayam Kampus” among female college students in the city of Pekanbaru and to learn how a self presentation of “Ayam Kampus” among female college students.The type of research was descriptive qualitative, by an approach of dramaturgy. Based on the fact, the field through observation, interviews and documentation. The subject of research was a female college student with a profession as hostess or “Ayam Kampus”. Informants in this research consists of 3 peoples. Data analysis technique used is to use interactive analysis model using data validity checking techniques and triangulation.The finding of research showed that the front stage of a “Ayam kampus” could adapt to the norms and values prevailing in society through the role they play as a student is seen from the physical appereance, attitude and behavior on campus and other social environments. While in the back stage where the environmets is more narrow scope with the values and norms that are very loose enabling them to meet the needs of economy, sexs, and the existence of self as a glaamor and modern’s women in a way become sex workers. And on the back stage, the informants showed another side of her taht is not bound to the rules of the front stage but undergro the rules and norms of back stage are made unanimously in their favor of course. Self-presentation as a a student informant and beyond “Ayam Kampus” shows the results where the difference of each informant in managing roles and impression you want displayed and perceived by them while in front stage and back stage.Keyword: self-presentation, ayam kampus, dramaturgy, behavior

Abstract

University of Riau in practice has a goal of learning is Three Dharma University. So as to manage the information that is extremely diverse academic university, the University of Riau using academic portal. However, in reality Riau University academic portal system can not ensure smooth in the delivery of academic information that can be enjoyed by the students. So the purpose of this first study, to determine the effectiveness of academic information as a means of delivering information to students. Second, to find out why the service is in the navigation can not be entirely accessible. Third, to determine the constraints of Riau University computer center to provide information updates.This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Students research subject is the University of Riau, Riau University Computer Center employees and Agency Services Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, using purposive sampling technique.The technique of collecting data through participant observation, in-depth interviews and documentation.The results show first, academic portal as a means of delivering academic information is strongly influenced by 3rd parties, namely the performance of the computer room, computer center and the University of Riau quality ISP (Internet Service Provider) have not been effective. Second, academic portal navigation facilities can not be entirely inaccessible due to lack of supervision of Riau University computer center employees. Third, the lack of the number of servers, expertise and supervision of the computer center staff and network intrusions from the Internet Service Provider is a barrier in providing information that is updated.Key word : Effectiveness, Academic Portal, Information Systems,Academic Information System.

Abstract

panai is money given by the groom to the family of the bride. Money panaiis intended for shopping wedding. Money panai has a very important role and is one ofthe pillars in the customary marriage of the Bugis tribe, especially in the community ofSungai Guntung Kecamatan Kateman District Indragiri Hilir Provinsi Riau. The purposeof this research is to see the meaning of traditions of cash money in middle and uppermiddle to middle bussiness community in Sungai Guntung Kateman District, want toknow the meaning of symbols contained in traditions of cash money, and the valuescontained in traditions of cash money on people Bugis tribe in Sungai Guntung DistrictsKateman regency Indragiri Hilir Provinsi Riau.The method of this research is qualitative, data collection techniques useobeservation, interview and documentation. In-depth interviews were conducted with theinformens of this research are Customary, Tradisional and Community Traders, usingthe snowball method of collecting data starting from several people who meet the criteriato be a member of the sample. To confirm the validity of this research data is done throughextension of participation and triangulation of data.The results of this indicate that the meaning of tradisions of cash monay in SungaiGuntung Kateman District is a cultural core, where a difficult to change. Currency moneypanai to give prestige for the family of women if the amount of money panai’ which inpeg is able to be met by the prospective groom. In terms of its function of money panai isa gift for the bride as the cost of a wedding reception. The value of cash money is largelydetermined by the status of social status of women in society, such as educatoin, familyeconomy, physical perfection, job title and descent. In addition to the money in the panaitradition is also aquipped with various equipment symbols such as rice, ginger andturmeric, a piece of cloth, wood, needles, betel, and cinnamon. Of the attributes of theaccompaniment of the cash money symbolizes the life of the household of the Bugis tribehaving certain meanings.

Abstract

Kesehatan, merupakan hal yang menjadi topik pembicaraan hangat di seluruh dunia saat ini, semua bentuk tindakan medis terus diperbaharui untuk mencipatakan kehidupan yang sehat diantara semua kesibukan, setiap orang ingin mempunyai hidup yang sehat tetapi tidak dengan mengganggu waktu bekerja mereka. Pertanyaan demi pertanyaan akan muncul dibenak peneliti, mengapa mereka mau melakukan hal tersebut. LibuRUN Pekanbaru adalah wadah yang digunakan atau yang disediakan untuk orang-orang yang tidak sempat untuk berolahraga pada pagi atau sore hari, tetapi masih ingin berolahraga, dan akhirnya di akomodir untuk berolahraga pada malam hari, dalam bentuk olahraga lari.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui; 1. Motif untuk menjadi anggota, 2. mengetahui kondisi fisik anggota, 3. mengetahui kondisi psikis anggota, 4. mengetahui kondisi sosial anggota, dan 5. mengetahui faktor apa yang mempengaruhi terbentuknya konsep diri anggota.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 10 orang, yang terdiri dari 5 orang anggota LibuRUN Pekanbaru, 5 orang anggota keluarga yang ditentukan secara purposive. Untuk mendapatkan data, penulis menggunakan tiga teknik pengumpulan data, yaitu wawancara, observasi serta dokumentasi. Untuk melihat tingkat keabsahan data, peneliti menggunakan teknik triangulasi, perpanjangan keikutsertaan, dan kecukupan referensi.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa anggota masuk ke komunitas LibuRUN Pekanbaru dipengaruhi oleh motif yang didasarkan pada motif masa lalu (because motive) yang tergolong pada motif sosiogenetis, berupa kebutuhan pemenuhan akan diri, motif dokumentasi, motif harga diri dan kebutuhan untuk mencari identitas serta motif masa yang akan datang (in order to motives) yang tergolong pada motif sosiogenetis berupa motif kebutuhan akan nilai dan pemenuhan akan diri. Kondisi fisik anggota terbentuk karena, kekuatan, koordinasi, kecepatan, daya tahan, ketepatan dan keseimbangan selama bergabung di LibuRUN. Kondisi psikis terbentuk karena kondisi kejiawaan anggota dalam melakukan aktivitas, baik itu motorik, kognitif maupun emosional. Kondisi sosial terbentuk karena ingin mencapai pola pikir yang inovatif, sikap, serta kehidupan sosial untuk mendapatkan penghidupan yang lebih bermartabat, serta konsep diri anggota terbentuk karena pengaruh, dorongan dan dukungan keluarga (significant others) dan kelompok rujukan (reference group).Kata kunci: Konsep Diri, LibuRUN, Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan acara budaya yang diadakan oleh masyarakat lokal Siak Sri Indrapura. Ini juga menyelidiki keterlibatan lebih lanjut dan kepedulian pariwisata dalam mempromosikan Siak sebagai “Truly Malay.” Penelitian ini juga mengeksplorasi upaya yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah untuk memperluas jaringan dan mempromosikan acara budaya sebagai daya tarik lokal, baik dalam lingkup lokal dan internasional, sambil memperkuat ekonomi lokal dan merevitalisasi budaya Melayu. Menggunakan pendekatan komunikasi dan budaya, penelitian kualitatif ini menemukan beberapa acara budaya di Siak: Festival Siak Bermadah, Ghatib Benghanyut, dan wisata olahraga seperti Tour de Siak. Semua acara ini memberdayakan masyarakat lokal dan menarik perhatian dunia. Studi ini juga menemukan bahwa peran pemerintah dalam mempromosikan acara-acara ini tercermin dalam bentuk publikasi di media komunikasi dan / atau peningkatan sumber daya manusia dan instrumen pendukung lainnya. Sementara untuk masyarakat lokal, ada peningkatan ekonomi kreatif dan upaya yang mengarah pada revitalisasi budaya Melayu

Abstract

Kabupaten Siak dikenal dengan slogan Siak the Truly Malay, karena daerah ini merupakan wilayah berbasis budaya Melayu, bahkan sudah berhak memegang hak cipta atas branding Siak the Truly Malay, paten atas branding tersebut, menurut Kepala Bagian Humas Pemerintah Kabupaten Siak sudah terdaftar sejak 27 April 2017. Berdasarkan kenyataan itulah  masyarakat Siak akhir-akhir ini bersemangat untuk mempromosikan city branding Siak the Truly Malay-nya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menggali, menemukan, dan mendeskripsikankan  berbagai promosi yang digalakan mereka terkait dengan wisata budaya ini. Metode penelitian bersifat kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa komunikasi pariwisata yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Siak,antara lain: memasarkan objek atau produk-produk budaya Melayu,  baik situs-situs sejarah, kerajinan tradisional, kuliner dan kondisi geografis yang menunjang program tersebut sebagai brand Kabupaten ini, memberdayakan dan meningkatkan ekonomi kreatif yang mengarah kepada city creative; menyelenggarakan berbagai event budaya yang menjadi agenda tahunan, memaksimalkan berbagai saluran komunikasi, seperti situs-situs online, media elektronik, koran lokal dan berbagai publikasi lainnya, memperbaiki dan meningkatkan  sarana dan prasana terutama infrastruktur dan elektrisasi, dan meningkatkan  kerjasama dengan stakehlders. Beberapa rekomendasi untuk meningkatkan program ini, pemerintah sebaiknya memaksimalkan sarana dan prasarana di berbagai tempat wisata yang tengah dikembangkan; masyarakat ikut menjaga dan  mengembangkan potensi ekonomi kreatif yang mereka miliki, stakeholder/Swasta seharusnya memberikan dukungan material secara maksimal terhadap program pemerintah dalam mempromosikan city branding ini.

Abstract

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MINAPOLITAN TOURISM AREAS IN PETALONGAN VILLAGE, INDRAGIRI HULU REGENCY. Petalongan village is located in the district of Pasir Penyu, Indragiri Hulu Regency-Riau Province. This village is still underdeveloped. Even though petalongan village has a lot of potential to be developed. In this case, the service activity aims to change people’s behavior in organizing, utilizing or managing their nature, traditions and culture to improve the community’s economy through the development of a tourist village minapolitan area. The targets of this service activity are BUMDes managers and PKK mothers. The service model uses Community Based Tourism (CBT), starting from mapping village potential, socialization, FGD, training, and mentoring. Based on the mapping and FGD, the potential of a village that can be developed is to make the village a minapolitan area for aquaculture-based tourism. The training activities focused on catfish and tilapia farming for BUMDes. Product development training is carried out aimed at supporting tourism and is also carried out in order to increase community understanding, attitudes and expertise in utilizing the potential of the village. This community service activity has had a positive impact on increasing community awareness and expertise in utilizing the existing potential by cultivating fish in the lake and having the will to develop the village as a tourist destination.

Abstract

The way each person communicates depends on culture; language, rules, and norms of each. Culture has the responsibility for all communicative behavior and meaning that everyone has. Communication difficulties faced by the individuals involved are caused by differences in their respective cultural expectations. Differences in cultural expectations can lead to fatal risks, one of which is a misunderstanding. In intermarried family life there will be a misunderstanding of intercultural communication, which involves all family members. This situation can lead to an agreement to recognize one culture that will dominate or develop another culture which is a fusion of the two cultures (third culture), or even both cultures can go together in one family. This study discusses family communication in mixed marriage couples between Indonesia and Australia. The research carried out is intended to find out and analyze the negotiation of self-identity in interactions, conflict management mediated by face and culture, family communication processes, inhibiting factors, and supporting family communication in mixed marriage couples between Indonesia and Australia. Using advanced negotiation theory and symbolic interaction theory. In this study, the authors used a descriptive qualitative method. The data collection techniques used are through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data obtained shows that Mindfulness: Acceptance of new cultures, in terms of language (using both languages), nature (Australia: Individualism-Indonesia: collectivism). Mindlessness: Stereotype, perspective, building tolerance, dealing with habits, opening up to accept a new culture.
